HOLIDAYS IN SOUTH TYROL
Animals also belong to a real farm. And if you are looking for a suitable hotel in South Tyrol, it is also important to know which farm animals your children can learn and experience.

Especially for city children, it is always a special experience to get in touch with four-legged friends, to caress them, to feed them and to appreciate their typical peculiarities. There is plenty of opportunity for us at the Torgglerhof.

The stars in our little farm zoo are our lamas! Under the careful supervision of our senior hotel chef Hans, your children can feed them and the other farm animals with their own mountain pastures

OUR LAMAS
Perhaps you will ask yourself: How will the South American lamas feel in the mountains of South Tyrol? Wonderful! Because This humpless, type of camel full with wool loves mountains. In their homeland, lamas are on the go at heights of up to 5,000 m and carry loads of up to 30 kg even in the thinner mountain air.

They do not have to do this with us. The Eisack valley also offers optimal living conditions, which make these highly social gregarious animals an extraordinary holiday companion.

Since Lamas need the proximity of fellow-species, they are kept by us in a small herd, with which you and your family will surely have great time

SUMMER HOLIDAYS IN SOUTH TYROL

SPRING FUN
In the past, the residents tried to avoid the swampy valleys and thus preferred the mountains on their travel routes. Already in ancient times and in the Middle Ages there were inns, churches, and monasteries on the alpine plateaus.

There have always been many trails through this unique landscape. Quite a few ambassadors of the good life are at home in the Valley of Trails: Wine growers who grow their vines in selected locations, alpine dairymen who are proud of their homemade goat cheese, or herb farmers who turn a piece of earth into a fragrant garden.

Experience the creation of these special flavours of our region up close on guided tours and tastings.

SUMMER DELIGHTS
Attention all bikers! Take your mountain bike free of charge into the cable car and drive up to the altitude of 2,050 m on the Plose. Here, not only the hiking trails run on our local mountain, but also fantastic mountain bike trails.

For your summer holiday in South Tyrol you could not choose a more beautiful area for your tours. Take for example the Plose Single Trail Flow 6.6 km.

It begins at the mountain station and descends over 1,000 m to the valley station – including wild steep curves and challenging downhill passages, which will fascinate every beginner and also give the MTB professionals a pleasant thrill.

HIKING HOLIDAY IN THE DOLOMITES
Enjoy hiking holidays on the Plose in the Eisack valley. This is not called “Valley of the Ways” for nothing. The entire region is a unique hiking paradise – and our hiking hotel in South Tyrol is right in the middle of it.

The Rodenecker / Lüsner Alm in the north, the Dolomite giants of the Peitlerkofel group, the Puez group and the famous Geisler peaks to the south are our large hiking area. Between Rinz and Villnösser Valley you will find the most diverse possibilities for a fulfilled hiking holiday in the Dolomites.

Since the Plose can fill a whole holiday season alone, we would like to introduce you to this impressive mountain in front of our door. It is one of the most beautiful hiking areas in South Tyrol and is only 4 km from the Torgglerhof.

The bus stop is located just 300 meters from the hotel, so you can go hiking without your own vehicle. Anyway the travel with the cable car is free for you as holder of the BrixenCard.

HIKING PARADISE PLOSE
Geographically, the Plose belongs to the Lüsner mountains, which are located east of Brixen. The mountain massif, which is already very imposing from far away, has three peaks: the Gabler (2,576 m), the Pfannspitze (2,547 m and the Telegraph (2,486 m), each of which can be climbed on a 3-summit tour.

As local mountain of Brixen, the Plose is a paradise for hikers with numerous routes for alpine hiking and trekking.

While hiking on the Plose, you can warm up on the easy walk through the easy family walking trail WoodyWalk. Later you will have a tour to the Plose hut, which will welcome you with a unique 360 degree panorama.

NUMEROUS HIKING TOURS
There is a cable car which will take you to the top of the Plose, where you can start your hikes for all tastes, but you might also want to see the overwhelming panorama of the Dolomites and let you lead on a hiking trip on the Plose.

No matter if on an ambitious summit tour, guided hike, a day or a pleasure trip – in your hiking holiday in the Dolomites our Plose will always play a main role.

COME AND VISIT
We would like to mention one place – namely our own alpine hut on the Lüsner Alm. It is open exclusively from May until the beginning of November for our hotel guests – always on Wednesdays. The cozy accommodation is situated on the forest edge, surrounded by greenery.

