Timeless peace and breathtaking scenery are the perfect scenarios for an unforgettable vacation. Not far from the city of Canelli, our Charming Holiday Residence “I Tre Poggi” is located within horseshoe shaped ancient eighteenth-century farmstead.

Situated in the bosom of one of the tallest vineyards, the estate extends over approximately 10 hectares of hills, in part cultivated with vineyards, orchards and hazelnuts, and in part left as a forest: ideal destination for short day trips and walks during the summer.

From here you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the surrounding panorama: the view extends from Canelli and the neighbouring villages of San Marzano, Bubbio and Calosso, and embraces the distant hills of Langhe and Monferrato.

On clearer days, it is possible to admire the full Piedmontese Alpine Arch, with Monte Viso and Mont Blanc soaring over the other peaks. Used as a farm until the early 2000s, it required extensive renovations, which began in 2008.

A year and a half later, in 2009, we opened the structure with the first rooms and the restaurant, while in 2010 we completed the renovation of the ancient barrique cellar, which is now the wellness centre. All renovations were made using Bio-Architecture techniques to respect both the natural environment and local traditions.

A conservative renovation that has not changed the original shapes of the structure and that has maintained the bond with the architectural tradition of the Piedmontese countryside. Our daily actions have an impact on the environment.

Therefore, we use energy produced autonomously by our wood boiler as well as solar and photovoltaic panels. Only eco-compatible, biodegradable and non-polluting materials were used during works to respect the local habitat and ecosystem.

ROOMS & SUITES
A genuine welcome, amidst the green Langhe hills and ruby red colour of wine. We offer various formulas for stays at our charming residence: Comfort, Romantic, Deluxe and Superior Rooms, as well as a mini apartment and a suite with a kitchen.

Designed for those wanting a refined and comfortable stay, in our rooms the modernity of the chromotherapy showers blend in with an ancient atmosphere: vaulted ceilings, parquet, terracotto tiles and fireplaces.

Each room was designed according to a theme that defines the style of the interior decor and design, and all are chromatically studied to consent a good rest and complete relaxation.

Thanks to our genuine furnishings, the stone and wood of the rooms, you will find it easy to relax and find your inner balance. All of our rooms have a relaxation area where it is possible to take refuge and enjoy the beauty of the place and surrounding atmosphere.

Built based on principles of ecological design, each with its own colours and details, offering different views and panoramas. Some rooms overlook the pool, offering a view of the rows of vines and relaxation areas.

Others have a terrace overlooking the valley below, extending over Canelli, as well as the hills of Langhe and Monferrato.

BIO-ARCHITECTURE
The recent renovation, carried out based on principles of Bio-Architecture and using eco-friendly materials has for the most part preserved the original structure.

We started by restoring the existing structure and maximising energy savings using a wood boiler and producing energy through photovoltaic and solar panels.

DINING
Experience the taste of traditional Piedmont dishes, within the warm atmosphere of I Tre Poggi, in an elegant, quiet and relaxing setting. Delicious and balanced meals carefully prepared to make an impression on the mind and palate.

The restaurant consists of a main hall furnished with warm and cosy materials and a private dining room for a dinner with friends or for more intimate occasions.

The Wine Corner, between the walls of bottles of fine wine, is the perfect place for tastings and aperitifs while waiting to be seated or to end your day in a relaxing way.

Merlini 22 is also open to customers not staying at the residence and is available for exclusive events such as weddings, baptisms, communions, birthdays and private parties.

Piedmontese tradition is one of the richest in Italy since it was able to combine the flavours of peasant culture with the sophistication of the French cuisine of the Kingdom of Savoy.

Our Chef Mauro proposes traditional recipes prepared with ingredients strictly related to the territory and seasons, choosing among farm-to-table products.

The cuts used are Piedmontese Fassona, a top-quality breed recognised as one of the best on a nutritional level. Beef from Asti is sought after for the preparation of traditional dishes.

Local dairies are the pride of regional production. Our cutting board is rich with artisan products that perfectly accompany another territorial gem: grape mostarda or honey.

PIEDMONTESE GASTRONOMY
One of the richest in Italy since it was able to combine the flavours of peasant culture with the sophistication of French cuisine from the Kingdom of Savoy.

Many dishes that today are considered as having great character and sophistication in the past were served both on working class tables and those of the important royal families of the region.

Barolo, one of the best Italian wines, and the white truffle of Alba represent only the spearhead of Piedmontese Cuisine, made up of tradition and conviviality.

