Located on a 4000-acre expanse of Nicaraguan jungle, nearly half of Morgan’s Rock’s vast property is a private protected reserve. Its concept and operation reflects this whimsical feeling of privacy and seclusion.

Shift into reverse and drive away from the modern day hassles to escape to our mile-long picturesque sandy beach, frequented year-round by nesting sea turtles.

15 bungalows and 3 villas constructed of natural materials are tucked away into the lush jungle. A king size bed and an exterior hanging daybed suspended by thick marine rope highlight the casual luxury you will experience in our Ecolodge.

The refreshing plunge pools and stunning ocean views set the relaxed pace for the duration of your stay. Walk across the suspension bridge and embrace the stunning views of the private beach sanctuary, highlighted by watercolor sunsets every late afternoon.

Our mission is to provide guests with ultimate relaxation, peace of mind, and an authentic local experience. Equally important to us is the preservation of Nicaragua’s vital ecosystem and wildlife, as well as cultural preservation and community involvement.

With endless activities, tours, plenty of safe space to explore, and astounding wildlife, organic farm and a world class cullinary experience, Morgan’s Rock offers the ultimate family vacation. Our restaurant features local food from our organic farm.

Thanks to a large working farm with cows, chickens, fruit and vegetable gardens, and even a sustainable shrimp farm, Morgan’s Rock sources roughly 60% of its food products from farming activities that take place right on the premises including an ocean to table concept.

Guests are welcome to visit our farm, where they can lend a hand collecting eggs or milking the cows, or simply kick back and enjoy a rustic breakfast cooked on the hearth by the lovely Denia.

OFF THE BEATEN PATH
Natural luxury on a private white sand tropical beach, stunning ocean-view bungalows, all within a 4,000-acre jungle define the Morgan’s Rock experience.

Morgan´s Rock is a 3 Ocean View Two Bedroom Villlas with Private Pool and 15-bungalow hideaway on a mile-long picturesque sandy beach, frequented year-round by nesting sea turtles.

Nearly half of the vast property is a private reserve. The rest is low-impact agricultural land (a farm called El Aguacate) and sustainable tropical forestland (owned and managed by Desarrollo Ecoforestal, S.A.)

Morgan´s Rock was opened in 2004 by the Poncon family as naturally luxurious lodge and a forested land and reserve that hosts a variety of exotic animals including spider, howler and capuchin monkeys, and deer as well as a plethora of native and migrant birds and reptiles.

MEMORIES THAT LAST A LIFEETIME
Morgan’s Rock is a one of a kind vacation destination. We are a luxury accommodation provider and our mission is to provide guests with ultimate relaxation, peace of mind, and an authentic local experience.

Equally important to us is the preservation of Nicaragua’s vital ecosystems and wildlife, as well as cultural preservation and community involvement.

Guests contribute to our social and environmental mission simply by staying with us, allowing our continued support of community education and environmental conservation.

The sustainably constructed bungalows are nestled in the jungle not far from the hacienda’s private beach. They are exquisite when light up. Guests can relax on the beach and participate in numerous activities, both On and Off-Site Experiences.

Lounge in a hammock under the shade of the palapa (thatched beach hut), rejuvenate with an early morning yoga session, hike to some of the best outlooks in the area, admire the fiery sunset over the Pacific with a glass of wine, or explore the vast property and it´s environs.

BEACH FRONT, SOUTH PACIFIC, NICARAGUA
The lodge is strategically located to the south of Nicaragua’s most important tourism destination Granada and just north of the Costa Rican border.

You can fly into Nicaragua’s capital Managua or Liberia located in Northern Costa Rica. It would be our pleasure to arrange safe and comfortable private transportation to Morgan’s Rock.

DISCONNECT TO RECONNECT
This 4,000-acre jungle hideaway boasts a mile-long picturesque sandy beach, and the family has proudly maintained half of the vast property as a Private Reserve. Morgan´s Rock Private Reserve is frequented year-round by two species of endangered turtles.

Of the seven species of marine turtles in the world today, five are endangered. In Nicaragua, sea turtles are threatened by both natural predators and humans. At Morgan’s Rock, we are proud to support sea turtle conservation efforts.