What do you think about climbing up to it with us, the hosts of the Torgglerhof, during your hiking holiday in the Dolomites? The tour takes about 4 hours (walking time back and forth) and is not so difficult.

Even while you are climbing up to the sunny alpine pasture, you will feel a deep inner peace. The view winds over the high mountain peaks and the children can at last wander freely and without any restrictions, discovering so many exciting things in the forest and on the mountain meadow.

Meanwhile, Hans and Martha, the souls of the Torgglerhof, prepare a hearty South Tyrolean speck snack, which will taste you so well after alpine hiking

MANY EXCURSION DESTINATIONS
Even active tourists in the Dolomites need a break. Then a city visit or a trip to a special place of interest come just right. If you spend your summer holidays in South Tyrol in our region, you do not have to look long for it.

Strolling through the old bishop’s town of Brixen with its winding alleys, baroque buildings, cafes and shops. Test the water slide in the Acquarena fun pool in Brixen. Take part in a free city tour.

Then stop by the Neustift Kloster and take a tour of the vineyards. Or you can visit Ötzi in the Archaeological Museum in Bozen. In your holidays in the Alps trips destinations won’t miss.

AUTUMN PLEASURES – TÖRGGELEN
On the last warm autumn days, the taverns in the lower Isarco Valley open their doors and invite you to the ancient tradition of ‘Törggelen’.

You will feel at home in the rustic parlours, and you might think that the time of our hectic world has been turned back. Sitting together, laughing, sharing experiences and at the same time enjoying the typical specialties of our region.

The origin of ‘Törggelen’ are the wine tastings of the winegrowers, which over time has been moved from the cold cellars to the cosy living rooms. Tasting with relatives and neighbours was of course more fun and the event became ever more sociable.

By the way: The name of the tradition is derived from ‘Torggel’ (Latin: “torquere – to press”), the grape press in the cellar. Törggelen is available where chestnuts and wine grow. Therefore, the custom probably originated in the Isarco Valley.

BIKER HOTEL
Due to our location and the advantages as a biker hotel, we have acquired a good reputation as a biker meeting point over time. As our guest you will surely get to know other bikers from all over Europe – valuable contacts, which will enrich your motorbike holidays in the Dolomites.

Two beautiful tours lead from the Plose mountain station to the picturesque Rossalm (2.5 km) or on the winter hiking trail of the ski huts, going to the huts around the Plose massif. Imposing panorama view over the Eisack valley to the white shining Dolomites is guaranteed!

A LOT OF SLOPES FOR SUPER
No winter holiday in South Tyrol without turbulent tobogganing! If you have used the slopes on the Plose and in other ski areas extensively, you can make a creative break from skiing and sway down one of our natural toboggan runs.

In the Brixen region, there are toboggan runs for every taste: from the only downhill forest path for a lively sleigh ride with the family, up to the fast run, where fast reactions are important.

In addition to popular routes such as the toboggan run Rossalm-Kreuztal or the nature trail Ackerboden / St. Leonhard, we would especially like to recommend the RudiRun slope from the Kreuztal to St. Andrä.

It is 10 km long and takes you to about 1000 m from the heights of the Plose back to our ski hotel in the Dolomites. If you do not have your own toboggan, you can rent a fast-running one at the starting point and return it to your destination.

Your skiing holiday in the Dolomites gets a surprising twist when you go to the Plose in the evening and hike in a homely alpenglow to a rustic alpine hut, where you can spend pleasant moments with Eisack valley specialties, folk music and a great atmosphere.

Then you return back, sledding. There are extra lanterns for sleds that can be borrowed together, making your nightlife a memorable event.

IN AND AROUND BRIXEN
You can spend your winter holidays in South Tyrol in the Advent season and experience how the magical charm of the Christmas season lays down on the snowy Eisack valley.

Mulled wine, almond pastries and other Christmas treats once again taste so well when you combine them with a snowshoeing trip on the Plose, a hike of the mountain huts or a ski trip. Many of our towns and villages have festive Christmas markets with all the charm of South Tyrol, such as Klausen, Mühlbach and Gossensaß.

A splendid Christmas market is held every year in Brixen in the wonderful atmosphere of the Cathedral square. In the episcopal residence (Hofburg), not only the magnificent Nativity Museum has opened, but also top-class Christmas productions are performed there.

And also the Christmas markets in Bozen, Meran, Sterzing and Bruneck are always worth a visit during a skiing holiday in the Dolomites!

