Wine lovers, architecture fans and free-spirited souls love the easy-going atmosphere that prevails here – even in our 21m long pool. We, the five members of the family, have been running the Muchele with the greatest of love and joy for life ever since 1952.

And, since we always get a bit more vitamin D than they do on the other side of the valley, sun-worshippers flock to our terrace. The Muchele is just 5 km from the beautiful spa town of Meran. Fabulous! Right in front of the Lana golf club.

ROOMS & SUITES
Vibrant, friendly, easy-going, comfortable. Our rates are quoted in euros per person per day inclusive of half-board accommodation and our inclusive services.

MUCH LIVING PENTHOUSE
Designer Patricia Urquiola at her best. For those who love the 70s and like to live sexy. Almost at the top -3. floor. Colored, brighter, most beautiful view, much more Muchele – doesn’t work! Panoramic view of mountains and vines. Covered whirlpool on the roof terrace, finnish private sauna. Of course air-conditioned.

MOROSO PENTHOUSE
Very popular and rarely free. Bright, generous and with a 320° view. The largest terrace in the house. Unlimited freedom on the 4th floor with guaranteed privacy and whirlpool.

Ideal for those who like to be at the top, to sunbathe naked… or to watch the stars in the bubbling water. The Moroso Penthouse 701, our new centerpiece with 44 m².

LOGGIA
The view is gorgeous. Modern, straight, plain colors and a simple division. These room is located in the Muchele Loggia.

XXL bed with cold foam mattresses, spacious bathroom, separate WC with bidet, not separated living room with comfortable sofa bed, balcony and view of the pool, garden and a beautiful mountain panorama, ca. 36 m².

MUCHELE DINING ROOM
We affectionately refer to it as, simply, our eating room. The atmosphere is somewhat akin to a romantic dinner invite; we vanquished the classic, formal dining room concept.

We fully understand that you would like to sit on all the designer chairs at the same time! Unfortunately it’s just not possible. We do have, however, the right thing to suit all occasions. In summer the dining room blends into with the terrace and the inside is out.

THERESIA STUBE
It originally came from the Vinschgau. Mum always says, “The room is mine, then,” while Hansjörg wants it as his permanent venue for his wine-tasting sessions with his guests.

Theresia was our dear grandmother, and for many years she worked as chef here, ensuring the heart (and stomach) felt happiness of guests. We have dedicated our “new” room to her. 12 seats at the most and there weren’t any more than that in 1850 either.

CULINARY ROCKERS

Our kitchen rock stars are young, wild, traditional and liberal-minded. That brings joy to us all, and given that they’re all so nice and accommodating, every guest can take a peek behind the curtains and pick up his or her main course from behind the scenes once a week.

God, we are happy that we don’t offer ¾ board like everybody else. It leaves us plenty of wiggle-room and mouth-watering anticipation for our magnificent 5 to 6 course dinners. We prefer to serve them in the bright dining room or under the starry skies.

VEGAN & GLUTEN FREE
We hosts eat everything that our rock stars of the stoves serve up, and are lucky enough to not have any allergies. Nevertheless, we are very understanding of guests who do have allergies and intolerances.

Naturally, we cook to order and if you let us know early enough, will be delighted to whip you up a vegan or gluten-free meal. And by the way… Dr. Schär – Europe‘s Nr 1 specialist gluten-free foodstuff company, was born and bred in Burgstall. To our immense pride.

CHEF’STABLE
From the good old days of 1952: There in the hub of the home, in Granny Theresa’s kitchen, the table stands proudly back in place. Our chef’s table is simply called “Kuchltisch” in South Tyrolean dialect.

Come and get a close-up behind the scenes with our kitchen rock stars, with Evelin Frank at the helm. To savour a taste, look around, ask nosy questions, eat the best of food and be amazed.

BREAKFAST
From hand-filtered coffee we move on to bread from the small bakery in Burgstall, butter from the dairy, homemade jams and, needless to say, speck from the village butcher. Our Vito is a wizard of sweet treats in person. He boils up his jams with lots of love, sweet fruit from South Tyrol and just a little extra sugar.

Your hips will be happy – and you’ll still have some room left for compotes. Butter – the most wonderful natural product from the motherlands of South Tyrol comes straight from the Algund dairy.

For your egg requests, just ask our princes and princesses -in-waiting. With a little patience, we will serve you your meal, courtesy of happy hens – no need to stand around and wait.

Lord Mango makes an appearance here once in a while, but not that often. Oh yes, thanks to our Mediterranean climate the kiwis actually grow here.

