Since 1912 5 generations succeed to Marie-Louise THIBAUT who restore the hostellerie et create for example the famous galette.

During 100 years the Hostellerie Du Vieux Perouges  started by a little cafe to the restaurant with its 18 rooms in 3 different houses. Many moovies have been shooted and a lot of famous personalities have stayed and today we do the best to keep traditions of hospitality and gastronomy.

A cosy atmosphere combines old-fashioned elegance with refined food and service. Separate dining rooms and function rooms provide seating for up to 180.

Local specialties (morel mushrooms, crayfish, lake and pond fish, …) and home-made delights (Pérouges flat cake, the famous “galette pérougienne”, reviving Ypocras wine from the Middle Ages) are served in period costume. Free wifi. Open daily, but not on Wednesday and Thursday, for lunch and dinner.

It is a unique place in France, a set of 4 houses from the 15th to the 18th century, all carefully restored, scattered around the village – in satellite of the main building, where you can have breakfast and meals.

The Thibault family has owned it since 1912, and it has housed or nurtured all the personalities of the political world and entertainment that each era has been able to create. The rooms in the Manoir and the building called Saint-Georges are the most beautiful (and the most expensive!).

Period furniture, canopies very often – they display great style. Those in the Pavillon and the Saisons building are simpler and said to be “rustic”, but all are very well kept, with an undeniable charm!

The small medieval town of Pérouges forms an exceptional ensemble, branched out by narrow streets lined with noble Renaissance facades, punctuated by a small garden or an open-air ruin overgrown with vegetation.

Ideal for letting yourself be won over by this atmosphere which evokes a bit of a Tuscan city, the Hostellerie du Vieux Pérouges brings together several very old scattered houses. Some are proud of authentic period furniture and marble bathrooms – with a splendid view and a delicious verdant terrace here, a small private garden there…

Others are very classic and simpler. None are ever very far from the main square, paved with large pebbles, where the restaurant is located. There too, the medieval atmosphere is on the menu: wide slatted floor, kneaders, dressers, deep hearth where a few large logs often burn.

We like to take refuge there at any time of the day, around a tea and a sugar pie, one of the specialties. Or to taste the tempting regional cuisine, served in traditional costume. A charming address, hermetic to current trends, just like Pérouges.
