THE RESTAURANT
We present: The heart of our inn. Our restaurant is by far not everything that can be found here. But whoever speaks of the “Krone” often means what is on offer in our hospitable dining rooms on the first floor. Welcome to the heart of the action. Where our philosophy really takes shape.
THE TOBLER STUBE
The Tobler-Stube on the first floor of the “Krone” is dedicated to the composer Johann Heinrich Tobler. He is the creator of the Landsgemeinde song “ODE AN GOTT”, the catchy melody that connects the entire canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden. Tobler was a lot more: Ausserrhoden clerk, member of the government, planner of the protestant church in Speicher.
THE KRUSI STUBE
In the course of his life, Hans Krüsi has developed from an orphan to an often ridiculed flower seller to an internationally sought-after artist. A story like from a fairy tale. And this took its course in Speicher, where Krüsi came to foster parents as a small child. His wonderful world of idiosyncratic creations was the inspiration behind the construction of the Krüsi-Stube.
THE EUGESTER STUBE
The brothers Howard and Arthur Eugster are inextricably linked to the history of the village of Speicher. Both initially worked as pastors, but later also embarked on a political career. The result was a curiosity: the Eugster brothers were both members of the National Council for a while, albeit in different political camps. The Eugster-Stube is dedicated to her memory.
THE CELLAR
We are proud of our wines. That’s why we like to show them. Our “Kronenkeller” is the perfect place for aperitifs, tastings or wine evenings. Lovingly restored and yet preserved in its original atmosphere. If you like what you see and taste, you can buy the wines. For themselves. Or for someone who deserves something special.
THE COFFE BAR
A meeting point in the middle of the village. Inviting and attractive. For families and craftsmen, club friends and village visitors. The “Kronen-Turm” for breakfast or the hearty “Tucked-in” for mid-morning.
Coffee and cake with kith and kin. A beer after work or an aperitif with friends at the bar. Just like that or for a specific occasion. With homemade specialties. Regional and seasonal.

Creativity arises when we feel good. Good ideas need room to develop. That’s why our coach house is made for your seminar, for conferences and further training. Large and bright. Modern furnishings. APPENZELL
So much is tempting in the immediate vicinity. Speicher and the immediate vicinity are rich in opportunities for different activities in every season.
Even if the village is manageable and familiar, it boasts a complete infrastructure. These include various shops, an indoor swimming pool, tennis court, ski lift, playground, cultural facilities and sights as well as an extensive network of hiking trails.
