HISTORY
The Colony Palms Hotel’s rich and colorful history established it as an iconic part of Palm Springs and over the years it has been host to Hollywood’s elite, mobsters, athletes, film producers, gamblers and politicians.
THE 1930’S
Originally dubbed the Colonial House, the Spanish Colonial style hotel was built and opened in 1936 by owner Al Wertheimer, a reputed mobster and member of the infamous Purple Gang.
THE 1940’S
After World War II, the hotel was renamed the Howard Manor under the glamorous new ownership of Robert Howard, son of Charles Howard, owner of the championship racehorse Seabiscuit, and his wife Andrea Leeds Howard, an Academy Award-nominated actress. The hotel remained a haven for Hollywood stars in Palms Springs for many years.
THE 1950’S
Annie and Dave Margolis acquired the hotel from Robert Howard on a handshake deal made between Dave and Robert over cocktails one evening at the hotel. The highly social couple continued operating the hotel under the Howard Manor, a name that had become synonymous with Palm Springs glamour.
TODAY
The Colony Palms Hotel is re-imagined under designer/Hotelier Steve Hermann as it is transformed into one of California’s premier luxury hotels. A multimillion dollar renovation was completed where every surface has been completely restored and enhanced to be able to experience The Colony Palms as it was always meant to be enjoyed.

THE HERMANN RESIDENCE
Mr. Hermann’s private residence while on property. This 3500 square foot, two story house, defines opulent living. Featuring a large living room, separate large family room with 100” flatscreen T.V., billiards table, dinning room, fully equipped kitchen, huge master suite with steam shower, and private front and back yard.
Finished with hand chipped limestone floors, hand embroidered drapes, and luxurious furnishings, you will choose to stay here when only the absolute best will do. Can be configured with an additional bedroom to create a 4,000 square foot two bedroom residence. Afterwards presidential suites will seem so quaint in comparison.
THE HERMANN SUITE
This is the master suite of the Hermann Residence that can be enjoyed separately when you don’t need the entire house. Very large at 1000 square feet, it features a sitting area, large private veranda overlooking the property, and a large bathroom with double vanity and huge steam shower. Absolutely elegant and refined, you will be ensconced in luxury.
BUNGALOWS
Our bungalows will take you back in time to old California when space was abundant and you could enjoy your own individual casita. Experience complete privacy with nobody above or bellow you. Located next to the pool, yet separated by a row of lush planting, providing additional privacy.

Our bungalows with patios are one of the best ways to experience the Desert Chic lifestyle. Featuring a luxurious indoor space, as well as a private outdoor patio, you can experience the warm desert air while relaxing in complete privacy.

Sacred Hot Stone Massage
The calming warmth of heated basalt stones combined with the infusion of fluid massage strokes lets you experience a new depth of relaxation.
This treatment helps relieve tension, eases muscle stiffness, and increases circulation by targeting the deeper layers of muscles while facilitating the body’s self-healing mechanisms. The use of cold passes with our CryoGlobes reduces inflammation and increases circulation, creating a feeling of restored balance.
Ultimate Self-Love Detox Wrap
Deepen your connection to you, open your heart, and detoxify your body with this luxurious formula. Our proprietary wrap formula is a blend of botanicals, essential oils, and crystals to detoxify, release accumulated fluids, enhance blood flow and allow for a more peaceful state of mind.
This offering starts with a whole-body dry brushing, preparing the skin, and strengthening the lymphatic flow and circulation. We then apply our detoxifying formula, along with a cool wet lavender-soaked wash cloth, and wrap you to absorb the benefits deeply.
