If Montefalco is the perfect starting point for exploring Umbria, Fonte Sala is the country resort where you can delight your senses while living in beautifully restored accommodations surrounded by one of the most alluring views of the whole region.

Fonte Sala’s history begins more than a century ago, when the forefather of the Montalcini family fell in love with this magical corner of Umbria. In 1913 Camillo Montalcini bought Fonte Sala: a farm consisting of 12 hectares of cultivated fields, in the municipality of Montefalco.

Up until the ’90 the farm remained a small agricultural holding, run by peasants and breeders living in Fonte Sala. All changed after 1997: Fonte Sala was completely renovated and converted into a tourist residence thanks the constant work and commitment of Francesco.

The renovation works lasted five years and brought the additions of two independent houses from the main building, a garage and a swimming pool. Today, the activity is carried on by the fourth generation of Montalcini, witnesses of the love and dedication that their ancestors have always had for this land.

FARM
Ours is a small family business that cultivates the 12 hectares of the Fonte Sala land, ac-cording to the organic method, certified since 2015.

WINE
We have chosen to cultivate in our 6 hectares of vineyards only Sagrantino grapes, a precious native vine variety from Umbria. During the harvest, usually in October, for all those who are in Fonte Sala it is impossible not to be enchanted by the particular red leaves of this vine. A biological foliage that since 2016, we sell with pride to the Aboca agricultural farm, an Italian leader in the production and processing of medicinal plants.

OLIVE OIL
Leccino, Frantoio and Moraiolo: these are the olive varieties that make up the 750 plants present at Fonte Sala. From these excellent raw ingredients we produce our olive oil, which we offer to our guests by supplying it in all the houses and that we sell in bottles and in tins (50 cl, 1 lt, 3,5 lt).

THE HOUSES
The agritourism consists of a swimming pool surrounded by olive trees and 5 independent apartments overlooking the garden, furnished with family antiques and equipped with all comforts.

TORRE
Inside a square tower once built on ancient Langobardic structures you will find the Tower. This apartment, laid out over the tower’s three levels, is Fonte Sala’s largest. The entrance to the Torre is characterized by a large window overlooking the garden. On the ground floor are the living area, consisting of a living room with fireplace, a dining room, a spacious kitchen and a small bathroom.

On the first floor are the bedroom area, with two double bedrooms, one single bedroom and two bathrooms. While on the second floor is a bedroom in the ancient tower. The ground floor of the Torre overlooks the garden and features an equipped patio, perfect during the warm months for enjoying outdoor meals in complete privacy.

BACCO
Bacco is in the main building of Fonte Sala. Characterized by a prestigious lounge at the first floor with panoramic windows on all four sides. Bacco is laid out on two floors. On the ground floor are a large kitchen, a double bedroom and a single bed-room, both with bathroom.

A staircase leads to the large living room on the first floor, with a fire-place and windows overlooking the view. The old, beautifully preserved wooden beams of the ceiling are supported by impressively large trusses. The living room leads to another double bedroom with bathroom.

Through the living room you will access another double bedroom with bathroom. The ground floor of the Bacco apartment overlooks the garden and features a furnished patio, perfect in warm weather for enjoying outdoor meals in complete privacy.