We, along with our guests, are grateful for the unique opportunity to witness sea turtles both nesting and hatching in their natural environment.

Guests to Morgan’s Rock, witness the baby hatchlings scurrying out to sea, their passage overseen by Morgan’s Rock staff and guests as we protect the little ones from predators during this crucial stage of their journey.

A unique opportunity, our guests frequently say this as one of the most memorable experiences of their stay here at the hacienda.

Other animals inhabiting the jungle reserve and estuary around Morgan’s Rock include howler monkeys, macaws, anteaters, sloths and white tipped dear, to name just a few. Most of the birds are typical of subtropical dry forest lands, These include scarlet macaws, trogons, kingfishers, herons and egrets.

15 bungalows and 3 Two Bedroom Villas
Almendro, Caoba, Cedro, Eucalipto, Guapinol, Laurel and Nogal exquisite sounding Spanish names that have been worked into the structure of the rooms.

All are tropical woods that were used to build the bungalows and were acquired from responsibly managed logging sources or reforestation projects in Nicaragua, ensuring artistic yet ecologically responsible built rooms.

All accommodations have been soundly designed to offer shelter from rain, sun or wind, yet touching as little of the surrounding nature as possible. The location of all bungalows was chosen based on the least amount of trees to be cut down, in some instances taking advantage of ridding dead trees.

Some may even have a tree growing straight through the roof and all enjoy an indoor garden hosting your own private outdoor shower.

CULTURAL TOURISM
A key part of Morgan’s Rock Hacienda & Ecolodge sustainability efforts is its involvement with the local community. Nearly all the employees are from the local area. We support the community by buying products from local vendors and farmers.

You may notice a beautiful ceramic pot near the pool or artwork inspired by the indigenous people of Nicaragua in your bungalow.

Our pottery collection, dispersed throughout the lodge, features pieces hand-crafted by artisans in San Juan de Oriente, a village steeped in the tradition of pottery making. The art form is a vital source of sustainable income for the artisans and their family and we are happy to support it.

NATURE AND HARMONY
Morgan’s Rock offers the perfect family getaway. At the lodge, and in the surrounding 4,000 acres of protected undeveloped forest land including a private reserve, families can bond, play, and discover endlessly.

There are a variety of nature tours exploring the Hacienda’s different ecosystems such as primary tropical dry forest, secondary forest, hardwood plantations, pastures, the untouched beaches and hills overlooking volcanoes, Lake Nicaragua, and the Pacific Ocean.

Additionally, the agro tourism based tours where you can learn about reforestation and our very own aquatic and organic farming practices. Should time permit, a day trip to nearby colonial Granada, including active volcanoes and an artisan village, is highly recommended.

BREAKFAST AT THE FARM
Learn all about life on the farm! Explore a working dairy farm and learn what it takes to get dairy products from farm to table. Here we will milk cows, gather eggs, visit the animals and make fresh tortillas. We will prepare and enjoy a hearty traditional breakfast.

ORGANIC FARMING
Learn about how organic agriculture finds the balance between a sustainable ecosystem while satisfying the demand for natural and healthy food. Next, you will experience the collection of vegetables and fruits.

THE HACIENDA EXPERIENCE
To get your bearings on this vast expanse of land and allow for a glimpse of the daily operations of a Nicaraguan hacienda (or farm). The idea is to briefly explain the “stations” of operation and to see the overview of our operations.

THE MAGIC OF REFORESTATION
Join us in the global initiative and help nature by planting a tree. The trees are a food source for animals living in the forest like the agoutis and monkeys. Every specie has a favorite. The Jicaro tree for active squirrels and Guapinol for sloths who are hanging around.

SUNSET ON THE HILL HIKE
Take a short hike to the premier point from where the view of the stunning sunset disappears into the Pacific. This easy and enjoyable walking experience begins at our private beach and ends on a relaxing, romantic hill overlooking the ocean. A perfect, breathtaking end to any day.

MONKEY & SLOTH QUEST
Our quest takes us into the jungle seeking the three species of monkeys found in the Nicaraguan forest: Howler monkeys, Shy Spider monkeys, and the mischievous White Faced Capuchins.
