Our multiple awarded Hotel Gut Steinbach is happy to accommodate these amenities with a wide range of options: Since 2011, we have developed the estate on a sunny high plateau into a home retreat in the Chiemgau mountains in the bavarian alps, which meets different kind of needs with its furnishings and comfort.

Families, sport fans, lovers of the region, nature lovers, traditionalists – the authenticity and the related values ensure everyone’s very personal moment of happiness here in the Chiemgau. As advocates of harmony between humans, nature and animals we live a strictly way of sustainability.

Begining at the choice of raw materials of our interior and ending last but not least in the culinary art of our chef Achim Hack. Our premise is to recieve 80 percent of our foods in a maximum distance of 80 kilometers.

A condition you can feel and taste – experience it yourself. We have also expanded our wellness area to 2,000 square meters to create a Heimat & Natur SPA with a panorama sauna, several oases of calm and even a library.

In addition, our guests can look forward to an 18-meter-long indoor pool and a completely new SPA offer for relaxation and wellbeing. We’re looking forward to your visit!

A home-like mountain retreat
With Gut Steinbach, Klaus Graf von Moltke fulfilled a childhood dream. In 2011 he took over the aging Hotel Steinbacher Hof – well aware of the potential that lay behind the stock and the associated area of 51 hectares.

He was inspired by the idea of sustainability and the idea of leaving behind something very special for the next generation. Take a piece of earth and give it back, just as it should be: authentic, traditional, sustainable in the true sense.

After an initial revitalization, extension and renovation of the main house, a holistic ensemble with various residential and feel-good havens together with a chalet village was built in further project phases up to 2017.

Particular attention was paid to the aspect of sustainability with regard to the highest possible quality and locally sourced products, such as the use of wood, which comes primarily from the surrounding area and the Gut Steinbach forest.

The entire resort is optimized by a certified organic farm. The animal inhabitants, including yaks, deer, chickens, pigs and goats, underline the idea of sustainability and make Gut Steinbach a real estate.

The combination of authenticity and attention to detail is the foundation stone for the shared aspiration of Graf von Moltke and his team: Your retreat in the mountains.

Guests and visitors who come to our estate in the heart of the Chiemgau Alps for the first time quickly learn what it means to us to place sustainability not just as an empty phrase in an advertising brochure, but rather to make it tangible in every possible detail: Starting with the building materials, which were used for the revitalization and extension measures under the inclusion of traditional craftsmanship, up to our own, certified organic farm with wild game, pigs, goats, chickens and yaks.

At Gut Steinbach, we also pay particular attention to sustainability and resource conservation by ensuring that 80% of our products are locally sourced within a radius of 80 km.

For our guests, however, the unique variety of leisure activities in the region will also be in the foreground. This makes the Gut Steinbach a real “retreat in the mountains”: families, couples or single travelers will find the ideal compromise between high recreational value and relaxation in harmony with nature.

Sustainable & regional
80: 80. The credo that we live at Gut Steinbach is easy to explain. 80 percent of the food that we process in our hotel comes to us from a maximum of 80 kilometers away. In this way, we not only maintain regional trade and support the Bavarian economy, but can also serve our guests the best of Bavaria.

Honest, authentic and sustainable. The use of fairly produced food that has a short way to the consumer is very important to us and is also reflected in the quality of the dishes from our kitchen.

The main house: Hotel Gut Steinbach
In our Hotel Gut Steinbacher Haupthaus there are 50 rooms and suites as well as our restaurant HEIMAT, our cozy dining rooms with sun terrace and the fireplace bar.

Pure relaxation awaits you at our Gut Steinbach Beauty & Spa area. Companies will also find an ideal location in the modern conference area for meetings and seminars. Everything under one roof!

MOLTKE Penthouse Suite
The Moltke penthouse suite (approx. 110m²) in the main house with two bedrooms and a living room with a beautiful glass front and south-facing balcony is ideal for families. A nice bathroom with tub and shower as well as a separate toilet.

Our MOLTKE Penthouse Suite has a small kitchenette with two hot plates, small oven, coffee machine, electric kettle and a small fridge. An integrated tiled stove creates a cosy atmosphere.