We are not so virtuous after all then – our coffee is smuggled in. Or rather, it used to be, hence the name of the smallest coffee roastery in South Tyrol “Kuntrawant” (Vinsch dialect for “smuggling” – Eng. “contraband”).

Organic coffee beans are hand-processed in 5kg quantities in a traditional drum roaster. “Hand-filtered” tastes best, and that’s why we brew it in a Chemex coffee maker (tried and tested, for 72 years).

WINES
The cool nights bring a refined acidity, and the variety of terrain (from volcanic porphyry in Meran, Bozen, Kaltern, to weathered primeval quartz and mica in the Eisack Valley, and limestone and Dolomite rock in the lowlands) ensures a wide range. For every grape varietal, we have the perfect terrain.

In our boss’s office – that’ll be our clay vinotheque, then – over 600 labels sleep soundly, dreaming of the moment they are to be enjoyed. With 5 qualified sommeliers to hand we can find the perfect wine for every dish and, if you like, tell you a tale to go along with it.

The weekly highlight for every wine lover is our “not-your-average wine tasting,” when a maximum of 15 guests join us in the boss’s “office,” otherwise known as the clay vinotheque.

SWIMMING AREA
Sometimes doing things slowly is hard but it’s sooooo good for you! Here you can sit back and absorb the vitamin D to your heart’s content while you gather your thoughts. What are holidays for if not the search to refind oneself in a special place?

Our 21 m indoor-outdoor pool is open from 7 am in the morning. Active guests appreciate the length, leisure swimmers the constant 31°C water temperature, sensitive skins the gentle ozone cleaning. Grander water even flows through our swimming pool. And oh, how you feel i

SAUNA

Hot. And in winter, it’s even hotter than in summer – at least the Finnish sauna (90°C). If you can’t read ancient Süterlin script, just close your eyes in the organic sauna (50°-60°C). Oh yes, and the steam bath has a panoramic window and a pleasant 45°C.

For a little rest afterwards, the beds will rock you gently off to dreamland in the pinewood relaxation room. Open to all from 2pm every day, and if it’s raining, right after breakfast!

PRIVATE SPA
Romantic time for two. Ideal for lovers, long-wedded couples, friends and twosomes who are looking for something a little different. Partner hot tub, Finnish sauna, relaxation bed for some cuddling-up time afterwards, shower and WC. A bottle of prosecco twinkles in the candlelight alongside a selection of crunchy fruit.

ABHYANGA – DEEP RELAXATION MASSAGE
Body cleaning and touching of the soul. Soft massage with warm sesam oil and aromas. Detoxication and the result is a tight skin. Abhyanga ist the oldest massage technique of the world.

MICRO NEEDLING
Intensive facial treatment with immediate effect thanks to vibrations and use of the micro needling roller. Activates the skin’s self-renewal mechanisms, the new production of collagen and elastin fibers.

Active ingredients penetrate deeper into the skin via microchannels. Visibly improves the structure of the skin, rejuvenates the skin, reduces wrinkles and scars. The skin becomes significantly denser, firmer and firmer.

LOCATION
We live in an unassuming, sun-drenched little village called Burgstall. Here in the holiday region around Meran, on the sunny side of the Adige Valley, you could quite easily get sunburnt even in springtime.

There are masses of place for active people to explore: The Graf-Volkmar-Weg is the perfect place to head out on a walk in the fresh air. If you like it steep, take the hiking trail to the Wieslerhof, where your efforts will be well-rewarded with a hearty South Tyrolean snack.

All cyclists and golf lovers will be in their element too: This area is home to numerous golf courses and a variety of cycling routes. The Burgstall town centre is an excellent destination for a spot of shopping and a leisurely stroll.

If you are planning a real shopping tour, head to the neighbouring towns of Lana or Meran. A trip to the provincial capital of Bozen is, of course, absolutely a must!

MERAN
The way of life in Meran and the surrounding villages is every bit as varied as the Alpine-Mediterranean climate. Lana is on the other side of the Adige Valley, opposite Burgstall so to speak. Our neighbour town is like our big sister, and blends all the joys of a rural location with a vibrant, mini-urban heart.

Lana is a wonderful destination for those in the know and active guests: it is also the set-off point for popular cycling routes and hiking areas, such as on the car-free Vigiljoch mountain or in the adjacent Ulten Valley. A leap over to the other side is well worth the effort!

The Empress Sissi was a great fan of Meran. The elegant, stylish flair of days gone by can still be felt to this day as you take a stroll along the promenade. The narrow alleyways of the arcades welcome you in as you enjoy a leisurely stroll and a browse through the small boutiques and shops.

