Villa Cordevigo is an ancient patrician residence going back to the 18th Century, in an unrivalled country setting.

It has all the charm of the Veneto villas, the subtle balance between geometrical lines and rotundity, the perfect blend of the architecture of palaces and the architecture of landscape, all enclosed in this estate lying in a little place called Cordevigo, once an ancient Roman settlement.

Villa Cordevigo has seen great changes over the centuries. The original nucleus is of the Renaissance period but then in the 17th and 18th Centuries it was transformed according to the styles in vogue at those times.

Laterally to the main house are two lower wings forming a square design with a large court and an artistic fountain and small Italianate garden . The complex also includes a beautiful Renaissance patrician chapel dedicated to St Martin, a vast park and a truly immense vineyard.

The Cordevigo complex for centuries was at the heart of the large landed estates belonging to Count Lombardo, and then it passed into the hands of the families of the Counts Dolci, Saladini and De Moreschi.

Today the Cristoforetti and Delibori families have turned Villa Cordevigo into a place of harmony, a charming wine relais which brings together wellness, health and beauty as well as fine food and wine.

Oseleta, the restaurant awarded a Michelin star and the Cellar, a temple to wine tastings, both promise unique sensory experiences. An open air pool and Spa also offer moments of unforgettable relaxation.

THE CHURCH
Religion, history and art in the patrician chapel of the Villa. Spirituality too finds a place in the Villa Cordevigo Wine Relais estate with its ancient chapel of St Martin, an architectural gem with its very own treasure trove: an exceptional collection of saints’ relics.

There are more than three thousand relics which were collected, in order to avoid them being stolen by invaders, by the villa’s owner, Bishop Marcantonio Lombardo, during the 18th Century.

The Church of San Martino was first built around 1400 and was probably extended and changed to its current form during the 1700’s, when it became the villa’s patrician chapel. It is still consecrated and it is also possible for religious ceremonies to be held there.

THE PARK
A romantic setting of age-old trees and water features. A shady cypress-lined drive leads to the palazzo behind which are the park’s age-old trees, cypresses, plantains and horse-chestnut which cast shadows over the paths along which, in all seasons, a relaxing stroll is accompanied by birdsong.

The chiaroscuro of the park makes for a unique play of light and shade. A spring inspires fairy-tale suggestions in an idyllic landscape. Outside the park’s walls, cool green lawns give way to the countryside and surrounding vineyards, gently and elegantly marking the boundaries.

THE POOL
A gorgeous swimming pool surrounded by lush green countryside and the Villa Cordevigo estate vineyards will offer peace and quiet and grand moments of sheer relaxation.

The pool area is complete with sun loungers and large umbrella sunshades in a garden area designed for sun worshippers, and the simple pleasures of being idle, reading and sunbathing. Another exclusive place in this country villa dedicated to wellness and well-being.

Room with a view over the park, romantic elegance and contemporary comfort. If all the rooms in Villa Cordevigo are beautiful, some are authentic rarities, such as the Bishop’s Room.

This double on the first floor is among these and exclusive original individuality makes it stand out from other rooms in the same category. It enjoys gorgeous views over the park and is without doubt the most sought-after room among the Villa’s returning guests.

The detail that makes this room one of the property’s most unique is the Bavarian style fireplace, which tells us a little of the building’s more recent history.

During the last world war, the Villa was occupied by German troops who, suffering dreadful homesickness, built a familiar feature fireplace which is beautifully in tune with the room’s elegance and today is the perfect place for moments dedicated to reading and the contemplation of the original frescoes.

This room is spacious with an area 30 square metres (323 square feet). The room’s comfortable and cosy atmosphere is enhanced by the furnishings, care for detail and rich local materials. OSELETA RESTAURANT
A Michelin starred temple to Italian Cuisine. Villa Cordevigo’s restaurant Oseleta offers a journey of the senses through the culinary art of Michelin starred chef Marco Marras.

Oseleta is an appealingly atmospheric restaurant which recalls the agricultural culture of Cordevigo as a place rather than a property and focuses on traditional flavours while reflecting the aristocratic, noble history of the residence, all thanks to the signature of this artist of Italian gastronomy.

Fine raw materials and a well-defined identity make the Oseleta into a temple to fine Italian cuisine. Simplicity, excellence, seasonality, but also the constant research for synergy between various elements – on occasion unusual ones – all his to enhance the quality of the products used in his recipes.

These are the guidelines to Marco Marras’s culinary philosophy. Amateurs and experts alike will appreciate the finely-stocked wine cellar at the Oseleta, which prides itself on being one of the richest in the area, with over 600 labels.