MEETING POINT
The Ice rink in Bressanone was opened in 1985. Since then, it has been a popular meeting place for young and old ice-skating enthusiasts as well as a training facility for the Bressanone ice sports clubs HC Falcons (ice hockey) and WSV Bressanone (figure skating and curling).

The Italian national team, the KHL team of HC Vityaz (Russia) and the DEL team Schwenningen Wild Wings (Germany) have already had training camps in the Ice Arena in Bressanone.

Furthermore, every year several Austrian and German hockey teams use the facility to prepare for their championships with short training camps in October and November. The ice rink opens its gates at the beginning of November and awaits you Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. throughout the winter.

Or do you know, for example, Lake Rondella (Radelsee) and the Lodge Radelsee right next to it? Countless legends surround this mountain lake.

ISARCO VALLEY SOUTH TYROL
One of the most important transit routes in the Eastern Alps leads through the Isarco Valley. The enormous economic and strategic importance of the valley is made evident by the many castles and palaces that are lined up across the region – almost like a string of pearls.

Emperors and kings, popes and bishops, traders, merchants, poets and artists and even entire armies – they all used the route across the Brennero Pass. The Isarco Valley connects Germany to the Po Valley, from Central Europe to the Adriatic Sea.

The many castles along the Brennero route served on the one hand to defend and control the traffic route, on the other hand they were also representative buildings that testified to the power and wealth of their owners.

Discover the Fortress Fortezza above Bressanone, the only baroque castle in South Tyrol: Wolfsthurn Castle in Racines, Trostburg, Velthurns Castle, Gernstein Castle near Chiusa and many more.

HIGH-ROPES COURSE
The high-ropes course in Funes is located in a unique panorama under the Odle Peaks in the Funes Valley and is only 50 m from the car park Ranui. Fun and excitement are guaranteed: With twelve courses of different heights and degrees of difficulty and with a total of approx. 120 stations, it has plenty to offer for young and old.

The high-ropes course ‘Skytrek’ in Vipiteno also offers an ideal destination for families with children and adventure seekers. In the heart of the beautiful city of Vipiteno, you may climb parcourse amidst treetops, race down long ziplines, conquer a high climbing tree and enjoy the resting areas with hammocks.

NATURAL MONUMENT
A truly special gorge awaits you in Racines (Wipptal): The Gilfenklamm – a gorge in pure white marble. Explore it in about an hour’s hike over wooden walkways and bridges and feel the waterfalls on your skin.

The elemental force of the water, which has cut through the rock for thousands of years, is tangible with all senses. The gorge is protected as a natural monument and counts among the most beautiful natural spectacles in the Alpine region.

STRIKING LANDSCAPE
In the summer, explore Mount Plose near Bressanone on two wheels and enjoy the striking landscape along these mountain trails with great views.

Mountain bike tours are an immensely popular activity. For leisurely bikers there are three pleasure bike tours that take you to the most beautiful panoramic lodges: Plosehütte, Pfannspitzhütte as well as Rossalm.

THREE-WHEELED SPEEDERS
Great fun, not only for kids: Rent some Mountain Carts and enjoy a joyride on Mount Plose! At the wheel of one of the three-wheeled speedsters you will experience our local mountain from a very special side – fast-paced action that is truly unique during a summer holiday in the mountains.

The 10-km route from the mountain station to the valley station offers a particularly exciting experience. The funny thing about the Mountain Carts is that they don’t have pedals.

Nevertheless, the speed can be controlled individually and of course you can also brake. If you want to! But don’t worry: The small, very stable Fun-Carts with two wide tires and one narrow tire are ideally suited for trips in the Dolomites and are considered very safe.

PARAGLIDING
Would not that be overwhelming? You on the paraglider high above the Eisack valley, like an eagle on the slopes of the Plose gently floating, free and happy?

This can be set up: There are several starting points on the Plose, from where you can take off in tandem with an experienced pilot all year round. This experience will be guaranteed kept forever in your memories.

Prerequisites or special abilities are not necessary, but good shoes. Maybe do you celebrate a birthday during your holiday in the Eisack valley? Then you have the right present!

EXCELLENT YOUNG WINES
The many vineyards around Bressanone and in the lower Isarco Valley show how important wine is for this area. The northernmost growing area in Italy is known for excellent fresh wines. Perhaps you are familiar with Müller-Thurgau, Sylvaner, Kerner and Riesling from the Isarco Valley?

In the Monastery of Novacella you have the opportunity to visit the vineyards as well as the winery and then take part in a wine tasting.
