Fly to the majestic peaks of the Mehlsack (2,652 metres) or Schneetäli mountains (2,450 metres). The destination of this impressive one-hour ski run is the wildly romantic tributary valley Zug at Lech.

Cool Fun park for Snowboarder
On the sunny side of St. Anton a true El Dorado is waiting for snowboarders – the fun park at the Rendl mountain in the Arlberg region. 10 barriers in total, including Pro Jumps, Washboard, Table Top, Slides and Fun Box guarantee unrestricted fun and adventure on snowboards.

To ensure a fair share of fun for everyone, the motivated members of staff keep the fun park in a perfect state with cutting-edge technology the entire winter. Experience 100% fun on the slopes: 70% of the slopes are prepared for high speed, 15% are gentle slopes perfectly suited for beginners.

The longest piste for boarders is the 9 kilometres of the Riffl-course down into the valley. You start at 2,650 metres and race down to your goal at 1,350 metres.

Fans of cross country skiing will find a number of cross country skiing trails and special tracks for this skating technique. Discover the beauties of Tyrolean nature during your winter holidays at the Hotel Gridlon on cross country skis.

Cross-Country Skiing
A network of 40 kilometres of cross country skiing trails will ensure you have a cross country skiing experience that is in a class of its own. The Land of Tyrol awarded the approximately 40 kilometre-long network of trails with the cross-country skiing seal of approval.

The cross country skiing aficionado will profit greatly from this quality check – the advantages are a high degree of snow reliability, good signposting of the routes, the number and length of the trails with varying degrees of difficulty and parking facilities for day visitors.

Every Monday and Friday right before sundown until 8.30 pm. A clear winter sky, perfect snow and the peace and quiet of a winter’s night – maybe you will meet a few other enthusiasts such as yourself.

Snowy forests, secretive forest animals, glorious sapphire skies and the brilliant winter sun: cross country skiing on the numerous trails of the Arlberg region in Austria is pure pleasure.

Verwall trail
The ten kilometres of the Verwall trail will leave your mouth agape: it is one of the most beautiful trails in Austria. A variety of alternating ascents and downhill runs lead the trail through the romantic Verwalltal valley, whose charm you might not want to resist.

At the end of the trail enjoy the marvellous view of the Verwallsee reservoir or treat yourself to coffee and cake at the Verwall inn.

Additional runs at the Arlberg

The 2.5 kilometres of the St. Chrisoph trail are a high trail of medium difficulty at 1800m with skating track – an ideal point for meeting downhill skiers.

The 22 kilometres of the Stanzertal trail are in close vicinity to the Wellness-Park Pettneu, a gentle trail along the shores of the Rosanna River to Flirsch or St. Anton.

The three kilometres of the Ganderau circular trail are connected to the Stanzertal trail – an easy circular route which is also suitable as a trail for dogs. Have a nice winter day with your four-legged friend!

Beside the classic cross country trails special skating tracks are waiting for you (after heavy snowfalls preparations might take up to one day) – here sports and the experience of nature are in perfect balance.

Tobogganing Fun for the entire Family
There is no fun in winter quite like tobogganing: dart down the tobogganing trails of the Arlberg region with your loved ones. Natural tobogganing runs, toboggan rental service and much more. At the Hotel Gridlon nothing will stop you from this hilarious fun.

Nature Tobogganing Run Pettneu

The wind is howling in your ears; your belly is full of excited butterflies; snow is spraying from the blades of your toboggan: experience the unique fun and adventure of tobogganing.

You will find a 2-kilometre-long illuminated natural tobogganing run in the picturesque village of Pettneu, where the Hotel Gridlon is located. Tobogganing in the evening below the sparkling stars of the night sky is great fun.

Natural tobogganing run in St. Anton

At the St. Anton skiing resort, only a few kilometres away from your Hotel Gridlon, an additional natural tobogganing run can be found. This natural tobogganing run, illuminated at night, leads from the Gampen high plateau down to Nasserein.

Every day ascent is possible between noon and half past four in the afternoon. On your way down, pass the rustic Rodelhütte (“Tobogganing Chalet”).

