Dating back to the Second Half of the 19th Century, Villa la Moresca Relais de Charme – B&B is located at the southern end of the fortified village of Montecatini Alto, in a dominant position over much of Tuscany.

The Borgo boasts some enchanting corners such as the Medieval Fortress, the ancient Clock Tower, the Museum of Santa Barbara and ‘La Piazzetta’ (the Montecatini living room) with some of the most renowned restaurants and cafes in the area.

Built and belonged to Pietro Grocco, renowned doctor and promoter of Montecatini thermalism, it has hosted, over the course of over twenty years, among others, the composer Giuseppe Verdi (of which Pietro Grocco was personal doctor) and illustrious personalities from the world of politics, of culture, of music.

A small marble plaque placed on the road leading to the main entrance of the Villa recalls the presence of Maestro Giuseppe Verdi who, looking out from the windows of the house, used to exclaim: “Here are the most splendid views I’ve ever seen!”.

The Villa is immersed in a lush garden, between the calm and the cool of centuries-old plants, where guests can relax, make a conversation, paint or read a book, entertaining themselves on the two large terraces, surrounded by ancient roses and under centuries-old California cedars, admiring the panorama that sweeps across five Tuscan provinces: Lucca, Pistoia, Livorno, Pisa, Florence.

La Moresca has large frescoed rooms, where guests can stay, drink a glass of wine, rest, listen to classical music records from the Villa’s collection. A historic library with many volumes is available for consultation. From the splendid panoramic garden, through a suggestive gallery carved into the rock, you can access the Relax Area and the swimming pool with hydromassage.

The Rooms and Suites, originally diversified from each other by unique details, finely furnished in Art Nouveau style, are all equipped with bathroom and air conditioning. Villa la Moresca B&B is a Relais de Charme only for adults. Your small pets are welcome.

ROOMS & SUITES
The Rooms and Suites of Villa la Moresca Relais de Charme – B&B, are all finely decorated and furnished with original antiques from the structure or from the most sophisticated Italian and French antiques markets.

They have the names of Italian composers: Verdi, Bellini, Puccini, Rossini and each has its own soul and taste that differentiates it from the others for style, originality and refinement. All rooms have a bathroom (the Verdi with an exclusive whirlpool tub) and air conditioning. The Bellini deluxe has a double bed and a lovely wooden loft with two single beds inside. The Rossini overlooks the garden with a panoramic view.

The Verdi Suite with balcony and solarium, a wonderful king size four-poster bed, a walk-in closet and in the bathroom an exclusive whirlpool tub and, finally, the Puccini Suite, located in the Tower of the Villa, consists of a double bedroom with canopy bed, a double or twin bedroom and an exclusive panoramic living room with windows on all sides, on the top floor of the tower itself, which is accessed by a suggestive cast iron spiral staircase.

SUITE VERDI
The main suite of the Villa is dedicated to Giuseppe Verdi, an illustrious guest of this House for many years. It consists of an entrance / hallway, a large walk-in closet, a bathroom with whirlpool tub and the main bedroom with a king size bed.

La Verdi is finely furnished with original furniture from the Villa, has two large balconies (one of which is a solarium) and a panoramic view over the Tuscany. The best way to enjoy your stay at La Moresca.

SUITE PUCCINI
The Puccini Suite is an apartment within the Villa. Located in the part of the Tower, it consists of an entrance, an English-style bathroom with hydromassage shower, a bedroom on the floor with a four-poster bed in shades of red.

An ancient spiral staircase in cast iron leads to the first floor of the Tower where the second bedroom is located (which can be double or with two single beds), continuing our guests can reach the top of the Tower with a living room with panoramic windows to enjoy a breathtaking view over all of Tuscany.

BREAKFAST
The Moresca Breakfast is an important moment, not only to start the day well, with energy and well-being, but also to be pampered by the delights of our cuisine and some products of our Region.

Depending on the season in which you are as our guest, it can be served in the frescoed dining room overlooking the valley, or in the garden between the cool and the scent of flowers and the singing of birds.

Our guests will be able to enjoy our ‘villa-made’ cakes, strictly Tuscan fresh bread, jams, fruit, cheeses, salami, ricotta, fresh eggs of the day from neighboring farms. A ‘zero’ kilometer breakfast, genuine and rich.

This is why the Moresca Breakfast is a delight for the Five Senses: we will tease taste, sight, smell, touch, hearing when you wake up. In case of intolerances or special requests, it will be our pleasure to satisfy every need of our guests at the table.

LUNCH & DINNER
In agreement with some restaurants in Montecatini Alto, it is possible to book lunch or dinner services directly at the Villa, with delivery. You will taste the specialties of the typical regional cuisine or to experiment refined international dishes.

CLASSES & ART
Villa La Moresca periodically organizes Cooking Classes, Painting and Photo Classes and Chamber Music Concerts in the lounge.

POOL & RELAX
Passing through the suggestive tunnel carved into the rock, from the Villa you reach the Pool & Relax Area. Here, guests can relax in the panoramic swimming pool overlooking Tuscany, enjoy the whirlpool, tan comfortably on the sun loungers or on the lawn, surrounded by fragrant flowers, listening to music or reading a book.

The staff of the Villa provides every day, mineral water and water flavored with seasonal fruits or herbs, personalized towels. A refreshing shower is at your disposal in the Area.

LOCATION
Villa la Moresca, Relais de Charme B&B, located in a panoramic and quiet area in the Borgo of Montecatini Alto, is a few steps from the ancient Piazzetta Giusti where there are some of the most renowned Restaurants and Cafes in the area, offering typical and refined cuisine in according to everyone’s needs, craft shops, food shops, newspapers and typical products of the area.

The feeling of experiencing the ancient village is unique in its kind, forgetting the passage of time and the stress of everyday life. A few steps from our hotel is the ancient Funicular dated 1898 that connects the Upper Town in Montecatini Terme with the ancient liberty-style spas and the elegant shops for shopping in Corso Matteotti.

La Pievaccia Golf Club and Grotta Giusti in Monsummano Terme with its thermal pools and natural cave, are essential stops, just a few minutes away. The Villa is strategically located halfway between the art cities of Florence and Lucca which can be reached in less than an hour even by public transport.

Versilia with its sandy beaches, the Etruscan Coast or even the Cinque Terre, if you prefer the rocky coast, are less than 60 km away. Our Relais is an excellent starting point for visiting numerous cities of art including Pisa, Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra.

Lesser known itineraries such as ‘Switzerland Pesciatina’ or the ancient villages of Buggiano, Cozzile, Massa, Monsummano Alto, Montevettolini, Vinci and San Miniato, are just a few kilometers away and can be enjoyed without the crowds of tourists who flock to the large Tuscan cities.

Those who love nature can visit the Fucecchio Marshes with Nature and Bird Watching Trails or the areas of the Tuscan Apennines for Trekking and Mountain Bike, up to the ski resorts of Abetone, Cutigliano or Corno alle Scale.
