Our hotel is majestically situated in the middle of a park in a most beautiful and tranquil location just above the village centre of Wengen. Views of the Jungfrau and surrounding Alps are breathtaking.
The village centre and the mountain railway station can be easily reached on foot. In less than a few minutes, you can be hovering over the «Männlichen – Kleine Scheidegg» ski and hiking paradise on the Wengen-Männlichen cable car.
In winter, the practice slopes for children and beginners start right in front of the hotel. Over the last few years, we have renovated the hotel step by step and we are now classified as a 4-star superior hotel. All our guests feel at home here: singles, couples, and families with children – the young and young at heart.
Through the large glass front you have a beautiful view of the mountains from our dining room and lounge. Thanks to the southern exposure, the sun will greet you in the morning for coffee and croissants and in the evening it says goodbye by turning the Jungfrau into a bright red.
Dining
We are happy to serve you plain and tasty dishes from our lunch menu on our terrace or in the Rondo Bar. From our terrace, on a sunny day, you have a view of the beautiful park with the swimming pond and the surrounding mountains.
Thanks to the sunny, sheltered location, afternoon tea can often be enjoyed on the sun terrace even in the winter months.
In the evening, the bar is the meeting place for an aperitif before dinner and the place to end the day on a relaxed note or to exchange holiday experiences in a cheerful atmosphere. In winter, a live pianist plays here, creating an elegant and relaxing atmosphere.
In the Rondobar we are happy to serve small dishes from our Room service/Lunch menu at lunchtime and in the evening. Our bar menu focuses on Swiss spirit specialities and also includes many non-alcoholic alternatives as well as teas from Switzerland.
Swimming pool, whirlpool and sauna area
An indoor swimming pool with whirlpool and Jacuzzi, a sauna area with bio sauna, Finnish sauna, steam bath, tepidarium with Himalayan salt column as well as a small gym and relaxation room are available to you free of charge. Pleasant massage and facial care rooms invite you to book treatments.
Our renovated and spacious swimming pool has warm materials and offers space for young and old. Thanks to the large windows, you have a view of the beautiful
garden with swimming pond (in summer) and the mountains. The water temperature is always between 27 and 28 °C (80.6 – 82.4°F)
Sit back and enjoy the warm temperatures of the whirlpool (approx. 35 – 36 °C / 95 – 96.8 °F) and the pleasantly massaging air bubbles.
Children may of course use the whirlpool and the swimming pool under parental supervision. However, please note that we do not have a lifeguard and the swimming pool/area is not supervised.
In summer, a cool dip in the garden’s organic swimming pond offers a special experience. Immerse yourself in your natural bathing experience with pure mountain water. The water in the swimming pond is purified using natural, biological filter technology and without chemical treatment.
Sauna
Sauna visits purify, detoxify the body and strengthen the immune system. The cooling down under the cold shower additionally energises the body. Choose your preferred temperature circuits according to your individual needs:
- Bio-Sauna 55°C
- Finnish Sauna 85°C
- Steam bath 45°C with humidity of around 100%
- Tepidarium 45°C with Himalayan salt column available.
The minerals of the Himalayan salt are absorbed by the body through the respiratory tract and increase mental and physical performance.
Please note that the sauna area is a relaxation area and is only accessible from the age of 16. Accordingly, the sauna area is separated from the swimming hall by a door and separate facilities.
Grindelwald-First skiing
Two valleys, three mountain ranges and 211 kilometres of perfectly prepared pistes. In the Jungfrau ski region snow fans can enjoy activities of all types and be in their element.
The winter paradise with the backdrop of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau offers skiers and snowboarders everything their hearts desire: gentle slopes, steep drops, snow and fun parks, racing tracks and powder parties.
Follow the pink signs and posts
We need a single skill to enjoy all that winter has to offer here: we have to be able to walk. Well, let’s assume this is a given.
Everything else that comes after that is fairly straightforward and hassle-free. The winter hiking trails are marked with pink signposts and well maintained. The easiest way to experience winter first hand.
Conscientious winter hiking
No question. We pay close attention to the signals of the avalanche service. And obviously: we don’t go down closed trails. It wouldn’t make any sense to leave the marked trails.
We would otherwise only disturb the wild game. And it goes without saying that we don’t leave our rubbish behind in this pristine landscape. Never. That’s not who we are.