The 4 kilometre ride takes about 15 minutes and covers 500 metres of altitude. In the right weather conditions the cable car of the Nassereinbahn is available between 19:30 and 21:30 everyday.

Experience traditional Austrian “Hüttengaudi” (roughly translated: hut jamboree) at the Gampen Restaurant every Tuesday and Thursday, before enjoying the highlight of the evening – the tobogganing run into the valley.

Ice Climbing
Experience the fascination of the ice and ice climbing in the Arlberg region of Austria – at the sports centre ArlRock or at Europe’s only winter via ferrata at the Rendl mountain near the Hotel Gridlon.

The sports centre ArlRock in St. Anton is a new Mecca for ice climbing aficionados. Here ice climbing is possible even during your summer holidays. When the ice has melted a similar artificial layer at the ice tower of ArlRock comes to the fore.

Thus this special climbing technique may be practiced all year around. The sports centre offers a choice of more than 100 different climbing routes, including all difficulty levels, ice climbing and bouldering.

Winter fixed rope route
Explore ice climbing at Europe’s only winter via ferrata at the Rendl mountain. Park your car at the station of the Rendlbahn cable car or take the train to St. Anton.

The Rendlbahn cable car will take you up the mountain – should you not be in the possession of a valid ski pass for the Rendl region, the lift to the via ferrata will be twelve Euros.

Then take the slope Piste 4 to the valley station of the Riffel 1 chair lift. From the summit station go to the valley station of the Riffel 2 lift, which will take you to the Riffelscharte at 2,645 metres. Access to the via ferrata is signposted.

The via ferrata is 850 metres long and continuously secured with a steel rope. It is of a high difficulty level – alpine experience is absolutely necessary! You cover 20% of the distance by rock climbing, the rest by walking

Visit the impressive Schloss Hohenschwangau castle. In 1832 the heir to the throne Maximilian – later King Max II of Bavaria – purchased the ruined castle and had it rebuilt by the theatre painter Dominik Quaglio in the English Tudor style.

Or follow the trails of the legendary Bavarian king Ludwig II, who spent the happy days of his childhood at Schloss Linderhof castle. Later the picturesque rococo castle served as his summer residence.

Legendary castle Neuschwanstein, seat of the Bavarian kings, is certainly worth a day trip! The road leading to the castle is closed to traffic. Nostalgic horse-drawn carriages will take you to the fairytale castle of Ludwig II.

Innsbruck

The historic city centre, the famous Hofkirche church and the legendary Golden Roof. A stroll through the picturesque city centre alone is worth the journey. The Golden Roof was built by Archduke Friedrich IV in the early 15th century as the residence of the Tyrolean sovereigns.

The Golden Roof is actually the three-story balcony on the central plaza at the heart of the Old Town. It was constructed for Emperor Maximilian I to serve as a royal box where he could sit in luxury and enjoy tournaments in the square below.

Completed at the dawn of the 16th century, the Golden Roof was built in honour of Maximilian’s second marriage to Bianca Maria Sforza of Milan.

Not wishing to alienate the allies gained by his first marriage to Maria of Burgundy, he had an image of himself between the two women painted on his balcony. The provincial capital of Tyrol lies at a distance of 100 kilometres from the Hotel Gridlon.

Kaunertal Glacier

This high alpine road is 26 km long and was embedded into the landscape with great care in regards to preserving the alpine nature. The marvelous scenery, the majestic glaciers and the awe inspiring summit of the Weißseespitze mountain make this day trip a wonderful nature experience.

Follow the trails of many of the world’s best skiing and snowboarding athletes who use the superb conditions of the glacier for their training during the year.

Originating at Feichten, the 26-kilometre-long scenic route leads past the Gepatsch reservoir to the Gepatschhaus chalet at 2,750 metres above sea level, and further to the glacier region of the Kaunertal valley.

The cable car will take you up to 3,000 metres, from where you may hike to the Three-Country Point with its unique view. The Kaunertaler Glacier is a 1.5 hour drive from Hotel Gridlon.

Swarovski Crystal Worlds
