THE GRANDER® WATER
The water from the Residence’s own spring is revitalised according to the Grander method. There is more to water than the chemical formula H2O, Johann Grander says. It is its internal structure that accounts for its special characteristics.

This structure determines its microbiological properties: how well it keeps, how susceptible it is to limescale and rust deposits and how beneficial it is for humans, animals and plants.

Grander is convinced that water absorbs all positive, negative, natural and man-made influences. Originally pure and full of energy, water loses its vigour on its way to the consumer.

This is proved by the changes in its inner structure. Grander’s water revitalisation technique returns the water molecules to their original, highly ordered state, thus improving water quality. The water is charged with information and becomes vigorous and stable.

Nothing at all is added to it or taken from it. Lagació Hotel Mountain Residence furnishes outstanding proof that ecological living and elegant design can form a perfect match, which is what the discriminating guest of our day and age does no longer want to do without.

VALUES THAT WILL WIN YOU OVER
We are committed to respecting what is important to us. And it’s precisely this respect that you’ll always feel and experience at the Lagació Hotel Mountain Residence.

On holiday at the Lagació Hotel Mountain Residence, you will also notice we have built this resort based on a conviction about which we are passionate. Our belief in values is what is really dear to us.

At the top of the list is conserving and saving our natural habitat. It has been so generous with its gifts and it is our inspiration and source of strength. As a true Alta Badia valley, we are mindful of the traditions and the importance of protecting our native habitat; we are proud of our roots and Ladin cultural legacy.

The Dolomites, as our constant companion, take us into a mystical world of legends and never fail to surprise us with prehistoric discoveries and the impressive history of our native mountain, Mount Lagazuoi.

And last but not least, the Lagació Hotel Mountain Residence would not be the same without the people who work here. They make our hotel a vibrant and lively place, enhancing it character and they do their very best to pass on our philosophy to you.

RELAXED AT 1,537 M ABOVE EVERYDAY LIFE
Surrounded by majestic peaks of the Dolomites is the picture-postcard village locality of San Cassiano in South Tyrol’s Val Badia valley, a unique setting for relaxing and holiday activities.

You can admire the magnificent mountain peaks of the Conturines, Mount Lavarella and Mount Lagazuoi majestically looking down on the idyllic Val Badia valley village of San Cassiano and your holiday experience will be one you will never forget.

It makes no difference whether you plan to pay San Cassiano a visit in winter or summer, because each season here has its own charm. In the warmer months of the year, the area is favoured by mountain climbers and hikers.

Last but not least, the Dolomites are renowned worldwide for their extraordinary tours. When the landscape is then under a mantle of snow, you will see the eyes of winter sports enthusiasts light up.

Located in the middle of the world’s largest skiing area – the Dolomiti Superski, San Cassiano is the ideal starting point for discovering around 1,200 km of ski slopes.

But also cross-country skiing and snowshoeing enthusiasts will find San Cassiano perfect, thanks to the scenic, natural landscape offering an incredible range of possibilities to be experienced first-hand.

Sports and outdoor activities in the healthy mountain air make anyone hungry. So now, the right time has arrived for discovering the culinary side of San Cassiano and Alta Badia. Numerous cafés, inns and even two gourmet restaurants, awarded two Michelin stars, invite you to pamper your connoisseur’s palate.

Also from a cultural point of view, this picturesque village in Alta Badia has a lot to offer. It’s worth planning a visit to the Ladin Ursus ladinicus museum, where you will find important evidence testifying to the history, culture and traditions of the Alta Badia valley.

AN IMPOSING EPONYM
Our establishment can thank its fine-sounding name to twin-peak Mount Lagazuoi in the Fanes group of the Dolomites mountain range. With an altitude of 2,778 meters, Mount Lagazuoi counts as one of the most impressive massifs of the Dolomites.

However, the mountain was not always just a favoured destination for mountain climbers and winter sports enthusiasts. During the First World War, it was theatre to bloody battles.

Altogether five mines were exploded for conquering enemy positions which completely changed the physiognomy of the mountain. Today the reconstructed positions, as well as the tunnels can be visited on easy and moderately difficult walking trails.

But, above all, what makes a tour on Mount Lagazuoi so fascinating, are the breath-taking panoramas: to the north, you can see the Fanes range, to the east, the Mount Tofana peak, the Sorapiss Range and Mount Antela, while to the south the Cinque Torri, Civetta, Mount Pelmo and the Marmolata, and to the west, Mount Sella and the Puez range.

STEEPED IN LEGEND AND A WEALTH OF TRADITIONS
With a wealth of customs and traditions, San Cassiano is especially recommended for culture and history buffs. Despite many eventful centuries, Alta Badia has been able to conserve a large part of its unique characteristics.

These include the language, which is probably the most marked legacy of this culture. Still today, the Ladin language, deriving from vulgar Latin, is spoken by around 400,000 people in the Dolomites area.

Equally unique, is the preservation of religious rites, popular customs, typical dishes and mystical fables. The Ladin Museum in San Martino in Badia provides good insight into the Ladin living environment and traditions.

Ata Badia, located in the middle of the Dolomites, is associated with numerous legends and fairy-tales. Just 200 years ago, people believed the Dolomites were populated by mysterious beings, natural spirits, heroes and witches.

Numerous legends about them have been passed down orally from one generation to the next over the years. They coloured everyday life of Ladins. Good-natured beings protected people, while malicious figures brought disaster and storms.

Answers to uncertainties and questions were also quite often sought from these spirits. Still today, many places exhibit the signs originating from this surviving magical world.

TRACES OF THE DISTANT PAST
The Dolomites conceal prehistoric relics, so numerous and impressive, it would almost be impossible to find them in any other place. Over 250 million years old, the rough limestone formations of the Dolomites reveal authentic wonders formed out of stone.

