Castle Penthouse
Fonab Castle’s flagship Penthouse Suite sits on the building’s fourth floor with unrivalled views over the Perthshire Highlands. Inside, Ulf Mortiz glass studded wallpaper adorns the walls which are beautiful decorated in muted velvet creams. Its separate dressing room with power shower adds extra luxury.

A high vaulted wooden ceiling and original panelled walls frame the Penthouse Suite, which focuses around the impressive centrepiece, the And-So-To-Bed 7 foot Dickens Nickel bed. With a set of steps, just in case.

Woodland Suites
Experience all the beauty of the Highland surrounding from a Woodland Suite, decorated with rich, warm colours in keeping with Fonab Castle’s unforgettable location. Nestled in the contemporary wing of our traditional Castle, our Woodland Suites feature glass balconies or enclosed patios.

The Woodland Suites are well lit with ceiling spot lights, table lamps and natural light flooding in through two patio doors. One Woodland Suite is accessible with a wet floor shower. Woodland Suites are not loch facing.

Superior Loch View Lodge Room
Very spacious luxurious room with contemporary décor. 7ft bed and relaxing sitting area with sofa and armchairs, located in the lodge building adjacent to the Hotel. Floor to ceiling windows offering stunning Views over Loch Faskally towards Ben Vrackie and Craigower Hill.

Each luxury Pod offers adjustable heating, mood lighting, personal music system, service button and your very own host to look after you and your guests. The Pods provide a relaxing space which is ideal for drinks parties for up to twelve guests or breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner parties for up to six guests.

Fly through the Air with a Bungee Jump
Amidst the iconic scenery of Highland Perthshire, Bungee jump 40m from the Garry Bridge in the stunning location of Killiecrankie. The first permanent bungee site in the UK after opening in 2011 and since then has had over 30,000 people bungee with us.

Shooting
Perthshire is a mature sporting destination that offers visitors outstanding sporting experiences amongst stunning and dramatic landscapes.

From game shooting – including pheasant, grouse, partridge, hare and pigeon – to wildfowling, deer stalking (red, fallow, roe and sika deer) – to ‘birdies’ of a different kind with County Clays – the biggest sporting clay pigeon range in Scotland. Air Rifle Shooting and Archery also available.

TARGET CLAY SHOOTING
This is one of the most scenic shooting facilities in Scotland. The shooting centre is the Largest sporting clay pigeon range in Scotland consisting of 14 stands each incorporating six to nine different targets from bolting rabbits and driven grouse to fast pheasants.

FULL DAY SIGHTSEEING TOURS GLENCOE, LOCH NESS AND INVERNESS
Leaving the Fonab Castle Hotel at 10am we travel west following Scotland’s longest waterway, the powerful River Tay, to Crainlarich. On route we will travel along the way of General Wades’ Military Roads and pass through sites of significant Pictish heritage including the ‘Crannog’ at Kenmore.

After a comfort break at Crainlarich we continue north west through stunning Rannoch Moor and the mysterious Glencoe (with an option of stopping at the Glencoe Visitor Centre or the James Bond Skyfall scene). From Glencoe we travel north to Fort William, skirting the beautiful Loch Linnhe. Around 1 pm. we’ll lunch at Fort William’s top rated Ben Nevis Inn.

After lunch and with the Nevis Mountain Range as a backdrop, we’ll continue north with views of Loch Lochy and Loch Oich, stopping at Fort Augustus. At Fort Augustus we’ll visit the daunting Loch Ness and the amazing Caledonian Canal network of locks. It’s then further north along the west side of Loch Ness to Inverness with plenty of chances to spot Nessie!

Along this route, we’ll have the option to stop off at Urquhart Castle or the Loch Ness Centre and Exhibition. After a short stop at Inverness, the Highland’s Capital, we return south to Pitlochry driving through the amazing Cairngorms National Park, with you back at the Fonab Castle Hotel between 5 pm and 6 pm. (times are dependent on whether you wish to visit any of the visitor attractions).

Walking and Outdoors
Enjoy the most beautiful scenery in Scotland
Pitlochry is a walker’s paradise. With its excellent range of well-marked routes, from gentle strolls to challenging hikes. All the Pitlochry walks start and finish in the town centre and they are clearly marked with colour-coded sign posts.

Covering an area of approximately 20 square miles, there are nearly 41 miles of tracks and paths taking you along rivers, crossing burns and roaming loch-side, through woodland and up hills, from where you can see some spectacular views.

To the north is Blair Atholl at the foot of Glen Tilt, one of the most beautiful glens in all Scotland and accessible only on foot. Blair Atholl is the northern end of Perthshire and further north is the Drumochter Pass.

Heading west is Loch Rannoch, presided over by mighty Schiehallion, one of the most popular Munros; this region also gives access to the wilds of Rannoch Moor. The glens here are bountiful, the mountains beckoning and the rivers magnificent.