Steinbach Suite
The Steinbach Suite (approx. 45m²) with bathtub and separate living and sleeping areas is a combination of rustic wood furniture, elegant chairs and delicate accessories which all in a mountain, forest and hunting theme. Guests have a view of ski jump from the balcony.

Family suite Steinplatte
The family suite Steinplatte (approx. 90m²) with three bedrooms and a living room is ideal for families. Beautiful bathrooms with tub or shower, as well as balconies with a view of the Kaisergebirge mountains, guarantee high living comfort.

Comfort double room
In these single rooms (approx. 15m²) with bathroom with shower, checkered carpets, elegant armchairs, rustic wooden furniture and living accessories with hunting charm create a cozy, heartwarming living ambiance. Some of the rooms have balconies with view into green nature or at the Kaisergebirge.

The Steinbacher Hof
A house in the hotel almost all to yourself. Enjoy your stay in one of the three suites in our Steinbacher Hof. The Steinbacherhof was also named as a reminiscence to the old “Steinpacher Hof”.

Since 2016 it offers a choice of two suites of approx. 75 m² each and a master suite of approx. 120 m² on two floors, each with a fireplace, kitchenette and terraces or balconies. The view: pure nature!

The Master Suite (approx. 92m²) in the Steinbacher Hof with two bedrooms and a living room on 2 floors is ideal for families. A nice bathroom with tub and shower as well as a separate toilet.

A terrace with a view to the Kaisergebirge guarantees high living comfort. Our Master Suite has a small kitchenette with two hot plates, coffee machine, electric kettle and microwave and a small refrigerator. An integrated fireplace creates a cozy atmosphere.

The Chalet Village in Chiemgau
10,000m² of idyllic local color par excellence: seven chalets nestled around a natural pond in Upper Bavaria as if they had always been there.

Each has between 150 to 185m² of living space on approx. 700 m² of ground. Built in the traditional Chiemgau style with craftsmen mostly from the immediate vicinity: valuable, genuine, authentic.

The furnishings could not be more elegant: fabrics by Pierre Frey, furniture from BW Bielefelder Werkstätten, surprisingly modern in form and color interpretation. Two to three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and a fireplace or stove.

For absolute relaxation, every chalet has a private spa area with sauna/infrared, splash shower and relaxation area. And if that’s not enough relaxation, you can also try some detox.

Our claim to our homeland is found in soil, peace and tradition. This makes it quite clear that what is on the table is not only strictly regional and seasonal, but that we take responsibility for knowing where our ingredients come from.

Our credo is that 80% of the food comes from within a radius of 80 km. This guarantees the sustainability aspect in our kitchens and leaves us room to surprise you from time to time.

CHEF ACHIM HACK
Gut Steinbach is committed to uncompromising sustainability – also, and above all, in terms of culinary delights. Achim Hack, as the responsible chef, implements a consistent regional kitchen philosophy in our retreat, which, combined with the refinement of the high culinary school, brings with it a very special character.

In Hack’s kitchen, therefore, mostly locally sourced products are used, some of which come from our own farm. From our chickens’ eggs and herbs from the garden to meat products from our own game. The result: down-to-earth modern dishes with a special reference to traditional Bavarian cuisine.

Restaurant HEIMAT
The HEIMAT restaurant with its three lounges in Reit im Winkl is a very special place to explore the culinary subtleties of head chef Achim Hack. In the restaurant, which has been furnished with great attention to detail, our definition of local cuisine is also lived in the ambience – and loved by our guests.

In addition to the lovingly designed HEIMAT, which, as the name suggests, makes a special reference to our roots, conveys values that inspire us and creates a very homely feeling of security, we welcome our guests in three additional rooms.

In Bavaria, a parlor always has the character of a living room and used to be the only room in a living room or farmhouse that was heated. The family life therefore mainly took place in the living room.

Accordingly, we connect our rooms with a feeling of security and at the same time see them as a place of communication and shared enjoyment.

In keeping with our demand for individuality, we would like to give our guests an impression with the different design of the three rooms, which currents in Reit im Winkl have their influence and how the values in the area behave.

