Chalkboard, located in the Hotel Les Mars lobby, is a casual, contemporary yet classic restaurant that brings a fresh and approachable option to the Healdsburg dining scene. Chalkboard’s ever-changing small plates menus is defined by Chef Justin Davis’ access to quality seasonal ingredients and celebrates the best of what Sonoma County has to offer.

About Healdsburg
Healdsburg is a town renowned for its eclectic offering of all the finest things in life… food, wine, friends and fun. Enjoy it all while you stay at Hotel Les Mars.

Roth VIneyards, Roth Winery
About an hour north of the Golden Gate Bridge awaits a veritable country within a wondrous state, where natural beauty unites with the world-renowned California artists and artisans to inspire the senses. They call it Healdsburg.

Whether you’re visiting to sample from an abundance of world-class wineries, to feast from the very best in farm-to-table dining, or just to explore the picture-perfect countryside of lush valleys and redwood forests that cradle Lake Sonoma and the Russian River, you will delight in everything… but the leaving.

Wine Country
More than 100 wineries are within a 20-minute drive right out of our front door (literally). Tasting is our favorite pastime and our local wine makers and tasting staffs are down to earth and easy going. You don’t have to be a wine expert, just taste and have fun.

The Wine Road
Founded more than 30 years ago, Wine Road is an association of wineries and lodgings in the Alexander, Dry Creek, and Russian River Valleys of Northern Sonoma County. From its modest beginning as an organization of nine wineries, it has grown into a spirited constellation of more than 150 wineries and over 50 lodgings.

It’s not actually a “road” in the sense of a single, continuous stretch of paved highway, but more of a treasure map to the many jewels nestled among the hills and valleys of a region where fresh air, fine wine and exquisite cuisine await those who traverse it.

Dining
Healdsburg offers many fine restaurants to choose from when you travel to the Sonoma County wine country. From coffee to deli, bakery to bistro, picnic to world-class cuisine, meals are highlighted by the finest wines from premium quality Sonoma wineries.

Visitors to Healdsburg can experience dining any way they want it, whether it be Mexican food, Chinese food, Italian food, Thai food, French food, seafood, healthy organic vegetarian food, pizza, or hamburgers.

Farm to Table
With over 50 restaurants and dozens of farms in our backyard, Healdsburg is a food mecca with chefs and farmers at the Farmers Market to create daily feasts for you.

Art Country
Healdsburg is home to more art galleries than any city north of the Golden Gate Bridge, many within walking distance of Hotel Les Mars. Fine Art, Sculpture, Photography and many other medium of collectable art are represented. Be sure to include a visit to this rich tableau of art as part of your Healdsburg experience and meet the gallery owners and the artists.

Shopping
Whether shopping for the home and family, or for gifts, there are boutique clothing shops, hand-crafted jewelry stores, bed & bath shops, fine furniture stores and unique art galleries. Local vendors from around Sonoma sell their produce at the Healdsburg Farmers’ Market.

Outdoor Recreation
The outdoor recreation can be breathtaking — sometimes literally. Thanks to the Russian River and its many quiet spots for a dip in the water, the Lake Sonoma Recreational Area with numerous trails of varying rigor, and the Redwood Forest in Guerneville, outdoor recreation, is as integral to the Northern California lifestyle and culture as Healdsburg is to wine.

Partner Wineries
Hotel Les Mars has cultivated exclusive relationships with local wineries in Sonoma and Napa Counties. At select properties, Hotel Les Mars guests will receive a complimentary tasting as well as exclusive amenities. Please contact the hotel directly for our complete list of partner wineries.

Chalk Hill

Ferrari Carano
Blessed with rich soils and a warm climate, Dry Creek Valley, known for Zinfandel, supports a diversity of varietals at equally high levels of quality. This beautiful valley, home to Ferrari-Carano`s Estate winery, is only 16 miles long and two miles wide, but it boasts more than 6,000 acres of vines.

Chateau St. Jean

Lancaster Estate
In the southernmost tip of Alexander Valley, Lancaster Estate is a family winery dedicated to limited release Bordeaux styled wines that are grown, produced and bottled from 53 estate acres, micro-farmed in small vineyard blocks, each with its own expression of the terroir, allowing traditional Bordeaux varieties to develop elegant structure, age-worthy tannins and vibrant, rich flavors with both balance and power.

Roth Estate Winery
Roth Estate is a family-owned winery dedicated to crafting full-flavored wines grown in exemplary Sonoma County vineyards. Beginning in 2001, Roth committed to producing classic Bordeaux varietals in Alexander Valley. A decade later the winery expanded its winemaking to include cool-climate varietals from the Sonoma Coast.

Foley Sonoma
Nestled on a gentle knoll shadowed by the nearby Mayacamas Mountains, the site of Foley Sonoma typifies the peaceful, serene beauty of the Alexander Valley in the world renowned Sonoma County, just eighty miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Our vision and creativity are inspired by the vineyards and countryside surrounding the Estate. Foley Sonoma wines mix old-world tradition and modern technology to allow for gentler handling of both fruit and wine.

Sebastiani
Sebastiani Vineyards & Winery has been a Sonoma winemaking tradition since 1904. Utilizing grapes from a variety of premier growing sites in Sonoma County creates wines with added richness and complexity.

Located in the heart of Sonoma wine country, steps away from the dining and shopping of Sonoma Square, Sebastiani offers a historic winery with a hospitality center, barrel room with antique redwood tanks, grand event space and daily tours and tastings.

Banshee Wines
With Sonoma-heritage style that meets comfortably modern decor, the tasting room allows guests to enjoy Banshee wines in a casual setting that bucks the traditional tasting bar with a warm backdrop of reclaimed wood floors and walls, distressed leather furniture, spinning vinyl, and a vintage communal table. The tasting room offers wines by the glass or bottle at retail price.

Armida Winery
For 20 years now, brothers Steve and Bruce Cousins have been producing some of the best wines in Sonoma County.

They hand-craft vineyard designated wines from many of the top vineyards including Maple Vineyards Zinfandel and Maple Vineyards Tina’s Block (perhaps Dry Creek’s most coveted Zin Block), Durell Vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Parmelee-Hill Pinot Noir and Zinfandel, Castelli Knight Ranch Pinot Noir, Gold Mine Ranch Zinfandel, and Bacigalupi Vineyard Pinot Noir.

Foley Johnson Winery
For years, Bill Foley and his wife Carol Johnson Foley wanted to open a winery bearing their name in Napa Valley. With the launch of Foley Johnson in 2012, the couple has created a world-class winery with premier vineyards and a historic tasting room right in the heart of America’s preeminent winegrowing region.

Kuleto Estate
Located on the Eastern Edge of the Napa Valley overlooking Lake Hennessey and the Town of Rutherford, this extraordinary mountaintop estate features 82 individual vineyard blocks, three distinct soil types and a range of elevations and exposures. From this rich and diverse palette of fruit, Kuleto Estate produces a small portfolio of exceptional estate-grown wines.

Merus
When a wine is made with the most carefully chosen fruit, in very small quantities, with unsparing attention to detail, a new level of excellence becomes possible. Merus is handmade in every sense of the word. It is Cabernet Sauvignon from Coombsville, one of the last great undiscovered territories in southern Napa Valley.

Winemaker David Lattin and Director of Winemaking Paul Hobbs ensure that severe pruning, cluster sorting, small-lot fermentations and careful lot selection combine to create a wine that is dense, concentrated and nuanced.
