They are founded on local, fresh ingredients from regional producers – or direct from our kitchen garden, cheese from the alpine pastures around Meransen / Maranza and wines from the best sellers in the land.

We believe that a really good day can only begin with a healthy, invigorating mountain breakfast.
Our buffet includes the best South Tyrolean varieties of bread, delicious jams and spreads, cheese and sausage specialities from South Tyrol and Italy, fresh eggs, yoghurt, sweet treats and vitamin bombs to get you fit for a day in the mountains.
Plus, as much coffee as you could wish for, varieties of tea from all over the world, fruit juices and organic milk… and, once a week, why not treat yourself to a drop of sparkling wine?
South Tyrolean snack platter
Oh yes, fresh alpine air makes you hungry! But don’t worry – a quick trip to the typical South Tyrolean “marende” buffet will help to curb any hunger pangs on an afternoon. Here you’ll find traditional mountain food for the soul: homemade sweet dishes and a hearty soup of the day.
Evening menu
One thing is certain: the evenings are enjoyable. The Bacherhof gourmet menu is the culinary highlight of what is anyway a “g’schmackig” (tasty) day. We’ll cook up a storm for you! Every day there is a choice of several set menu options from our alpine-Mediterranean kitchen.
Plus, there’s crisp salads and vegetables from our own garden. Weekly specials: aperitif reception with candlelight gala dinner, cheese buffet, dessert buffet, our South Tyrolean and Italian evening.
Wine cellar
Wine at the Bacherhof is the kingdom, and pride and joy of our favourite moustache wearer and sommelier, Toni.
In our excellently stocked wine cellar there are selected top quality South Tyrolean wines, first class Italian vintages and the odd rarity or two. Once a week we offer a tasting session here with excellent wines, fine varieties of cheese and South Tyrolean speciality dishes.
HONEY MASSAGE
The honey massage uses the power of hot honey on the back The special tapping technique transports waste products and toxins to the surface. The back is then purified with hot compresses and the whole body treated to a relaxing oleation. The skin appears soft and smooth, and the muscles are well-perfused and relaxed.

Not only does a Lomi massage help with relaxation, it also provides physical, emotional and mental purification according to your needs.
The Huna concept of health and illness is similar to that of traditional Chinese medicine, in that energy (mana) flows in a healthy body, whilst illnesses cause blockages that manifest physically as tension.
Massage is intended to relieve those blockages on a physical and emotional level and restore the harmony of body, mind and soul.

HIKING IN THE ALPINE REGION RIO PUSTERIA
Let’s put it this way: summer, Maranza and hiking – the three things simply belong together. Valles, Maranza and the Fundres Valley are all top destinations for hikers.
The absolute calm of the mountains, the unspoilt nature and rustic idyll of the alpine pastures, and refuge huts with magnificent views mean that every hike becomes an unforgettable experience.

NORDIC WALKING
Yes, the Bacherhof loves the good life! We recommend Nordic walking as a balanced way of getting a fitness kick. In Meransen there are several panoramic Nordic walking trails that you can discover either alone or in a group.
All you need is the urge to exercise in the fresh air, a pair of trainers and sticks. We will be happy to loan you the Nordic walking sticks.
MOUNTAIN BIKING
The sunny plateau where Meransen lies is the perfect base for all kinds of mountain biking adventures. It doesn’t matter whether you’re an experienced pro or a leisure cyclist – there’s a route for everyone here.
Take the forest tracks up to the high alpine pastures, zip down the mountain on downhill runs, or go for a leisurely pedal down in the valley along the popular South Tyrol cycle path. So, what are you waiting for? Time to get in the saddle!
SOUTH TYROL BALANCE
The Balance events that are offered in South Tyrol in spring are an especially good way of making the very most of springtime in the mountains in Meransen.
With this programme, the Gitschberg-Jochtal alpine region has completely dedicated itself to health, balance and renewal. The itinerary includes valuable experiences of nature with a wealth of ideas for greater serenity and strength.
WINTER IN MERANSEN
Winter is the favourite time of year for many Maranza fans. And no wonder! In the cold season the plateau is transformed into a white, sparkling fairy-tale landscape.
SKIING HOLIDAYS
From your breakfast table straight onto the slopes – no problem at the Bacherhof! The lifts in the popular family ski resort of Gitschberg-Jochtal are only about 500 metres away – just a stone’s throw with the hotel shuttle!
Here there are 15 modern lifts, including the new 10-seater “Ski Express” gondola, 55 km of perfectly groomed slopes at an altitude where snow is a certainty, a unique panoramic view and rustic mountain chalets where you can stop for a snack and a drink.
A quick trip to the surrounding ski resorts or an unforgettable day’s skiing on the Sella Ronda is always worthwhile!
WINTER FOR KIDS
Our favourite ski resort, Gitschberg-Jochtal, is perfect for a day’s skiing with the kids. Not overrun with skiers, nice and compact, with genuinely family-friendly slopes.
In addition, our ski schools offer a nationally recognised and educationally worthwhile beginners’ skiing programme with lots of experience on the slopes, games, fun and lunch with your group.
SNOWSHOEING
In an idyllic winter world with countless chalets and refuge huts, winter hiking is always a truly special and rewarding pleasure. Be it with snowshoes or winter boots, there are endless possibilities.
The routes to the Zassler Hut, on the Plattspitze or to the Moser Hut are especially panoramic. The alpine chalet village of Fane Alm and the snow-covered gorges up to the Brixner Hut are also well worth the effort of exploring!
CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING
The Lobenweg cross-country skiing trail in Meransen is in a particularly idyllic location and is especially well-suited to skate skiing. It starts from the Altfasstal car park, leads through unspoilt mountain landscapes and offers fabulous views of Meransen and the Eisack Valley.
At 8 km long, covering a difference in altitude of 270 metres, and with a degree of difficulty ranging from easy to moderate, it is exactly what nature-lovers are looking for.
Especially lovely cross-country skiing trails that are also marked out for skiing in the classic style await in the neighbouring village of Vals and on the Rodenecker Alm, the plateau with guaranteed vistas.
