Spice Island Weddings
We are experts in hosting an entire range of romantically bespoke weddings. And they can be as extravagant or as intimate for two as they are for 200. Our white-powder Indian Ocean beach makes the perfect setting for a pared down rustic ceremony.
We also excel in the provision of evocative wedding bowers – which can be set against the backdrop of the ocean, beneath the palm trees or by the pool. Our dedicated wedding team has a decade of experience in working with you on personalizing everything from flowers and champagne – to hair to make-up.
And if you’d like something really different – what about a wedding aboard our traditional dhow? Or a Swahili ceremony with a hand-woven palm and bougainvillea arch, traditional music and the best of Zanzibar cuisine; alternatively, we’re the masters of the elegantly simple sit-down banquet.
An idyllic Spice Isle honeymoon
The fabled Spice Isle is the ultimate romantic honeymoon escape. And whether you get married on our stunning beach or escape to this heavenly corner of Zanzibar after the event, we can promise you exotically unforgettable surroundings, uniquely personalized intimacy and unrivalled service.
We also guarantee you privileged access to one of the finest and least visited Indian Ocean beaches in Africa.
Suggestions for your tailor-made escape might include a dhow trip for two, sundowners on the beach at sunset, a lantern-lit dinner for two in your own private beach bower, a personalized dive, windsurfing for two, kayaking, village visits, his and hers spa sessions or a private tour of the palaces and emporiums of famous Stone Town.
A diving experience for connoisseurs
For professionals and beginners alike, we offer the only PADI five-star Gold Palm and RAID diving certified dive centre in Zanzibar.
As the first dive team to discover the hitherto unexplored south-eastern coastline, we also deliver an unrivalled level of professionalism, friendliness and commitment to the preservation of our sublime marine ecology.
Boasting an unmatched range of diving equipment and a policy of taking only six divers per guide, The Rising Sun Dive Center also promises you a bespoke experience far away from the crowds. Our world-class team is delighted to welcome experienced divers and those who have never dived before.
It’s not until you get beneath the waves that you can really appreciate the miracle of the coral gardens. A wonderland of whimsical fish, fabulously shaped coral and secretive creatures awaits you.
Each guided tour will take two-and-a-half hours … but you’ll have memories for eternity. Our team will provide all the equipment you need.
Stand-up paddle boarding is the latest craze – simply stand on your board and paddle away. The Hawaiians have been doing it for centuries. Ideal in Zanzibar’s warm, translucent waters and perfect for coral garden discovery
Escape to sail the mangroves
For a magical day of dhow sailing, this trip is unrivalled. Set off aboard our own exclusive traditional Swahili dhow. Then take a leisurely sail down the coast and into the mangrove swamps.
A unique realm, and a retreat of peace and silence that’s alive with birds, these groves still provide all the beams used in traditional Swahili homes. They’re also a source of fish, which are still caught by the traditional hand-line method.
On the trip, you can sample some hand-line fishing of your own. What’s more, you fish will be taken back to the hotel where you can discuss with the chef how you’d like it to be presented for dinner. Worth noting that we’re ecologically sensitive so our boats do not anchor on the reef but, rather, drift with the tide.
