WINERY SCHALLERHOF
Enjoy a glass of wine in a vineyard where it is grown while you allow the unique panorama of the Dolomites and rooftops of Bolzano to take your breath away. On little more than 2ha of cultivated area on our winery we grow three types of wine:

  • Our S. Maddalena is the strongest of our Schiava wines due to its small Lagrein content (10%). Ruby red color with slightly hints of violet. The dry, full and spicy flavour with light tones of almonds is typical for this variety. (Autochthonous wine)
  • Straw yellow in color, typical fruity and aromatic, our Gewürztraminer scent with a fragrance of intense spicy, floral and smoked notes. Rich bouquet of roses and exotic fruit, rich and full on the palate with a harmonious and fresh aftertaste. (Autochthonous wine)
  • Our Chardonnay is pale yellow in color with green reflections and characterizes the variety with it’s diversity of aromas: mature fruits such as apple and pear and bananas mixed with exotic fruit notes of mango and a trace of honey.

THE SPA
Glide weightlessly through the water and feel the beneficial effects of the sauna. Indulge in a little relaxation after an action-packed day in the Obereggen hiking and skiing area. Your body needs sufficient time to recover.

The spa at the Sporthotel Obereggen in the Dolomites has therefore devised a whole range of soothing treatments, vigorous massages, and cleansing peelings. Immerse yourself in our bubbling water world and soak up the beneficial heat of our saunas. A few hours in our soothing spa oasis will make you fit for the next round of adventurous holiday activities.

WORLD OF WATER
Immerse yourself in the pool, swim without a care in the world and float whenever the fancy takes you. Treat yourself to a proper time-out. After a full day of activities in the mountains, it is important to relax thoroughly. The feeling of weightlessness in our pools relieves your body and eases tension in no time.

THE SWIMMING POOL
Really get your circulation going in our pool or float in the 30 degrees warm water and unwind. Swimming before a spa treatment or after an exciting day’s activity is the ideal balance. And the best thing is the earthy hues all around and the magnificent view of the Dolomites.

THE WHIRLPOOL
Let your thoughts roam in our two whirlpools. Feel how the warm water simply bubbles away stress and tension. The light massage stimulates your metabolism and eases any discomfort. In the whirlpools, you can recharge your batteries for the upcoming day’s hiking or skiing.

WORLD OF SAUNA
Inhale the fine fragrance of wood and herbs, feel the small pearls of sweat form on your skin and concentrate fully on your breathing. A strong immune system, a trained heart and clean skin using hot air? Hard to believe but true what a great effect a simple sauna session has on your overall health. Do yourself some good.

FINNISH SAUNA
The classic and still most popular way to sweat is the Finnish sauna. The processed wood breathes and gives off a delicious, natural scent. The 90-degree heat ensures you sweat out waste products and your airways are cleansed in no time. Cool down afterwards and unwind in our cosy relaxation zone.

BIO-HERB SAUNA
The bio-herb sauna is also called low temperature sauna, danarium or sanarium. It is very gentle on the circulation. The air humidity is about 50% and the average temperature is 50°C. Since the bio-herb sauna is gentle on the circulation, the duration of stay is somewhat longer, between 15 and 30 minutes.

TURKISH STEAM BATH
Inspired by Greek and Roman bathing rituals, the steam bath was developed in Turkey. In contrast to a sauna, you enjoy higher humidity and lower temperatures between 50 and 60 degrees. Plus, the focus is not on steam but water. Experience gentle, cleansing wellness.

SPA TREATMENTS
A place where everything revolves around deep relaxation, cleansing care and natural beauty. Focus on yourself for a change and regain new strength for everyday life. Indulging in fine treatments and massages from time to time is essential for your physical and mental health.

Being human from root to flower. Our alpine region is abundant with natural treasures and effective officinal plants that draw their vital active ingredients and nutrients from the heart of the Earth.

To make sure that these natural and toning resources can be safely and delicately transferred to your skin, we’ve developed “Phyto-Art”, an exclusive line of natural organic cosmetics coming from South Tyrol, capable of promoting an interior and exterior beauty that blossoms and glimmers like the sea, with natural raw ingredients extracted from a rich collection of indigenous wild plants.

Each facial care product from our cosmetic line contains at least four officinal plants that can be connected to the four elements: fire, water, earth and air.

Our objective is to make holistic, self-regenerative, personalised high-quality products, with a philosophy based on the knowledge that man and nature form an inseparable unity capable of establishing the right balance between soul, body and mind. This is what “Phyto-Art” is – beauty that takes root and blooms in all its splendour.

THE SHOP
Take a stroll through our all-round shop and sample some delicious treats. We are always on hand if you need any advice. Maybe you left something important at home, find the South Tyrolean products especially pleasing, need practical everyday items or are just looking for a nice gift for your friends back home, the hotel shop has everything you could possibly want for your holiday in South Tyrol.

SUMMER HOLIDAY
Explore the stunning scenery around the Latemar your own way. The mountain village of Obereggen situated at over 1,500 metres above sea level, is a gateway to the unspoilt natural landscape of meadows, spruce and larch forests and a great place for hiking in the Dolomites.

Get to know the area along pleasant hiking trails, adventurous via ferratas or fast-paced singletrack trails. The best place to start is from the Sporthotel Obereggen itself or use the nearby lift facilities.

