The History
The vision of Villas de Trancoso came to life in 2001 when visiting the extreme south of Bahia, Brazil, where we found a beautiful palm-studded beach and miles of golden sand. Since that time Trancoso has gained recognition for its charming Quadrado but people still come to enjoy the privacy and serenity of one of the most beautiful stretches of beach on earth.

Two Bedroom Villas
Our two-bedroom villas include verandas with hammocks and comfortable chairs or large lounge sofas, beds draped in white mosquito netting, romantic lighting and a central social area for TV viewing and gatherings.
Each villa features a master bathroom with a dressing area and a rainforest shower as well as a second bath with a shower. It is the perfect retreat for families wishing to spend a special time together.
Dining
Our resort offers an exceptional array of unforgettable dining experiences. Whether you are lounging on our beach, relaxing at our beach bar, or enjoying our white marble pool with sunken pool bar and shaded pergolas our chefs have something special waiting for you.
The Villas day begins at 8:00 am with our famous Brazilian breakfast…hot steaming Brazilian coffee, seasonal tropical fruits, and juices, baked bread, cheeses, pastries and omelets of your choosing.
At 12:00 our restaurant opens and you can choose between the special of the day or a wide selection of international and Brazilian dishes from our menu. During the day many of our guests choose to take their meals by the pool or on the beach.
In the evening a romantic dinner to candlelight is a favorite of many. You can order from our menu or ask our chef for your favorite dish. Some of our more traditional favorites include seafood moqueca, lobster, shrimp bobo, mushroom risotto, and our special creations of fish, shrimp, chicken, and beef.
Something more….the traditional Bahian Feast (for 6 or more), with “acarajes”, “moquecas”, shrimp “bobo” and candy coconut. Add the traditional Brazilian side-dishes and you have a feast fit for a king.
Beach Bar
In front of our villas and located on Nativos Beach, one of the most private and beautiful stretches of beach in Trancoso, is the Villas Beach Bar and Restaurant. Guests are welcome to lounge under shaded palms while sipping their favorite Brazilian cocktail.
Our palm-studded beach area includes our beach bar, comfortable lounges, sofas, and hammocks as well as shaded tables and chairs for gatherings large and small.
At 10:00 our bar is open where guests can choose from a large variety of tropical drinks and juices. At 12:00 our kitchen opens and guests can choose from a beach menu of delectable treats from light bites to gastronomic delights.

In front of our beach lies a tropical paradise of luxuriously manicured gardens, spacious lawns, and flora of every variety. Nestled within this oasis you will find our villas, our cabana and restaurant, our spa, and our white marble pool.

In 2013 a family of 9 Brazilian monkeys chose to call the Villas their home. They will be waiting on rooftops and trees for anyone that wants to share bananas.
Our cabana serves both as our restaurant and as an entertainment center for our guests. Upstairs guests will find a game room with a widescreen TV, games, and a wide selection of books.

Easily accessible by air and approximately 800 kilometers south of Salvador, the beauty of Trancoso’s beaches are known throughout Brazil.
Weather & Seasons
Trancoso is blessed with a beautiful year-round climate. We are often asked when is the best time to visit. The answer is anytime. The area is blessed with an amazingly beautiful year-round climate.
Some people will find our seasons reversed. Summer in Bahia runs from December to March. Winter runs from June to August. The good news is that the seasonal differences are small. Winter nighttime temperatures rarely drop below 68F (20C).
Summer daytime highs average 84F (29C). Even these differences are minimized by our bright sunny days of winter and the cool ocean breezes of summer. Ocean temperatures also vary little from winter to summer, 25C to 28C (76F to 82F), so you can enjoy an ocean swim at any time of the year.
Getting to Trancoso
Trancoso is located in the state of Bahia, Brazil. To get here you can fly by commercial jet into the international airport in Porto Seguro about a one hour drive from our Villas.
We can arrange for a driver to pick you up at the airport on your arrival. The scenic drive includes a ferry river crossing. If you are new to the area and wish a car rental we can arrange to have it delivered to you at our Villas.
Trancoso Quadrado
One of the earliest settlements founded by the Portuguese in Brazil (1586), Trancoso is a village of incredible natural beauty. Its ideal year-round climate coupled with the intimacy and privacy of a small village offers the perfect escape for those seeking privacy, exotic location, and the best beaches in Brazil.
Below the cliffs of the village, you will find many kilometers of unspoiled golden sand beaches bordered to the north and south by rivers. Trancoso’s shopping Quadrado overlooking the ocean has many historical sites plus many small stores with local arts and crafts and superb dining.
At night the entire Quadrado is lit by torch and candlelight and natives and vacationers alike can be found strolling under the moon and stars, frequenting the many local stores and dining in the many excellent restaurants of the area.
Yes…the area has become a bit more upscale. Beyonce has been here. So has Naomi Campbell, Matthew McConaughey, Gisele Bundchen, Leonardo di Caprio, Bill and Melinda Gates, and Al and Tipper Gore. Beyonce shot part of her Blue video in the town and her sister, Solange, spent her honeymoon here. Anderson Cooper is a regular of the area with a home nearby.
Terravista Golf Course
Running along the colorful cliffs of Trancoso the 18 hole Terravista golf course offers up one of the finest golfing experiences in South America. The course was designed by renowned architect Dan Blankenship. It has been referred to by Golf Digest as one of the 8 Pebble Beaches of the world.
The front nine holes take you deep into the Atlantic rainforest and include several lake holes with sand bunkers and jungle boundaries that even the best of golfers will respect.
The back nine, in contrast, offers dazzling views of the beach with many of its holes perched high upon the ocean cliffs. Holes 12-15 run along cliffs and offer breathtaking shots as your ball navigates over cliff and sea.
Want to improve your game….the driving range has nine greens each framed by white sand bunkers. The nine-hole putting green and chipping area ensures that no shot goes untested. A teaching pro offers both individual and group lessons.
