A journey into the past, a tribute to the architectural and historical heritage of Montenvers, which has been witness to the greatest mountain climbers, adventurers, famous artists and writers. If the walls could speak, they would share many secrets about the history of this great building.

To go to the Refuge du Montenvers, a 30 minutes trip aboard the little red train is waiting for you. Destination: 1913 m altitude at the foot of the famous Mer de Glace. You will find in this refuge Made in Mont Blanc a deliciously old atmosphere, a place of sharing, authenticity and homecoming!

Built in 1880 to accommodate the first mountaineers and travelers who came to visit the Mer de Glace, it displays a sober granite façade, dotted by many small windows.

After a renovation, the historical charm of the site, as well as the “refuge” spirit seep into the unconscious of each visitor under the name Refuge du Montenvers: inviting a place of sharing, authenticity and homecoming.

The bathroom offers a bath and a shower and is open to the bedroom giving the whole area a boudoir feel. With separate WC. A sofa bed can accommodate a third person.

HIKER ROOMS
The Hiker room invites you to reconnect with nature in welcoming, comfortable lodgings. Designed like a cosy nest with reclaimed dark wood panelling, plush woolen fabrics and soft duvet, it is the perfect place for sharing authentic experiences like curling up with a book and re-reading mountain classics…

There is a sofa bed that can accomodate a third guest. Bathroom with private shower and separate WC.

REFUGE ROOMS
The Refuge room is designed to be like an intimate cocoon, offering the charm of yesteryear and old-fashioned yet comfortable furnishings: parquet flooring, reclaimed dark wood panelling, cosy bed, mountain wool fabrics and soft lighting. Bathroom with private shower and separate WC.

CABIN BED & DORMITORY
Each bed is sold individually. Privatization possible from 5 people. To keep the spirit of the high mountain refuge, the 10-person dormitory welcomes groups of mountaineers and hikers.

Completely renovated for greater comfort, it offers hut beds, with privacy, built into nooks and crannies for a real friendly mountain atmosphere. The dormitory has 2 double beds, 6 single beds and a large and functional shared bathroom and 3 separate toilets.

LUNCH OF LEGEND FACING THE DRUS
At the heart of the mythical Refuge du Montenvers, let yourself be carried away by the authenticity of a high altitude restaurant. Enjoy lunch on the sunny terrace facing the Dru peaks or inside cozy and warm in the dining room, with cuisine of authentic flavors made magical by the mountain setting.

The Restaurant du Montenvers offers mountain cuisine, featuring transalpine flavours… Onion gratin, fir tree bark, Savoy diots, guinea fowl with truffles or Savoyard fondues. The restaurant can be privatized for friendly evenings at 1913m altitude.

BISTRO WITH A VIEW
Here the view of the Mer de Glace and the Drus is breathtaking. In an atmosphere that is both modern and authentic, find the charm of an former dairy revisited in an industrial spirit.

Ceramic subway tile, notes of light woods, a simple yet refined decor leaves the beauty to the incredible view of the Petit Dru and the Mer de Glace.

The restaurant gives pride of place to regional products and offers a fine selection of Savoyard, Swiss and Valdotain cold meats (charcuterie) and cheeses served on a board.

The chef also offers you some “dishes of the moment” according to his market and seasonal products. When summer comes, take advantage of the wonderful terrace which gives the impression of being “right on the edge of the world”.

The more leisurely adventurer will enjoy the climb from Chamonix aboard the mythical little red cog Montenvers railway, offering an exceptional ride, winding through the forest, in between peaks before reaching the icy giant.

As for the adventuresome, hikers, climbers or skiers access the Montenvers in the winter either by the platform of the Aiguille du Midi or the Grands Montets ski or rappeling and crossing the Mer de Glace, to reach the staircase and the access the cable car that leads to the train station.
