DINING
Our restaurant in Berkshire is a celebration of great food and fine wines. Taking inspiration from our California heritage and selecting ingredients from local farmers, foragers, and fishermen, our team craft ever-changing menus that are shaped by the seasons.

THE RESTAURANT
The food in our restaurant is as bold as it is beautiful. Whether you are joining us for an impromptu dinner or a big occasion, sit back, savour the time and relish the flavours. The restaurant is open for dinner every evening and for Sunday lunch. If you are looking for lunch Wednesday to Saturday then why not try The Vine Bar.

Date nights with a difference, Sunday lunchtime feasts with friends, and afternoons spent grazing on sweet treats. Simply tell us when you’re coming and we’ll ensure there’s a table ready and waiting.

THE VINE BAR
Be it a laidback lunch with loved ones, a leisurely feast with the family, or simply an excuse to indulge in a little afternoon wine tasting, The Vine Bar has got you covered. Pick a selection of small plates to share (or simply enjoy yourself), choose wines to sample from the cellar, and spend an hour or two sipping from your very own wine tree.

AFTERNOON TEA
Nothing beats spending a few hours tucking into afternoon tea in the Berkshire countryside. Our towers of sweet and savoury treats are served daily from 3pm, and include your choice of exotic tea, infusion, or freshly brewed coffee. In the mood for a glass of bubbles? You’re in the right place.

Quintessentially British, and oh so scrumptious, our full afternoon tea features delicate finger sandwiches, tempting tarts and patisserie, and a selection of freshly baked scones, clotted cream and jam.

THE EXECUTIVE CHEF
Our Executive Chef, Tom Scade, creates elegant works of art using the finest locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. Tom has worked in some of the best kitchens in the UK and trained under John Williams MBE at The Ritz, London, where he was instrumental in maintaining and delivering the highest quality in line with their Michelin star.

He has gone on to win a string of accolades, including winning the UK finals of the prestigious Le Taittinger Prix Culinaire in 2018 before coming third in the world finals later that year.

Tom incorporates our Californian heritage into his menus, mixing wines and olive oil from the Peter Michael Winery into many of his dishes. He prefers to present his food on a truly blank canvas – each dish a piece of artwork in a gastronomic gallery. Book a table and discover Tom’s dishes for yourself.

THE SPA
Our spa is an oasis of calm, tranquillity and rejuvenation. Stop by for one of our heavenly treatments, schedule yourself in for a spa day, or join us for one of our spa breaks and spend as long as you like relaxing in the spa.

ART COLLECTION
In Sir Peter’s collection, there are paintings by two eminent masters of the French Impressionist movement – Degas and Pissarro – and two of the English Impressionist movement – Clausen and Steer. It is interesting to look at their work alongside each other, not only to see individual styles but also to look at the cultural differences and appreciate the cross-fertilisation of ideas.

Many of the paintings in this collection depict man at one with the landscape and nature. The title of Henry Martin’s Bucolique rings true for many of the paintings – they encapsulate a sense of nostalgia, a sense of time gone by alongside an appreciation of the timelessness of the natural world and a romantic idyll of rural life. They are an optimistic group of paintings.

The other artists add to the flavour of this collection of turn-of-the-century art, contributing atmospheric canvases showing the influence of Impressionist and various Post-Impressionist styles and culminating in the modernism of Henry Moore in the working model for his seminal sculpture, Locking Piece.
