Sant Francesc Hotel has been established in a mansion dating from the mid-19th century. Its existing spaces have been married with a sophisticated design and appealing interiors to turn this building into a one-of-a-kind hotel in Palma’s old town.

PAINTINGS – PRIVATE CONTEMPORARY COLLECTION

Original paintings meticulously selected to decorate guest rooms and other hotel areas. An extensive collection by renowned artists such as Guillem Nadal, Riera i Aragó, Dominica Sánchez, Jordi Alcaráz, Bruno Olle, Miguel Macaya, M.A. Campano, J.M. Broto, A. Alzamora and E. Arbós.

ARCHITECTURE – A NEOCLASSICAL MANSION

The building’s comprehensive refurbishment transformed the original rooms into stunning spaces. The cistern became a gym, the old stables the Quadrat restaurant, and the watchtower, with its dovecote, an exceptional guest room.

DESIGN – LUXURY FURNISHINGS

For a hotel such as this, a thoughtful and wide-ranging selection of designer pieces was a must. You can find items by Antonio Citterio, Jaime Hayón, Stephen Burks, Piero Lissoni, Inma Bermúdez, Davide Groppi and Bernard Schottlander, among others.

THE CITY OF PALMA OF MAJORCA

The hotel is in Palma’s old quarter. The current layout with its narrow streets dates from Arab times, the remains of a city that was once Muslim. With the arrival of King James I the Conqueror in 1229, swathes of land were surrendered to religious orders, such as the Franciscans.

PLAZA SANT FRANCESC

The hotel’s current location formed part of the property of Santa Eulalia Church. Palma was divided into five parishes that held the judicial, financial and administrative power. The first stone of the magnificent Sant Francesc Church was laid in January 1281 by order of King James II.

THE ALOMAR FAMILY – FORMER OWNERS OF THE MANSION

The Alomar family owned the property from the beginning of the 19th century to the end of the 20th century. The last alteration took place in 1860. This wealthy family earned their money from large sugar-cane-crop areas on their Santa Isabel Plantation in Puerto Rico.

Palma Cathedral

Built on the site of a pre-existing Arab mosque, the Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma was designed in the Catalan Gothic style and adopted by Antoni Gaudí idea during his take-over project. It situated on between Royal Palace of La Almudaina and the Episcopal palace and overlooks to Parc de la Mar and the Mediterranean Sea.

Located right opposite the Cathedral, it is known as the Alcázar of the city and now belongs to the public Patrimonio Nacional which administers the assets of the State for the Crown and used as an official residence for ceremonies and States receptions by Royal family.

La Lonja

Built by Guillem Sagrera on 14th century, it is well-known as masterpieces of Gothic civil architecture in Mallorca and regarded as the college of merchants. This monument is the symbol of the economic splendor of the merchants in fifteenth century and was the president chair in the Paseo Sagrera, situated right opposite the sea.

Pilar & Joan Miró Foundation

It is known as a unique museum that enables visitors to explore not only the artworks of the artist Joan Miró itself, but also to contemplate the artist’s creative surroundings, through direct contact with the studios in which the he worked and lived his life with his wife Pilar from 1956 until his death in 1983.

The Arabic Baths

Located in the old town of Palma de Malloca, the Arabic bath is virtually considered as one of the few examples of Muslim architectures in Palma dated back to 10th century. It consists of a central room used for hot baths and the tepidarium has a dome in the shape of a half orange, with 25 round shafts for sun light, supported by a dozen different columns.

Es Baluard Museum

Opened its door in 2004, Es Baluard is perceived as one of the most important modern and contemporary arts museum across the globe. It consists of up to 500 artworks from modern and contemporary artists that related to the island as well as international reference. Located at only 15 minutes walking from Hotel Sant Francesc.

Olivar Market

Founded in 1951 and renovated in 1997, it is called as the main food market in Palma de Mallorca and features up to 100 stalls and numerous eateries offering a wide range of fresh foods including fish and seafood, meats, cheeses and much more. Not know only as a food market, there are also supermarket, shopping arcade or even entertainment for kids like library and playroom.

Bellver Castle

Situated at 3 kilometers to the west of Palma city, the Mallorcan Gothic style castle is acknowledged as one of the few circular castles in Europe and a seat for the city’s History Museum. It was built on 14th century and now features an interesting museum and spectacular views over Palma bay. The Juan March Foundation Museum

Located in a 17th century building and housed in the former mansion. Only at 7 minutes walking from our Hotel Sant Francesc, the museum features a collection of 20th century Spanish artworks by significant artists including Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Juan Gris and Salvador Dalí as well as various mid-century movements and recent generations.

Cap de Formentor

Being called by Mallorcan as the meeting point of the wind, it forms the eastern end of Majorca’s Fomenter peninsula and located on the northernmost point of the Balearic offering the most spectacular and picturesque view overlooking the sea and mountains. The caves of Drach

Located in the island of Mallorca, specifically in Manacor town, it consists of four caves together which are called Black Cave, White Cave, Cave of Luis Salvador, and Cave of the French. The caves have formed by water being forced through the entrance from the Mediterranean Sea and there is an underground lake situated in the caves called Martel Lake.