HIGHLAND SAFARIS
Highland safaris are a brilliant way to experience the stunning scenery and mass of wildlife in the nearby area.

The safari takes you on a journey through the Highlands, getting you closer to the many amazing animals that inhabit it including deer, grouse, Mountain Hare or Golden Eagle.Get a glimpse into the incredible Highland wilderness that awaits. A great choice for stag and hen groups.

CYCLING ROUTES
With the breath-taking Ben Vrackie mountain rising up in the distance and the calming waters of Loch Faskally setting the scene, the immediate countryside of Pitlochry is simply awe-inspiring. Get out and about by bike to experience more of it, on two wheels.

Cycling holidays or breaks are popular in the area, and bike is a brilliant way to get closer to the naturally beautiful surroundings. Cycling routes vary to include quiet country roads, circular routes taking in the mountain tops, off-road forest routes, mountain climbs and flowing downhill descents. There’s a cycling route for every age and ability.

WHISKY DISTILLERIES
The full Highland experience is not complete without a visit to a local whisky distillery and Pitlochry is spoilt for choice when it comes to, a wee dram.

Nearby distilleries include Eradour Distillery, Scotland’s smallest traditional distillery in Scotland which dates back to 1825, Blair Athol Distillery and Bell’s (founded in 1798), there’s a great local selection to choose from.

Take a tour of the nearby distilleries, sample popular and rare blends alike and purchase some to take home with you, a little taste of the Scottish Highlands. Alternatively, sample rare Malts at Fonab Castle’s impressive Lounge Bar.

BLAIR ATHOLL DISTILLERY
Visit Blair Atholl for a distillery tour and see how they make uisge beatha from golden malted barley, water and yeast, distilled in traditional copper pot stills and matured in oak casks. Relax and enjoy a dram in their well stocked shop.

The distillery shop stocks a wide range of single and rare malt whiskies, and blended whisky. You will find their own Blair Atholl 12 year old and Bells as well as the range of Classic Malts and Flora and Fauna collection.

PITLOCHRY GOLF COURSE
Pitlochry Golf Course offers a wonderful blend of exhilarating golf and pure relaxation. The course is open to all – members, visitors and groups and provides enjoyable play for the average player as well as challenges for the advanced. Try your hand on this 18 hole par 69 course with its stunning views and undulating greens.

THE QUEEN’S VIEW
Said to have been named after Queen Victoria, following her visit to the area in 1866, The Queen’s View in Highland Perthshire overlooks Loch Tummel The Queen’s View Visitor Centre lies at the eastern edge of Loch Tummel and is surrounded by part of the Tay Forest Park.

As well as a stunning viewpoint overlooking the loch and beyond to the iconic Schiehallion, the area offers a range of woodland walks suitable for all abilities. The visitor centre includes a café and detailed information about the forests and area surrounding Highland Perthshire.

The Nae Limits Adventure Tubing trip takes you on a journey down the River Garry, along the way you experience stunning steep gorges, class two rapids and optional cliff jumping session, including the option to jump from the famous Soldier’s Leap, 18ft jump.

RIVER TAY WHITE WATER RAFTING
The River Tay white water rafting trip covers the 6 mile stretch from Aberfeldy to Grandtully. On the first half of the River Tay white water rafting trip our guides will show you the fundamentals of river rafting, you will get the opportunity to play games, jump in, or just take in the beautiful Scottish scenery.

On the second half of the River Tay rafting trip you will experience the white water rapids, ending on the famous Grandtully Slalom Rapids which are sure to get your heart pumping! As the River Tay is a natural river it tends to be lower over the dry summer months, therefore is the ideal white water rafting trip for beginners and families.

However over the winter months, after lots of rain and snow the River Tay offers up some awesome white water rafting ideal for adrenaline junkies – it’s definitely worth braving the cold for!

RIVER TUMMEL WHITE WATER RAFTING
The river Tummel is a dam release river just north of Pitlochry, which releases on weekends in June – September. The River Tummel is a very technical river with numerous white water rapids such as Sharks Tooth, Surfs Up and Roller-coaster, but your nerve will be tested on the final rapid… ‘Lynn of Tummel’ an 18ft two tier waterfall!! No experience is necessary but water confidence and a reasonable level of fitness is a must for the awesome River Tummel white water rafting trip!

CANYONING
Canyoning….one of the fastest growing adventure sports in the UK . A canyoning experience has something for everyone; big cliff jumps, small cliff jumps, waterfall swims, slides, caves and a cable ‘via ferrata’ style traverse with a 5 meter slide drop.

This is one of the most beautiful canyon trips in Scotland in the Falls of Bruar. Our Big Buzz canyoning trip is steeper, deeper and more technically challenging. With 10 meter cliff jumps, double tier water slides and a 25 meter waterfall abseil ….. it’s not for the faint-hearted!
