The Singular Patagonia was built at the former Puerto Bories Cold Storage Plant, which was declared a National Monument in 1996. In the transit areas of the museum-hotel, antique machinery is still intact and visible.

There is a guided tour which allows both in-house guests and external visitors to immerse in the history that gave origin to the Sociedad Explotadora Tierra del Fuego in 1915, the most important cold storage plant in Chilean-Argentinean Patagonia.

The location on the shores of the Señoret Channel, a 5 minutes’ drive from the town of the Puerto Natales, makes us the ideal place to undertake excursions to the most remote places, including and beyond the famed Torres del Paine National Park, the 8th World’s Natural Wonder. Guests are able to discover authentic Patagonia, connecting with local history and traditions.

The Singular Suite is 70 square meters (750 square feet) and boasts 1 King Bed, as well as a couch and separate sitting area. EL ASADOR
With rustic and historic style, the infrastructure at El Asador preserves the façade of the nineteenth century, transforming the setting into a gastronomic space where the tastes of fine grilled and typical dishes of the area are the main attraction for our gourmand clients.

TORRES DEL PAINE NATIONAL PARK
Torres del Paine National Park, in Chile’s Patagonia region, is known for its soaring mountains, bright blue icebergs that cleave from glaciers and golden pampas (grasslands) that shelter rare wildlife such as llama-like guanacos.

Some of its most iconic sites are the 3 granite towers from which the park takes its name and the horn-shaped peaks called Cuernos del Paine. The Singular Patagonia affords guests the opportunity to discover the 8th World Natural Wonder through adventurous treks with different levels of difficulty and duration.

TORRES DEL PAINE BASE VIEWPOINT TREKKING
Ideal for guest who wish to be challenged by a demanding hike and reaching the closest point of the iconic Torres del Paine. The path takes approximately 8 hours and starts at Valle Ascencio, continues by Monte Almirante Nieto until reaching “Refugio Chileno” through forests of Nothofagus and then on a steep rocky incline before arriving at the base of the towers.

HORSEBACK RIDING AT SOFIA LAKE
A horseback riding excursion that lasts approximately 2 hours while riding through valleys, knolls, lenga and nirre forests trails. We will ride through viewpoints and prehistoric sites that remain from glacier formations. We will also reach Benitez Hill and observe imposing austral birds flying over it.

KAYAKING AT SOFIA LAKE
We will depart from the hotel towards Pingo Salvaje, a tourist center located inside a residency called Sofia Lake Ranch, and where the Sofia Lake lies. It is at this location where kayaking begins. As we advance, we will discover black-necked swans, wild geese, ducks and the tuneful chorus of diverse birds gliding between hills.

MYLODON CAVE WALKING TOUR
20 Km (12.4 miles) from the hotel is the Mylodon Cave Natural Monument, an archeological site that protects caves and eaves that were inhabited by the megafauna and Patagonian tribes and where human remains were found dating back to 11.000 years B.P.

We will undertake a 4 Km (2.4 miles) walk on low difficulty paths on the reserve throughout caves, eaves, Nothofagus forests, and rock trails. We will also learn more about the history of this unique monument while walking.

PUERTO NATALES CITY TOUR
Puerto Natales is a port city on the Señoret Channel in Chile’s southern Patagonia. It’s the gateway to Torres del Paine National Park to the northwest, and the port for boats touring the Patagonian fjords.

The Municipal Historical Museum in the city center exhibits artifacts from the region’s indigenous population. To the north is the vast Mylodon Cave, once inhabited by prehistoric, slothlike mylodons.

As part of our cultural activities, at Thee Singular we offer our guests a City Tour excursion to the town which includes guide, transfer and the museum entrance fee.

The excursion starts from the hotel by the Costanera bordering the Señoret channel towards the center of Puerto Natales. It is a 5.8 Km (3.6 miles) short trip. In town, we will stop at the Main Square, the Municipal building and the main Church, which was built in this Magellan region in the XX century during the cattle fever.

We will also visit the Historical Museum where we will learn more about the history of the area. The tour will continue to the “Either Aike” handicraft market and then onto the small town of Puerto Bories.

COLD STORAGE PLANT TOUR
Restored and resurrected by fourth-generation family members of the original pioneers who settled the area and built the sheep farming industry more than 100 years ago, The Singular pays homage to the building’s and founders’ rich historical importance in the development of the local culture, economy and heritage.

Witness century-old machinery imported from England at the turn of the 20th Century; the hotel’s restored wood dock hovering over the Fjord of Last Hope leading out to the Pacific from which ships took wool to markets all over the world; and the local customs and traditions embraced by memorabilia throughout the property.

This guided tour allows you to immerse yourself in the history that gave origin to the Sociedad Explotadora Tierra del Fuego in 1915, the most important cold storage plant in Chilean-Argentinean Patagonia.

You will visit the boiler rooms, condensers, blacksmith, turnery as well as the centennial dock that served hundreds of ships for exportation of meat, fat, skin and wool to Europe.

HORSEBACK RIDING AT BALLENA HILL
We will cross the Señoret Channel by boat to arrive at Estancia Bahia Esperanza. Here we will begin our horseback ride towards Ballena Hill. During the ride, we will enjoy majestic views of the austral fjords and, if the weather permits, we can admire the glaciers from the South field as the condors flying overhead.

FLY FISHING
This is a great option for both the experienced fishermen or for guests who want to venture into the world of fishing for first time. This is a personalized adventure under challenging Patagonia’s conditions.

It is said that the ancient settlers saw in this territory that travels 200 Km (125 miles) between green forests and pampa, a great opportunity to introduce salmonoid fish, a voracious species which found its home in the present area and is now an ideal location for fly fishing.

Varied species can be found, from rainbow trout, Atlantic salmon, Pacific coho to King salmon, and Chinook, between the months of December through February.

NAVIGATION TO FJORDS AND GLACIERS
We will depart from The Singular’s dock to the Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers. During an hour and a half of navigation time between the fjords we may observe colonies of sea lions and other animal species. Once we arrive, we will disembark at the Bernardo O’Higgins National Park.

After a short hike, we will reach the closest view point of the glacier, allowing the time and the opportunity to take photos and to learn more about glaciers formation.

Once we return to the vessel, we will slowly navigate to the front of Balmaceda glacier and admire its natural beauty. We will continue navigating to a working Estancia, enjoy a typical Patagonian lunch and horseback ride or trek within estancia’s land.

PIONEERS WALKING TOUR
This 4 Km (2,5 miles) hike is ideal for those who would like to learn more about the history in this part of the world. We will walk from Puerto Consuelo, along the banks of the Eberhard fjord and fields that have a strong history of sovereignty and social development en route towards Puerto Prat, a small rural settlement founded in 1899 and the first village of the Ultima Esperanza Province. During the hike, we will be able to enjoy incredible views of Austral zone’s large mountain range.