While golf enthusiasts hone their technique at the nearby Golf Club Petersberg, the bikers are out on the winding mountain roads. Whichever activity you choose to pursue, the magnificent view of the Latemar, Pala di Santa, Corno Bianco and the Rocca o Corno Nero mountains are always by your side.

WINTER HOLIDAY
Looking for a little variety? Why not try a new winter sport? Skiing in the Dolomites perhaps. The Sporthotel Obereggen is located right next to the slopes, so skiing and snowboarding fun in the Dolomites start right outside the front door.

The two lifts right next door take you up to the Obereggen ski area at the foot of the mighty Latemar in just a few minutes. The variety of slopes, guaranteed snow and spectacular events make the ski resort an amazing place for winter fun.

The whole family will also love tobogganing down the twisty slopes. The best way to explore the pristine winter landscape is by snowshoeing, cross-country skiing or taking a ski tour. Take a look at just how varied a winter holiday in Val d’Ega and skiing in the Dolomites can be.

ART & CULTURE
Get to know the diverse influences, the changing history and the local people. It’s true that you reach the countryside much faster from the Sporthotel Obereggen than the city, but Bolzano, the capital of South Tyrol, is just an easy 20-minute-drive away from Obereggen.

Saunter through the old town, visit one of the amazing museums and enjoy a classic aperitif on the sun terrace of a cosy bar on a Dolomites holiday. German punctuality and carefree Dolce Vita both influence the lifestyle of South Tyrol in a uniquely, special way.

Culinary dishes such as the Tyrolean Marende and Spaghetti all’Amatriciana are equally popular. Discover the colourful diversity of the South Tyrolean culture for yourself.

THE DOLOMITES
Not only does Obereggen give you free access to the unspoilt countryside, it also has a vibrant city life.  In Obereggen at an altitude of 1,500 metres, freedom in the heart of the picturesque Val d’Ega valley really seems limitless.

Surrounded by the Dolomites – declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009 – you will feel right at home. Explore the Rosengarten-Latemar-Val d’Ega region on your own, enjoy the endless peace and quiet and breathe in the crystal-clear mountain air.

As you survey the natural surroundings, you won’t believe the compact mountain village is only 20 kilometres from Bolzano. Stroll through the historic arcades in the old town, saunter along the traditional fruit market and enjoy a glass of fine wine on Walther square. Experience how the German and Italian culture meet in the capital of South Tyrol.

LATEMARIUM
The Latemar Massive – a jewel of Mother Nature – provides the breathtaking backdrop to the Latemarium – a realm full of excitement and adventure, in Obereggen. Because of its geological and botanical importance as well as beautiful landscape, this magnificent massive – surrounded by unique hiking trails – was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The new thematic trails will lead you through ancient alpine forests and over verdant meadows to managed alpine huts. And last, but not least, the easy access makes your stay in Obereggen a special natural experience for the whole family.

GEOPARC BLETTERBACHSCHLUCHT
At the southwestern foothills of the Dolomites you can find adventure parks, learning center, nature monuments and an impressive Canyon with its geological treasures and diverse landscapes. Discover the history of earth in one of the most beautiful areas in South Tyrol.

CAREZZA LAKE
According to legends, once upon a time there was a mermaid living in the lake, which wizard Masaré was in love with. In order to seduce her, the witch Lanwerda advised him to dress up as jewel merchant and throw a rainbow from Mt. Catinaccio to Mt. Latemar. That is what he did, but he forgot to dress up. So the beautiful mermaid detected him and forever disappeared in Lake Carezza. The wizard was angry and threw all the pieces of the rainbow as well as the jewels into the waters. That’s why it still features rainbow colours.

MADONNA DI PIETRALBA
An imposing, monumental sight in the charming natural landscape of the Val d’Ega: the pilgrimage site of Madonna di Pietralba. Every tree, every meadow seemed to glow with the apparition of the Virgin Mary to hermit Leonhard Weissensteiner who, after falling into a deep ravine, encountered the Mother of God in 1553.

In her honour he erected a little chapel, which was subsequently ex-panded and turned into an impressive pilgrimage site and gave its name to the little hamlet close to Monte San Pietro.

ÖTZI THE ICEMAN
Ötzi is a glacier mummy from the Copper Age, who, thanks to extraordinary circumstances, has been preserved down to the present day. Little by little, he has imparted genuine stores of knowledge.

He was discovered accidentally by hikers in 1991, together with his clothing and equipment, on the Schnalstal/Val Senales Valley glacier and has been the subject of intensive research ever since. Can be see in the South Tyrolean Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano.

RENON’S FAMOUS EARTH PYRAMIDS
Europe’s tallest and most perfectly shaped earth pyramids are to be found on the Renon mountain in several locations: in the gorge of the Finsterbach creek between Longomoso and Monte di Mezzo, in the Katzenbach-creek gorge below Soprabolzano, and in the gorge of Gasters in Auna di Sotto.

TRAUTTMANSDORFF CASTLE
In the gardens of Schloss Trauttmansdorff Castle contains plants collected from all over the world, all presented in a typical South Tyrolean setting. Footpaths wind their way through the water features and gently-sloping terraces of the garden of the senses or the Japanese garden, the hillocks of cacti and succulents or the cultivated southern plants like olive trees or grapevines.
