The Hotel Kiendl near Merano is perfect for those who love a varied holiday in harmony with nature. Relaxation, a variety of leisure activities and cultural sights, you will find all this in our hotel and in the nearby surroundings – in the spa town of Merano, in the Val di Nova or in the hiking area Hirzer and Merano 2000.

7 GOOD REASONS FOR YOUR HOLIDAY AT KIENDL
In the Val di Nova you are surrounded by greenery, woods and apple orchards. In the centre of Merano and environs but far away from the tourist centres, there are excellent public transport connections to Merano, Avelengo and Scena.

LOCATION AND PANORAMA

Lots of free space and nature: The first promise is our unique location in the middle of the greenery of 45,000 square metres of our own apple orchards, away from the highly frequented tourist communities. Nevertheless, you can reach the centre of Merano in just a few (driving) minutes.

NATURE AND GREEN

NEW 2020: even more nature and green was created by extending the sunbathing lawn at the infinity pool with additional sunbathing areas. For your personal freedom there is a spacious outdoor area with many places and retreat possibilities.

AMBIENCE AND SPACE

Old and new have been combined here with sensitivity: in the hotel near Merano you will find traditional elements such as the Tyrolean “Stuben” from the 19th century and modern accents such as the dining rooms in alpine style, furnished with South Tyrolean materials such as oak wood and Sarner porphyry.

CUISINE: ALPINE AND MEDITERRANEAN

The gourmet cuisine at Kiendl delights with freshness and creativity and is accompanied by exquisite South Tyrolean wines. At pleasant temperatures, you can find a place on the garden terrace with a wonderful view of the mountains.

FAMILY-RUN AND PERSONAL

The host tradition of our ancestors has continued for over 450 years. Even today, the Kiendl is still a family-run hotel with personal guest care. We would also like to thank our long-standing qualified staff for their valuable contribution.

WATER AND WELL-BEING

Our two pools are designed for pure well-being. With pleasant water temperatures and an infinite panoramic view you can relax and daydream. From our own spring in the Haflinger mountains, pure, crystal clear spring water flows into the Kiendl and is available to you as a thirst quencher at any time.

ACTIVE – MOBILITY WITHOUT A CAR

With the Citybus you can easily reach the centre of Merano, the Haflinger mountains and the village of Scena in a few minutes. The hiking pleasure also starts directly from the hotel: 500 km of hiking trails around the Kiendl entice you into the open nature.

TRADITION, HISTORY AND HOSTS
On Easter Sunday in 1871, a historically significant event happened for the Austrian imperial family and for our family: the 13-year-old Crown Prince Rudolph, son of Empress Elisabeth of Austria (called “Sissi”) and Emperor Franz Joseph, fell into distress in the mountains during a hike in the Val di Nova near our hotel.

Our great-great-grandmother Karolina Winkler heard his cries for help and started to search. The crown prince’s companions concealed this event. Only years later did the Austrian Emperor learn of the courageous act. In gratitude, the imperial family gave our ancestor a valuable necklace.

About 40 years later, more by chance, our great-grandmother rented the first guest room to two German students. Thus, over time, our current comfort hotel developed.

Today we look back on a tradition of almost 450 years and are very proud of it. Together as a family we continue the tradition and try to set new modern accents and offer our guests a unique atmosphere at the Hotel Kiendl.
