Nestled into the west bank of the River Fowey, with picture-perfect views over Fowey’s estuary, this 37-room boutique hotel offers a quintessential seaside getaway. A full renovation in 2019 has added vibrant and colourful contemporary interiors throughout, inspired by Fowey’s rich history of exotic world travel.

Most common rooms and bedrooms have estuary and harbour views. The newly restored hotel features a stunning wrap-around terrace, and two-tiered gardens, an upper garden next to the hotel and a lower garden situated down some steps right at the water’s edge.

For eating and drinking, the hotel’s Harbour Kitchen, Bar & Terrace offers casual, all-day dining – with those enviable views. Food is light, seasonal, and locally-sourced to showcase the region’s flavours.

The menu also features many of Harbour Hotel’s signature dishes, including the Harbour Fish Pie, sensational seafood burger, tempura prawns, home-cured smoked salmon and divine desserts.

There’s an extensive drinks menu, featuring eclectic wines from around the world, sweet wines, sherries, our own exclusive cocktails (including a selection of espresso martinis and negronis) and, last but not least, local craft beers by bottle and on draught.

In keeping with the Cornwall traditions, there’s also a selection of locally-made gins. Perfect for sipping on the terrace whilst drinking in the view.

For those who can drag themselves away from the hotel to go out exploring, it’s a 5-minute walk to the quaint, bustling fishing town of Fowey, with its pretty, crooked little streets, lined with independent boutiques that run down to the water.

History and character abound; the town has been in existence since well before the Norman invasion; the local church was established sometime in the 7th century.

In the other direction, it’s a short walk to the beach at Readymoney Cove and the famous South West Coastal Path walk. See our staff’s recommendations of the best activities, attractions & events in the Fowey and wider Cornwall area here. Much of the hotel is accessible, and help is always on hand for those who need assistance. Families are welcome.

FOWEY’S BEST WALKS
There’s nothing like a nice walk to get some fresh air, to see the local sights and scenery, to feel good about yourself afterwards, and to reduce your guilt when tucking into a Harbour Hotels afternoon cream tea.

Fowey is pronoun for its beautiful scenery and local walks. Ask our reception team for a printed map showing the locations and descriptions of our five favourite walks.

FOWEY’S BEST BEACHES
For those craving a day at the beach, Fowey has some nice sandy beaches close by. We’ve created a map with locations and descriptions of our favourite beaches in the local area. Ask our reception team to print one off for you.

We can lend you Harbour Hotels ‘Little luxuries’ for the beach: blankets, windbreaks, fold-up seats, kites to fly, and of course buckets and spades. On request, we’ll also pack you a luxury Harbour Hotels picnic, packed with home-made goodies, including a couple of local specialities.

LUXURY PICNIC
The Fowey Harbour Hotel is surrounded by stunning scenery, nature reserves, forests, and golden beaches. What better way to get out and appreciate it – and to relax – than a picnic?

Our chefs have created a special luxury picnic – one full-size in a picnic basket, for when you plan to camp down and go nowhere, and one half-picnic in a backpack that’s easier to carry if you’ll be moving around. Both picnics are packed with home-made goodies.

Aside from delicious food & drink, on request we’ll also equip you with some Harbour Hotels ‘little luxuries’ for picnics: a picnic blanket, fold-up seats, kites to fly, a boule set, and for the beach: buckets, spades, and a windbreak. If you’re going somewhere near swans and ducks, ask us for a bag of feed.

We’ve created a map showing our recommended picnic locations in the local area. Ask our reception tea to print one off for you. And remember – we have a number of bikes you may use if you want to cycle there and back.

CRUISING ON A LUXURY MOTORBOAT
Sometimes sea views are just not enough – you need to get out on the water. Which is why the Fowey Maritime Centre offers a selection of great cruises out to sea on their Fairline Targa Cruiser, ‘Water Lily’.

Cruises are available in the mornings, the afternoons, at sunset or for a full day. You can choose your destination to suit your requirements – or take the advice of your skipper on the day. Half-day charters head to Mevagissey or Polperro; full day charters to Mylor, Plymouth or Falmouth. All of them have great pubs, restaurants, and of course pasty shops.

Our recommendation: ask us to pack you a Harbour Hotels luxury picnic to take with you, then moor up off the coast of Lantic Bay to feast, enjoy the view and perhaps even swim/snorkel off the back of the boat. However you decide to do it, it comes with a guarantee of peace and relaxation, and a stress-reducing dose of fresh sea air with good scenery.