And as you enjoy your ice cream on the spa promenade, you can enjoy a fabulous view of the Texel Group, the historic Kurhaus and the Meran Spa. A cool breeze blows Along the Passer River, and as you head towards the winter promenade you also come closer to the Tappeinerweg path.

LEISURE
For all those that like scouting about, Our beloved Burgstall is a sun-blessed spot, and is the perfect set-off point for a long hike, bike ride, a round of golf or a jog.

HIKING
The Muchele is surrounded by truly beautiful hiking and walking trails. If you want a short trip, we recommend the Graf Volkmar Weg hiking trail or a 45-minute hike to the Wieslerhof.

Other excellent recommendations include hikes on the popular Tschögglberg, high up to Vöran by cable car, where you can enjoy leisurely walks that aren’t too long.

The hiking area of Meran 2000, the car-free Vigiljoch and the Ulten Valley are also in the immediate vicinity and boast a variety of winning tours. Phew! There are around 17,000 km of marked trails waiting to be walked…

CYCLING
The flat Etsch Valley boasts a wide network of cycle path and tours, while dedicated cyclists can take off to the mountain passes and mountain bike routes. The steed for the job can also, naturally, be rented at the Muchele.

GOLF
In Lana, the Passeier Valley and in Eppan, all with a view over the magical Dolomites: South Tyrol boasts a fabulous backdrop for memorable golf outings.

JOGGING
For a quick jog, we recommend a leisurely run through the green apple orchards of Burgstall. Another unmissable, truly unique experience is a jog along the Tappeinerweg path in Merano – it’s not just great for a walk.

Mediterranean plants and fabulous flower façades take even our “long-established South Tyrolean” breath away. High along the Tappeinerweg to the “Pulverturm” Powder Tower the view opens out bit by beautiful bit, and the Wow! moment comes when you’re up on high. But that’s enough for now; you have to see it for yourself!

CABLE CAR
All the way up to Vöran in a flash. Outdoor fans and nature lovers are probably already familiar with the leisure and hiking area around the Tschögglberg, and for everybody else it’ll be another place to explore during your upcoming trip to the Muchele!

MUST HAVES
The seeker finds, as the proverb goes. You don’t have to seek out the beautiful, magical places yourself though; we are only too happy to tell you about our own Muchele favourites!

KRANZELHOF LABYRINTH GARDEN
A wonderfully enchanting day-trip destination with 7 gardens and a historic wine cellar, all calling you to stroll, visit and relax. In this oasis of greenery, wine and art are showcased in a truly unique setting.

The winery offers 20 different wines which can be drunk and purchased in the garden, which is open from March to November. Franz Graf Pfeil has created a unique work of art here. Hats off!

THE TRAUTTMANSDORFF CASTLE
Yes, it’s a South Tyrolean classic and the long-time lovers of our lands are most probably familiar with this particular garden already.

However, for very good reason, thousands of visitors flock to the gardens every year. Standing high above Meran, this veritable paradise of flowers and nature never fails to surprise, even after the 10th visit.

KNOTTNKINO
We guarantee that not even the most cutting-edge 3D cinemas can offer this level of definition! At the Knottnkino high above Burgstall, on a mountain throne high above the valley basin in Vöran, you can enjoy the wonderful view of the Adige Valley from the porphyry rock lookout point. No need for those bothersome cinema glasses!

THE ANCIENT TOWNS
The quaint, peaceful towns of South Tyrol enchant visitors with their unique charm and style. On a trip to the old towns of South Tyrol, you will always chance upon an undiscovered relic or corner. A new perspective often changes the whole artwork.

FLOWER FESTIVAL
It is as much a part of the Etsch Valley spring as the ringing of the bells at Easter: It’s the Flower Festival! One of the highlights of the festival is the farmers’ “mile of tastes.”

Around 40 farmer stalls and 4 catering stalls serve their own genuine products, all bearing the “Red Rooster” seal of quality and presented by the producers in person.

MERAN WINE FESTIVAL
The Merano WineFestival, where connoisseurs of fine tipple flock in droves and where wines of both local origin and international renown are served up. In recent years the WineFestival has reached fame in South Tyrol and beyond. Bottoms up, then!

MERAN CHRISTMAS
When the golden season draws to a close, that’s when the magic of Christmas is at the doors. It may sound a little on the cheesy side, but when you stroll along the Meran promenade, smell the sweet scents of Christmas and savour the tempting treats (yes, they have mulled wine), it truly is magical.

Even for us old South Tyrolean hands, it’s always magical! And a hot mulled wine or two always helps to survive the run-up to Christmas.