The finest Veneto, Italian and international wines are selected with great care by our maître and sommelier, well affirmed professionals as well as indefatigable researchers of rare and prestigious bottles and fine new entries into the market place.

THE BISTRO
Pleasure at table and the beauty of the landscape. Our pretty terrace bistro is a cool, cheerful place to enjoy breakfast on sunny mornings as well as dinner later in the day. The Bistro offers a more informal alternative to our gourmet restaurant.

With its magnificent views over the countryside, under a star-studded sky in the evenings, this is a place with great atmosphere for candlelit dinners on the terrace. The menu offers a selection of typically Veneto, Italian and international dishes.

VILLABELLA VINEYARDS
Winery on the hills of Bardolino. Vigneti Villabella was founded in 1971 by Walter Delibori and Giorgio Cristoforetti in Calmasino, in the heart of the renowned area of Bardolino classico, on the hills overlooking Lake Garda; it is still owned by the same families who are both actively involved in its running and management.

Production includes all the great classics of the area around Verona, such as Bardolino, Lugana, Custoza, Soave, Valpolicella, Ripasso and Amarone and the great IGT reds and whites made with autochthonous grapes from the province of Verona. Vigneti Villabella has 220 hectares vineyards, mostly owned and a few leased.

The acquisition of Villa Cordevigo in the area of Bardolino Classico, represents the heart of the company and the synopsis of the Villabella project which aims to preserve and enhance the culture and tradition of the territory, seeking out the intrinsic value of autochthonous wines, starting with respect for the land and care for the vineyards.

An enormous potential is represented by an estate of 100 hectares under vine which every year presents consumers of the world with a very fine – typically Italian – selection of top quality wines from a truly unique place.

Furthermore, over the last few years, an ongoing process of conversion to organic cultivation signifies 10 hectares have been certified and a further 13 are currently under conversion, thanks to maximum respect for Nature and balance of the environment.

A special journey into the tradition and flavour of our classic Italian wines will convey a magical atmosphere that is a characteristic of our winery.

WINE TASTING
A toast to Dionysus in the Villa Cordevigo cellar. Our relais is closely related to the winery and estate where the grapes cultivated then become Villabella wines.
Amarone, Valpolicella, Bardolino, Chiaretto and Lugana are just some of the wines of our most recent production, but there many more besides.

So our guests can enjoy tasting our Villabella wines, we have a typical cellar and a tasting-room where, quite apart from libations dedicated to Dionysus, we offer the opportunity to enjoy a guided tasting with our highly knowledgeable sommelier.

  • The wines will be paired with products of our territory
  • Tastings can be booked every day subject to availability for a minimum of 2 participants
  • Reservation is mandatory

It is the aim of the owning families, the Deliboris and Cristoforettis, to give guests the unique opportunity to experience and live the beauties, history and culturally rich tissue of Villa Cordevigo and its magnificent surrounding territory.

So, they have designed a series of opportunities for the enjoyment and betterment of all who visit the area around Lake Garda with a series of new experiences.

And our guests can be accompanied in their journey of discovery by our concierge-tour manager, our very own “local expert” who will reveal information and secrets of our land in all their many facets, telling the stories with inimitable passion and typically Italian simpatia.

FROM GRAPE TO GLASS
A visit to the Villa Cordevigo vineyards. The Villa Cordevigo vineyards start at the end of the green lawns around the swimming pool, embroidering the land with rows of vines which are a feast for the eyes and the soul.

A visit to the estate, with on foot or by bike, accompanied by an expert on wines, will be a truly memorable experience and also extremely informative. Our local expert will explain all the characteristics and secrets of cultivation techniques producing the finest Veneto wines.

He will also talk about the various seasons and how they can influence the vines, the grapes, the wines. He will introduce you to an ancient and fascinating world, one which since ancient times revolves around the countryside, the sun and the moon, the rains, the rhythms of Nature and her seasons.

But he will also explain all the advantages of technology applied to vinification and the secrets leading to a good wine. And the final touch to this fascinating experience, on returning to the tasting room at Villa Cordevigo, is a toast to the god of wine, Bacchus.

A TRIP ON GARDA LAKE
Lake Garda and its magical, incomparable beauty. The largest lake in Italy and the charming little towns and villages that stud its shores have never ceased to enchant tourists from round the world and through the centuries.

The ancient Romans had already selected this lake as their luxury summer destination, and there are archeological remains to prove it – both ruins and mosaics – that can be visited at Sirmione and Desenzano.

