The true spirit of Cornwall lies to the South East. Undiscovered and unspoilt. Away from the crowds, in a quiet nook. At Talland Bay it’s the sky above and waves below. It’s fine tipple and burning ocean sunsets. It’s you and yours. Be free on an elemental coast, hidden from the world.

Real food is made with heart, from seasonal local ingredients. Provenance is paramount to us. Our head chef Glen Merriot, and his team, source proper Cornish produce. Fresh seafood off the boat, quality meats, and the richest dairy produce in the country.

Glen learnt the ropes from Michelin Starred trained chefs and has battled his way to the top over the last decade. Whole hearty food, created with knowlege, passion & he takes great pride in his extensive cook book collection, taking inspiration from professional chefs which can be seen on the plate!

Our lush tropic gardens are dotted with curiosities to pique your interest. It’s a recapturing of uninhibited childhood imagination. And for reflective moments, recline upon our trim lawn—a grass infinity pool vanishing into ocean. See for yourself.

Be where rolling patchwork fields surrender to the shimmering English Channel. Cuddle up on our soft beds. Catch glimpses of azure sea and dappled gardens between fluttering curtains. Sip coffee at dawn and something stronger at dusk. Eat well and fall asleep without a care. Leave behind the usual.

The best food is an emotional experience. It excites our senses and fills us with delight. One of life’s true pleasures. At Talland Bay we’re committed to a dining experience that moves you. That’s why we only use local Cornish produce.

Our team, led by Glen Meriott, selects seasonal fare—freshly caught, picked, churned, and plucked. Then, with a flourish of imagination, they create inspirational dishes.

Residents & all are welcome to two menus served Monday to Saturday, on Sundays, we slow down the pace a little & serve our Sunday Roast menu at lunch time & dinner time, so, you are welcome to two roast dinners but we recommend taking advantage of our beautiful grounds or the local area at lunch time.

Food is a connection with the rural heartlands and coasts of our pretty island. It’s visceral and meant to be savoured. We hope our food unites you with Cornwall and makes you smile. Your happiness means everything to us.

FRESH LOCAL PRODUCTS
From quality produce comes quality food. Everything we serve at Talland Bay is made from local ingredients. Cornwall and its seasonal bounties stir the creativity of our head chef Glen Merriot and his team.

Our menus reflect the best produce and culinary talent Cornwall has to offer. We serve our dinner menu in both the restaurant & the conservatory, but we can also offer an Al a Carte menu at lunch & dinner.

AFTERNOON TEA
An afternoon tea is a slow affair, that cultivates quality time with those you care about. It’s a rejuvenating interlude during hot summers and a cosy moment in the chill mid-winter. It’s time well spent. Afternoon teas have evolved since 1840 when Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, decided that afternoons were shamefully foodless.

At Talland Bay tuck into a moreish selection of fresh homemade cakes, sandwiches, and scones—accompanied by tea, coffee, or perhaps a crisp glass of bubbly or a G&T. There’s nothing wrong with making merry in the afternoon. You’re on holiday after all.

TALLAND BAY GIN
Bittersweet and totally refreshing. Nothing beats a G&T on warm, golden evenings. Particularly if you can sip it whilst gazing out to sea.

We’re so enamoured with gin we’ve created our own, in partnership with the Colwith Farm Distillery. The first ‘plough to bottle’ distillery in Cornwall. Our idea was to distil a pure spirit, true to its roots, yet firmly of the Cornish farmlands and coast.

Our gin is fragrant with a warm finish. Think coriander, cinnamon, and angelica. In the soft hue of a gently approaching twilight, with the salt breeze in your hair and the open coast, it is a fitting accompaniment.

WEDDINGS IN CORNWALL
Our hotel is an elegant space to host your wedding. We have a dining area with antique wood panelling leading out to a patio, and a flourishing garden—presenting the best sea view in the West Country.

To top this off our double AA Rosette wedding food is utterly delicious, and we stock a range of gins, whiskies, wines, ciders, and craft beers. An atmospheric wedding of plenty.

It’s your special day and understandably you might not want to share it (except with your guests of course). You can book out the entirety of our hotel from 12pm on your wedding day to 11am the following morning.

Receive the undivided attention of our team and a private party above the waves like no other. You’ll also have a complimentary honeymoon suite for the night and our rooms will be offered at a special reduced rate.

At Talland Bay we have the flexibility to host the wedding you want. This includes conducting marriage ceremonies, organising food and drink, flowers and décor, music, timings, and other important matters. Although, as a polite note, our venue is for intimate weddings of 50 and under.

THINGS TO DO IN CORNWALL
Cornwall is a land of coastal heaths, flushed with heather. A place where pristine beaches unfurl for miles at a time. Where undulating hills meet open sea. Where an oceanic climate nurtures tropical gardens, verdant, deep, and a wonder to explore. If it’s your first time, prepare to fall in love.

YACHT CHARTER
Our guests at Talland Bay can now experience a fabulous time on the water, with our colleagues at Plymouth Yacht Charter. Experience a unique perspective of Plymouth and the surrounding coastline from the flybridge of our luxury yacht – Cool Blue.

Relax, unwind and savour the moment with family & friends as our colleagues at Plymouth Yacht Charter take you on a fascinating tour of Plymouth and the surrounding coastline. Enjoy a unique perspective of Plymouth Hoe, Drake’s Island, Royal William Yard, Plymouth Sound and Devonport Naval Base.

Savour the peace and tranquility of being at anchor, and having lunch in a pretty, unspoilt bay. You can even dip your toes in the water! Skippered Charter for up to 8 Guests including complimentary fizz, light lunch, refreshments and all fuel – based in Plymouth (40 mins drive).

THE BEACHES
Cornwall is world famous for its spectacular beaches. From hidden coves, to surfer’s paradises. From silken sands to smuggler’s caves. When you visit, you’ll see why the tough, yet gentle Cornish coast has been an inspiration for artists and writers for generations and will be for generations to come.

SOUTH WEST COAST PATH
Taking on a scenic stretch of the South West Coast Path, is perhaps the best way to experience the Cornish Coast. Often, you’ll find yourself alone for hours at a time. Nothing but the rippling wild grass and roar of the ocean.

LOST GARDENS OF HELIGAN
A true lost world brought back to life by visionary horticulturalists. The Gardens of the Heligan Estate were once just briars and creepers. What lay beneath was unknown and abandoned.

In 1990 they were discovered once more, and after the biggest garden renovation project in Europe, some mysterious and magical gardens were resurrected. A wonderful place to lose yourself for a few hours.

EDEN PROJECT
The Eden Project is a five-time winner of the British Travel Awards, Best Leisure Attraction accolade. It’s easy to see why. There’s nothing else like it; huge biomes that simulate the climates of our planet, with more than 1000 different plant species between them. The botanical skill involved is mind-blowing and their dedication to environmental issues and education is second to none.

MINACK THEATRE
Alongside the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, The Minack is the most iconic theatre in our country. A magnificent amphitheatre, hewn from the rock high above Porthcurno beach. On a summer’s evening, with the vast Atlantic Ocean as a backdrop, it’s a singular experience watching a production here.

POLPERRO
On the other side of our headland is one of the most quintessential fishing villages in the county. It’s the village you imagine when you imagine Cornwall, with fishing boats in the harbour and ancient cottages climbing up the hillside. Polperro is a beautiful place, worth taking some time over.
