Two hearts beat in me: one loves design and the other urban culture. I am the Nomad Design & Lifestyle Hotel. Deep inside, in my Eatery, I am wild like a jungle. My beat changes with every person who walks through my door. But I remain true to myself: wild like the jungle.
My two architecturally handsome buildings have been standing in the middle of Basel, the city of art and culture, since 2016. People like the open look and feel. My design & lifestyle, along with the rhythm and feel of the place, will conjure up a whole new world for you. Step right in. I, along with all of us here at Nomad, will welcome you and take care of you.
Once upon a time, in the 1950s, I was the first apartment house in Basel and an architectural eye-catcher. Today, the facade is a reminder of that time. When the building opened as a hotel, I was born again. I got a second heart: in it beats the design & lifestyle rhythm.
URBAN CLUB ROOMS
With your first step into one of the Urban Club rooms you immediately feel my urban beat in the back building. A shell of exposed concrete for the gut, warm oak wood for the soul, and soft & colorful fabrics for the heart. I would like to highlight in particular the access to the Library Club – exclusive for guests who book an Urban Club Room.
URBAN CLUB JUNIOR SUITE
The Junior Suite is something very special for me. Just like your need for more space and more luxury. It provides both, in the midst of burlesque architecture. Unique and incredibly sexy! You’ll want to live here, I promise!
DESIGN ROOMS
Rooms like a haute couture collection – tasteful, discreet and each one unique. The original design material floats above the exposed concrete floor like hummingbirds above a sandy Caribbean beach.
DESIGN PENTHOUSE SUITE
My design jewel, the highlight of the sixth floor. The Design Penthouse Suite offers just about everything you need for an extravagant visit with me. In the morning you wake up on the sunny side, and in the evening you enjoy a pre-dinner drink on the balcony with the evening sun. You are on top of the world here!
DESIGN CLUB ROOM
You’re a demanding person and need variety. I understand that. That’s why this room comes with the privileges of the Library Club. Move around the hotel as if you were at home, and enjoy the spaciousness and perks I have to offer you. You deserve it.
NOMAD EATERY
I’m the colorful bird who’s got rhythm. My wings stretch from the jungle growing under a wooden framework inspired by the architecture of traditional Japanese temples to the oasis that brings life to a downtown sidewalk outside the large sliding windows.
NOMAD BAR
The heat is on! I experience the atmosphere at the bar day in and day out, and it’s great. People like you come here, and they know what they want. Or they get a big surprise they can’t resist. Hand-picked spirits and homemade liqueurs that are shaken or …? You know what I’m thinking! Each cocktail gets its own glass. You’ll feel like Hemingway.
RUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE
You still don’t know what to do on New Year’s Eve? Just relax. Maybe that’s not so important. You are always welcome at the Nomad. Have a snack through our menu, from salty to sweet, from cold to hot. Afterwards, grab the next cocktail at the bar – or maybe even a pitcher?
From 6pm, the sounds aim for your heart and your hips. Not so bad if it gets later – or even logical. Because the Jungle never sleeps. You want to get into the jungle, then bring all your friends! Together it will be wild, jungle-wild.
LIBRARY CLUB
Well-conceived, cozy and remarkably quiet. That’s the Library. It has a very special meaning for me, because it connects my urban heart to my design heart – the back building with the front building. Through the big window you can see both buildings and look directly into the jungle in the courtyard.
Your first steps towards deep work. Start with some food and drink for energy, sit down in the comfortable leather chair and create, step-by-step, some distance between you and the outside world. Take your time and concentrate on your projects. Or just read a book in comfort.
EVENTS
There are plenty of ideas for parties, and plenty of reasons for them. But there’s only one place where both go hand in hand. My chefs Lukas and Bledar are always ready for you with seasonally adapted menus. Don’t hesitate to contact me and let’s plan your event together.
MEETINGS
The best ideas are born over a beer. But I also understand that you need to discuss some things in private. You’ll certainly need something to write with, make a presentation and quench your thirst.
I’ve already prepared everything. Pads & flipcharts, projectors and mineral water are ready. The business space is not necessarily for business only. The jungle is now behind you, and you can focus fully on the essentials.