So you have the choice between the Auerhahn Stuben, the Bayern Stuben and the Tiroler Stuben. The former deals with its tiled stove and the focus on the wild animals of the Chiemgau with the traditional craft of a hunter and looks a bit like a rustic hunting lodge in the mountains.

A little further north of the mighty Alps is the Bayern Stuben, which with its lighter wood, plenty of daylight and wood paneling creates a cozy atmosphere. The Tiroler Stuben, on the other hand, is already deeper in the Chiemgau in terms of name and appearance and makes use of the influence of our neighboring country.

The darker and heavy wood can be found on the ceiling, walls and floor, but is loosened up by fine carvings and light-colored fabrics and thus looks particularly stylish. The menu is identical in all rooms as well as in the Heimat restaurant and you decide on the principle that the eye is always eating, for a guest room.

Fireplace Bar
A relaxing afternoon with coffee and fresh cake or as an aperitif after an eventful day in nature: enjoy the selection in our fireplace bar all day long. When the weather is fine, our terrace lures with its very special flair in front of the backdrop of the surrounding mountain landscape.

The MOLTKE Wine lounge
You will find our MOLTKE wine lounge on the upper floor of our forester’s house. A wonderful place to relax, read, and cuddle around the crackling open fire.

Under mighty beams, hand-cut in the nearby forests and assembled into a very special refuge using traditional craftsmanship, it is not only the day that ends comfortably. The MOLTKE wine lounge is also the ideal retreat on Gut Steinbach for bookworms, those who enjoy quiet hours, poets and thinkers.

Thanks to the large glass surfaces, there is always enough light and in the evening the open fireplace illuminates the lounge with atmospheric light. In addition to an exclusive library with many literary classics, illustrated books and exciting books, there is a coffee machine, soft drinks and beer for your physical well-being.

The MOLTKE wine lounge would not bear its name if there wasn’t wine for our guests. Since 2015 we have also officially been a code-certified location by KodexGuide.de that meets the strict criteria of many companies, e.g. from the pharmaceutical industry.

Our guests have access to an ultra-modern conference area in an exclusive ambience and with personal support. The two rooms “Zahmer Kaiser” and “Wilder Kaiser” can be variably seated and can accommodate up to 60 people.

Go on an extended hike or bike ride with a mountain bike or e-bike along beautiful alpine pastures and enjoy the fantastic view of the Kaiser Mountains and the Unterberg. The area offers numerous possibilities for excursions and makes your summer vacation unforgettable.

Hindenburghütte hiking trail
Option 1: Start directly from the hotel on a rather demanding ascent to the Hindenburghütte. First you run parallel to our ski jumping hill, in the forest, uphill. Follow the path up to the top and follow the signs towards Hindenburghütte.

Via ferrata Reit im Winkl
Due to the beautiful nature and the medium difficulty tour with a total of 170 meters of altitude, the path is considered the pleasure via ferrata in Chiemgau. Enjoy the breathtaking view over Reit im Winkl!

Mountain bike tours
Via Blindau we follow the signs to the Klausenbergalm. We reach the alpine pasture area after approx. 3 km along the Klausenbach. From Garadaus we drive the path past the beautiful alpine pastures, after a mostly closed gate we reach a forest road.

Following the signs to Kössen, we reach the highest point with a great view of the Unterberg and the Kaiser Mountains. From here the descent begins. We always follow the well-developed forest road to the state road.

We turn right on the street and turn left at the second parking bay, thus crossing the street Kössen – Reit im Winkl at the Neuwirt.

Keeping to the right of the Ache, we take the path to the center of Kössen and turn right before the war memorial, always following the signs for Moserbergweg, Peternhof. The fantastic view of the Kaiser Mountains and the Unterberg makes up for all the effort.

At km 14 we reach the Peternhof, but keep straight ahead at the signs for “Fußweg Reit im Winkl”. We cross the border past the golf course and drive back via Oberbichlerstrasse and Birnbacherstrasse via the center of Reit im Winkl to Gut Steinbach.