It is hardly surprising innumerable fossils can be found in the rocks, testifying to times long gone by. Particularly worthy of note in this context was the discovery of the Cave Bear, which has been dedicated to the Ladin Ursus Ladinicus Museum.

During the 1980s, in a cave below Mount Conturines, natural historians came across fossil bones, which were revealed to be the remains of the then unknown and extinct bear species.

SUMMER VACATION
When the smell of freshly cut hay tickles your nose, the cleanest mountain air fills your lungs and pale mountain peaks delight the eye, then you know you’re on your summer vacation in the Dolomites. And it’s officially time to get out walking, biking, climbing or playing golf.

HIKING
Imposing mountain peaks, green meadows, scented woods and, finally, all the time you want to experience this spectacle of nature up close. Your holiday in the Dolomites will be exactly how you imagined it.

More recently however, since gaining worldwide fame thanks to the numerous Luis Trenker films, they bring an ever-increasing number of mountain sports fans here. Since then a few things have changed.

Today, there are more than 400 km of hiking, walking and mountain trails with excellent signposting, offering families and hikers but also ambitious summiteers numerous tours.

Together with experienced mountain guides, you can relax and enjoy discovering some of the finest places in the Dolomites. A totally personal nature experience is guaranteed in any case.

CYCLING
Unforgettable nature experiences. The area around the Lagació Hotel Mountain Residence could not be more exhilarating for bikers.

It is the absolute challenge for bikers: high alpine mountain roads and passes, demanding forest trails and the most breath-taking routes of the Giro d’Italia race and the Maratona dles Dolomites, a biking marathon which takes place each summer in the Dolomites.

You can start out directly from the Lagació Hotel Mountain Residence on this adventure. In addition, we can offer you a safe storage depot for your gear and full amenities for a successful biking holiday.

At the Bike Shop & Rental, located directly at the hotel, additionally, you will find suitable biking equipment, should you decide not to bring your own on holiday with you.

Depending on what you prefer, whether it is biking on your own or as part of a group of riders, you can take part in our comprehensive program of guided tours. In addition, you can hire a cycle or E-bike directly at the Alta Badia Shop & Rental and just set off where you like.

GOLF
The breath-taking view of the surrounding Dolomites can very easily be distracting. Or, on the other hand, a source of motivation. At the foot of majestic Mount Sassongher and the Sella range lies one of the highest elevation alpine golf greens – the Alta Badia Golf Club in Corvara.

At 1,700 meters, you can improve your handicap with a view that couldn’t be more impressive. The 9-hole green is open from June to October with a club house, a putting green and a driving range. On request, private lessons can be booked with a professional trainer.

WINTER PLEASURES
The snowy splendour of a postcard winter holiday in the Dolomites. Alta Badia is a dream holiday destination, which, also in winter will satisfy all aspirations.

Snow-covered mountain peaks, hillsides knee-deep in snow, sheer, unending slopes and sun-kissed spots will allure you into taking your winter holiday in the Dolomites and actively experience this winter paradise.

EXCITEMENT ON 2 SKIS
When the first snowflakes fall in San Cassiano and the landscape will very soon be glittering white, the hearts of skiing enthusiasts start to beat faster.

Fast descents, slopes with guaranteed snow and entrance to the world’s largest, 1,200 km ski park comprising the Dolomiti Superski area. Only 300 meters away from the Lagació Hotel Mountain Residence, this skier’s dream is waiting for you.

The Piz Sorega ski lift will take you directly up to the Alta Badia ski carousel, where you can discover the Dolomites ski slopes with a single ski pass only. You can purchase the pass on-line in advance and we will pick it up for you (an ID card is also required for children).

We are pleased to also help you book skiing lessons. Guests who prefer not to travel with their own ski gear will find all equipment they need for a carefree skiing adventure at the Alta Badia Ski Shop & Rental, directly in the hotel.

WINTER ADVENTURES
Alta Badia is not just about skiing. Guests who prefer cross-country skiing or who are toboggan fans will also be delighted to discover an exhilarating winter holiday.

Alta Badia and the Dolomites are not only known as a ski sports’ mecca but also for their extensive cross-country ski area, which is one of the vastest in the whole of Europe. Dolomiti Nordic Skiing. Here, the world of classic races meets that of tobogganing in a unique way.

Beginners as well as sport professionals will find a total of 1,300 km of trails around the Dolomites, spread across eleven winter sport areas. The first entrance is just 3 km away from San Cassiano, at the Alta Badia Armentarola cross-country centre, with its own cross-country skiing school.

You will experience nature intensely but also in totally classic style. With a sleigh over your shoulders or towed behind you, you will first trudge uphill through woods deep in snow. Your efforts will be rewarded as always by fabulous winter Dolomites panoramas.

Last but not least, we would recommend the descent from Störes Plateau or from the Santa Croce. Guests who prefer a faster pace, should measure themselves on the Alta Badia natural toboggan track. 3.5 kilometres long, it will take you from Piz Sorega down to San Cassiano.

ON SILENT SHOES
Winter can also be experienced on foot. This is particularly alluring in the fairy-tale, winter wonderland of the Alta Badia valley. Silence will surround you and the only sound you’ll hear is snow scrunching underfoot. On winter hikes and snowshoeing, you’ll be closer to nature than ever before.

The rhythmic walking pace has a calming and almost meditative effect on the spirit. Your gaze will be held by the odd-shaped rock towers of the Dolomites and the cleanest mountain air will stimulate your mood.

While you are stepping through virgin forests and across wide slopes, perhaps you will ask yourself whether, indeed, fairies and witches could have actually inhabited this place. It’s quite possible. And you may even feel a bit like a mountain hero, while passionately engaged in winter activity adventures.