Castelmagno is a cheese which has been made for many centuries: the earliest known mention of it dates to 1277, but in all likelihood its origins are much earlier.

Castelmagno is a semi-hard, half-fat cheese produced from whole cows milk, obtained from cattle of the Piedmontese breed fed on fresh forage or hay from mixed meadows or pasture.

Raschera DOP is a semi-fat, raw, pressed cheese, ivory white in colour with a compact texture. It has a refined, delicate taste, characteristically aromatic and moderately sharp and savoury if aged.

A particular type of cheese named after the lake and pasture at the foot of Mount Mongioie, has been produced in these mountains around Mondovì since time immemorial.

Toma Piemontese DOP can be made from whole or partially skimmed milk, It has a pale yellow to russet brown rind, depending on how long it has been allowed to ripen, and a taste that ranges from sweet to intensely fragrant in the half-fat version.

It is Piemonte’s best-known cheese, and probably one of its oldest. It is certainly the cheese that best represents the character of this region.

Robiola di Roccaverano DOP is a fresh soft paste goat cheese, its origins are very ancient, since the Celts used to breed goats in these lands and produced a kind of cheese which is probably similar to he one produced today.

The Romans kept producing it and called it Rubeola, “reddish”, from the color of the crust of the aged cheese. Robiola is a very tasty cheese and it carries seasonal scents coming from the pastures’ grass. Aged Robiola di Roccaverano DOP features a very strong, and almost piquant taste.

Blu di Loazzolo has an intense and slightly spicy flavour, characteristic of blue cheeses. It is also a long maturing cheese (it can exceed 120 days).

This classical cheese from Piedmont is obtained by processing raw cow’s milk from the village of Loazzolo. It is a blue cheese to be eaten on your table that recalls the great tradition of blues Piedmont.

THE SWIMMING POOL
At the back of the residence the hills gently slope towards the infinity pool. Located on a natural terrace, from which it is possible to enjoy a breathtaking panorama overlooking the hills and surrounding vineyards.

The water temperature is mild even on overcast days and the different depth zones make it perfect both for small children and those wanting to have a swim.

The adjacent solarium area offers comfortable sunbeds, chairs and loungers, while the inner courtyard under umbrellas offers the possibility to have a lunch or aperitif while enjoying the truly enchanting atmosphere.

DISCOVER ASTI
Is a city sized for man. Noted for its wines and cuisine, although perhaps less so, mistakenly, for its artistic beauty, should be explored by foot, strolling through the city centre that has still preserved its medieval aspect.

The medieval age left splendid traces on the principal monuments, in which the Baroque style of the noble buildings and 19th century elegance of the squares blend together without creating disaccord, even finding harmony with the Liberty style store fronts.

Asti is linked to its magnificent past, relived every year through the Palio of Asti, is vivacious and commercial with its weekly markets, Asti is rich with culture and wine and food events, all rendering any stay just that much more pleasurable.

From Historic reconstructions to Folkloristic manifestations… The Territory of Asti offers diverse itineraries to follow… A visit to the Vezzolano Abbey, the most celebrated Romanesque monument in Piedmont, is not to be missed.

Another antique road to be followed is that of the Valle Versa, with its castles, among which include Passerano and Cocconato, the “balcony” of Monferrato.

CANELLI
The southern part of the Asti territory is that in which cultivation of grapevines is of upmost importance, characterizing the visual aspect of the land: there are many Museums dedicated to wine and its production today and in the past (Costigliole, Mombercelli and Nizza Monferrato are just a few examples).

The historic Cellars of Canelli, the capital of the Moscato and Asti Sparkling Wine are like breathtaking underground cathedrals. First and foremost are the never-ending vineyards that in autumn display thousands of different nuances, so much so that the territory was nominated to become part of the Unesco Patrimony.

THE CASTLES
And then there is Mombaruzzo, celebrated for its amaretto, rich with noble buildings and artistically important structures, not to mention the far reaching vineyards.

Finally, the location in which the vineyards finish and the hills begin to rise, where the landscape turns rugged and even more picturesque: the Langa astigiana, with its medieval towers against the Saracen invaders in Cassinasco, San Giorgio Scarampi, Olmo Gentile, the “double” church of Cessole and the picturesque ruins of the castles and Roccaverano, with its Bramantinian Parrish church and breathtaking view.

THE NATURE
Do not miss out on excursions to the parks and natural reserves of the area, in the Sarmassa Valley, in the Rocchetta Tanaro forests and at the shores of the Bormida in Sessame to observe the herons that have returned to population the shores of our rivers.