So that you can get to know this part of our country from a different perspective, Villa Cordevigo Wine Relais will take you on a journey of discovery, obviously by boat.

You will be accompanied to the point of departure where you will skipper your own boat but will not be required to have a license to drive, or if you wish you may hire a boat with its own skipper. Our tour manager will be your guide, telling you about our countryside, its history, the mysteries and tales of Lake Garda and its villages.

VERONA
“There is no world without Verona walls” Romeo and Juliet, Act Three. Verona, one of Italy’s most visited cities, cradle of civilisation and thousands of years of history, immortalised by William Shakespeare.

A city where every corner holds a surprise for the beholder, is worth a full day’s visit. Villa Cordevigo offers a tailor-made itinerary for guests who wish for greater knowledge of this wonderful city. A guide speaking your own language will tell you the stories of its beauty, its art and architecture.

As we said the itinerary can be tailor-made and this is also true of the lunch break, which can be chosen from a wide range of restaurants and outlets in Verona, from gourmet to wine bar, pizza restaurants and trattorias offering home cooking.

Lovers of opera will not be able to resist the idea of an evening living the magic of the Ancient Roman Arena during the open air summer concert season, from June to September. A transfer can be arranged for the various performances.

BORGHETTO & VALPOLICELLA WINERY
Borghetto, one of the 100 most beautiful walled villages in Italy, an ancient Lombard village where time seems to stand still. It is a little hamlet attached to Valeggio, on the banks of the River Mincio, not far from Peschiera del Garda and just 30 minutes from Villa Cordevigo. Valeggio is known as the place of origin of the filled pasta called “tortellino”.

Every year on the second Tuesday of June, the Feast of the “Nodo d’Amore” or Love Knot is held. The ancient bridge, the Ponte Visconteo, becomes the scene of a special feast, and a long, long table is set up where literally thousands will sit and feast on a menu rigorously consisting of Tortellini from Valeggio.

This lovely folkloristic feast originates from a medieval legend and closes with a firework display. A Villa Cordevigo trip to Borghetto is not just a tour of the village to admire its historical and architectural beauty but also takes in a visit to the artisan workshops where the tortellino filled pasta is made, to discover the secrets surrounding this ancient tradition and admire the dextrous skill and mastery of the artisans making the famous Valeggio tortellino.

The day ends in the afternoon with a visit to one of the most beautiful wineries and cellars in Valpolicella, where fine wines await tasting with a toast to the god of wine, Bacchus.

CAVAION VERONESE
Vineyards and olive groves, patrician villas and ancient churches, the rich tapestry of Cavaion Veronese. Cavaion Veronese is a charming, characterful village set on the gently rolling Veneto hills with their vineyards and olive groves.

A country village where a rich historical and architectural heritage of beautiful villas built by noble families between the 16th and 19th centuries. They are country mansions in various architectural styles which harmonise with nature and give life to the lyricism of the Veneto countryside which is so full of romantic suggestion.

Cavaion is a little village with a great history, its first settlement going back to the Bronze Age close to the Ca’ Nova pond, at the foot of the latter-day village. The local Town Hall is also the seat of the Archeological Museum where remarkable evidence to this ancient civilisation is kept.

It was during the Roman occupation, around the 1st Century BC that Cavaion started to develop into a more important centre. At that time, villa farms were being built which, through the agricultural development taking place, radically changed the landscape.

Some splendid ancient villas can now be admired which are built over the remains of the ancient Roman ones. Over the centuries, the village saw various eras of domination among which the most important being the Lombards and the Franks.

During the Middle Ages, Cavaion was part of the land belonging to the Scaligeri then in 1405 it passed into the great dominions of the Republic of Venice, remaining there for 400 years. Before the Unification of Italy, the last and final domination was Austrian.

The history of Cavaion can be quite easily reconstructed by visiting the little archeological museum in the Town Hall, which has a collection of fascinating Prehistoric and Roman remains, but a visit to the numerous churches in the village would be equally informative and interesting: The 9th century Church dedicated to San Michele, the 13th Century John the Baptist Church, and the Romanesque Santa Croce as well as Villa Cordevigo’s own 17th Century St Martin’s Church and San Gaetano’s 18th Century one.

And we recommend a tour of the villas which the Veneto nobles built on their estates to reside in during their leisure time spent in close contact with nature, but also overseeing their country businesses. Among these are Villa Cordevigo, Villa Ravignani, Villa Trombetta and Villa Bonazzo.
