The Cooperage that houses Wythe Hotel New York was designed by Theobald Engehart and opened in 1901. Built to manufacture barrels for the sugar refineries that lined the East River at that time, it was one of the last masonry and timber buildings built in Brooklyn before reinforced concrete became the preferred construction method.
The building featured an exterior spiral staircase in our iconic “scooped” corner. Later the building spent time as a textile factory which produced acoustic fabrics and specialty fabrics for the space program.
Wythe Hotel New York is the original boutique hotel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, focused on culture, food, community, and warm, genuine service. We are staunchly local, and mindful of our role in Brooklyn’s proud history of welcoming people from all over the world.

BROOKLYN QUEEN
Our industrial-chic Brooklyn Queen rooms offer a warm and welcoming space to relax and unwind in with exposed brick walls, industrial detailing, arched windows, Brooklyn views, 13 ft. lofty pine ceilings, sitting area with café table and chairs, and bathroom with rainfall shower.
LE CROCODILE RESTAURANT
Located in Williamsburg’s Wythe Hotel, Le Crocodile is a neighborhood brasserie from Chef Partners Jake Leiber and Aidan O’Neal (of beloved Greenpoint restaurant Chez Ma Tante), serving earnest French fare in a setting inspired by our Parisian and New York favorites.
Reservations are available starting one week in advance for parties of up to 8 guests, either on our outdoor Sidewalk Café or in our indoor Main Dining Room. Le Crocodile is open seven days a week for dinner, lunch and weekend brunch.
THE BLONDEAU BAR
Bar Blondeau is a French-style bar from chef partners Aidan O’Neal and Jake Leiber (Le Crocodile, Chez Ma Tante), located on the sixth floor of Wythe Hotel, in the heart of Williamsburg.
With unobstructed views of the Manhattan skyline, Bar Blondeau features a seafood-forward menu with French, Spanish and Portuguese influences, complementing an international selection of natural wines from up-and-coming wine regions, as well as signature cocktails, frozen drinks and zero proof beverages.

Historic industrial aesthetic, chef curated catering and exceptional personal service are the pillars of events at Wythe Hotel. Housed in a thoughtfully restored waterfront factory dating back to 1901, Wythe Hotel is one of the last masonry and timber buildings built in Brooklyn.
The building’s industrial past becomes the captivating backdrop for your event and an ideal setting for any gathering, from weddings and celebrations to conferences, photo shoots and cultural festivals.

All catering is provided by Chefs Aidan O’Neal and Jake Leiber’s three star French brasserie, Le Crocodile, located within Wythe Hotel. We locally sourced, seasonal ingredients and provide restaurant quality meals and service in a banquet setting.
