THE COTE SAUVAGE
Experience a whole new world at Le Fort de l’Océan on the Pointe du Croisic peninsula in Loire-Atlantique. Where the Côte Sauvage meets the Côte d’Amour, the hotel invites you to discover a wide variety of landscapes, between rocks and beaches, without forgetting the Guérande salt marshes, yet another facet of the peninsula and its surroundings.

LE CROISIC
During your stay at Le Croisic, listed as one of the most beautiful towns in Loire-Atlantique, you’ll find plenty to keep you busy! There is plenty to see and to do… Alongside its beaches, restaurants and nautical activities (Le Croisic was the first seaside resort on the coast), this little town is full of character and boasts a rich heritage.

Stroll through the narrow streets of the old town, and along the quays lined with picturesque ship-owners’ houses, reminders of the town’s past affluence. It is easy to imagine the history of this 17th century port whose geography was shaped by the salt trade. The tourist office suggests a selection of routes along footpaths to discover Le Croisic, its heritage and the beauty of its natural environment.

LE CROISIC BLUE GREEN GOLF COURSE
Just cross the road for a round of golf! Le Croisic Blue Green golf course is just opposite Le Fort de l’Océan. Complementary access to the par 32, 2,160 m golf course is included with your stay, so you can enjoy a round amongst the exceptional settings of the Pointe du Croisic peninsula, with stunning views over the Atlantic.

The golf course comes with a practice zone (17 practice tees: 15 outdoor tees and two covered tees), a putting green, a pitching green and a training bunker.

Other courses nearby include: Guérande golf course, 25 minutes by car, with an 18-hole course and La Baule International Barrière golf course, half an hour’s drive away, which stretches over 200 hectares alongside the Brière regional park with three courses ranging from nine to eighteen holes.

LA BAULE
20 minutes’ drive from the hotel, La Baule and its bay are home to different landscapes where the vast beaches along the sea front beckon vacationers.

Founded at the end of the 19th century, this internationally renowned seaside resort largely owes its reputation to the distinctive architecture of its villas. Beneath the pine trees, the Moorish, Basque, English, Art Deco and Belle Epoque inspired villas rival one another for fantasy and beauty.

Visitors are drawn to the luxury boutiques, casino, international jumping event, nautical regattas and golf course – La Baule is one of the major attractions of Loire-Atlantique. The 9 km sandy beach which stretches from Pouliguen to Pornichet invites you to set out on all sorts of adventures: horse riding, sand yachting, children’s clubs, beach fisheries, and more!

SALT FROM SOUTHERN BRITANNY
The protected salt marsh sites have existed since prehistoric times, and the salt is gathered using techniques which go back over a thousand years.

In this way, without using any machines or chemicals, the paludiers gather the “white gold”, a delicacy for gourmet diners: fleur de sel. A number of organizations offer tours of this fascinating environment: it’s a great place to visit when staying in Le Croisic!

Continue your visit by stopping off in Guérande, a town of art and history which will take you back to the Middle Ages – the golden age of the town. The fortifications erected by the last Breton dukes make it a unique example of military architecture, and the only town in Brittany to be surrounded by fully-preserved city ramparts. The busy shopping streets all converge on Saint-Aubin square and collegiate church. A must-see!
