Il Verreno is a haven of the best of Tuscany; tranquillity, sumptuous scenery, delicious food, and easy access to activities both cultural and sporting. Our suites are large, decorated in a contemporary twist of their Tuscan heritage with an emphasis on comfort and relaxation. Situated in the stunning area of the south Chianti, it is a retreat with the relaxed atmosphere of a country house and hotel style service.

Cucina Donnaluisa is our restaurant overseen by Marialuisa Lovari, a local aretino chef who is part of the National Italian team and has taken part in many international competitions including most recently the predigious Bocuse d’Or Italia 2020.

Il Verreno is located above the town of Ambra, in the southern Chianti area, among olive trees, vineyards and oaks. The ancient village has been brought back to life with a careful restoration of both the Manor House and the annexed buildings.

Once the works on the structures were finished, we started to create the gardens. We are grateful to anyone who has had the foresight to plant so many trees that have given us a structure to begin with.

An ancient oak forest covers part of the park and offers shelter in the shade, in the heat of summer and allows delicious walks in the woods. Hundreds of new olive trees have been added to the ripe ones that we have inherited and produce high quality oil. We have our vegetable garden, aromatic garden and orchard, whose products are used in our kitchen. A large lavender plantation completes our agricultural production.

HOLIDAY APARTMENTS
The Verreno Resort offers its Holiday Houses for an unforgettable experience in complete freedom in an atmosphere of luxury and complete peace, in prestigious environments equipped with all comforts. The House includes 2 double bedrooms (each with its own bathroom), equipped kitchen and living, with daily cleaning.

Inside the Verreno, guests can take advantage of the services common areas of the Resort: outdoor swimming pool, Turkish bath, gym, common rooms and children’s playground. Cucina Donnaluisa is available for service at the restaurant and for delivery. Breakfast is included in the price.

ROOMS
Our 20 suites are to be found in the recently renovated buildings of an ancient borgo. They combine elegance with the updated essence of the Tuscan countryside with unstated luxury and all the comforts for an unforgettable stay. All the suites have air conditioning,, Sky TV, Nespresso caffè, separate living areas, rainwater shower rooms, safes, fridges and room service.

CUCINA DONNALUISA
Our restaurant, Cucina Donnaluisa, the heart of the resort, is located in the Casa Padronale: where once they made the wine there are four interconnecting rooms. These lead out on to a terrace surrounded by our herb garden perfect for al fresco meals.

The pavilion restaurant, Lola, is situated near the swimming pool, suitable for both informal dining and larger parties. La Vela Bianca is our grand garden hall, perfect for large groups. Surrounded by our lovely estate tress and garden it has glass doors that can fully open for summer events.

GARDEN & ESTATE
Once the heavy work on the buildings was complete we could start creating a garden. We are grateful to whoever had the foresight to plant so many trees that gave us a framework to start with. Although newly planted it is already starting to mature. An old oak forest covers part of the grounds and provides shady shelter in the heat of the summer as well as woodland walks.

HOUSE & AMENITIES
Our aim has been to create the relaxed atmosphere of a private country house without any of the hard work. It is now available with hotel style service as a private venue, suitable for weddings, parties, retreats and holidays. There is accommodation for up to forty people in twenty bedrooms, suites and apartments.

All round panoramic views and an ancient oak forest that borders the property offer the best of the southern Chianti countryside. And just a short walk down the hill, typical Italian life can be sampled in the small town of Ambra.

Siena, Florence and Arezzo are just some of the must-see places within easy reach. When we started renovating Il Verreno our inspiration came from sources associated with the area; Tuscan colours, Etruscan art and local rural architecture to name a few.

THE LOGGIA DI CARLO ROOMS 
No Italian casa is complete without a Loggia. The perfect place to have morning coffee, aperitifs or spend the afternoon with a book or a box of watercolours. When you have had enough of staring at the Tuscan hills a step away are the bar, library and sitting rooms

Hundreds of new olive trees were added a couple of years ago to the many mature ones we inherited. Very soon they too will be producing top quality oil.There is a vegetable orto as well as an orchard where we grow produce for the kitchen.

VELA BIANCA
Thanks to its splendid setting Vela Bianca, in the highest part of Il Verreno Resort is the ideal venue for events, private parties and concerts in Tuscany. The location of the village in the heart of the Val d’Ambra and its architectural structure suggest solutions of great impact and originality.

In addition, our high-level Cucina Donnaluisa restaurant, and a series of delightful outdoor activities contribute to the success of each initiative. The Verreno Resort is the ideal setting for high profile conferences and meetings in Tuscany.

Marialuisa and Keoma, chefs of our Cucina Donnaluisa restaurant offer their lessons in the perfect place to learn how to cook all the specialties of Tuscan cuisine. Our cooking school offers a wide selection of courses for lovers of good food.

Our chefs will guide you through a cooking lesson that combines practice and theory, whatever your level of knowledge. Their philosophy is simple: they want to share the love of good food with our guests. Give yourself the pleasure of collecting the freshest ingredients in our garden and preparing a perfect Tuscan menu to be enjoyed in a unique setting.
