Intimate, secluded and wonderfully off the beaten track, unknown even to many locals, adjacent to a 260-acre protected forested bird sanctuary and within walking distance of the beach, it’s a hidden gem with spectacular sweeping ocean and tropical forest views.
On one of the last truly yet to be discovered unspoilt islands in the Caribbean, The Villas at Stonehaven offers barefoot luxury and unparalleled privacy for romantic getaways, destination weddings or simply reconnecting with family.
The 11 acres of land on which the resort sits was originally part of the Grafton Cocoa Estate. Following Hurricane Flora, in 1963, the owner of the Estate, Eleanor Alefounder, took to feeding the wild birds, whose habitat had been badly damaged.
In her will, she bequeathed parcels of land to members of her family on the condition that the 260 acres of forest which adjoins the Stonehaven property remains a wildlife sanctuary.
Arne Hasselqvist, the architect/builder who was responsible along with the landowner, Lord Glenconner, (Colin Tennant) and theatre set designer Oliver Messel for the development of Mustique, developed a design that referenced the 18th century French occupation of Tobago.
He specified materials such as andiroba and greenheart hardwoods from Guyana, oil-rubbed bronze hardware from Peru, granite and marble countertops from Brazil and floor tiles from Italy.
There are many wonderful stories of ‘happenings’ during the construction of Stonehaven, including several ‘visits’ from the original owner, Eleanor, who was seen riding her white horse bare back through the site with her long hair flowing!
Finally, in 2000, after three years of construction, Stonehaven Villas opened for business with a champagne celebration.
Among the many invitees was Eleanor’s brother ‘Uncle Max’ who had sold the parcel of land to Stonehaven. Sadly, two weeks after this event, Arne Hasselqvist, designer and a co-investor died tragically in a fire in the Bahamas where he had gone to start his next project.

Our 3,025-square-foot two-bedroom villa features Two Bedrooms each with ensuite bathrooms. Villas are equipped with either 2 king bedrooms (1 on first floor and 1 on ground floor) or 1 twin bedroom & 1 king bedroom.

THE PAVILION
Wake up to breakfast served on the terraces of The Pavilion from 7.00 a.m. daily except Monday while savoring the cool early morning sunshine and enjoying panoramic ocean views. Stay with us and jump-start your day with a complimentary beverage and pastry.
Our menu offers a choice of local or international breakfast. Lunch can be a quick or leisurely affair by the half-moon infinity pool. Dine alfresco satisfying culinary cravings while overlooking fragrant tropical gardens with the murmur of waves breaking on the distant seashore.
Menu highlights include freshly caught lobster or catch of the day, rack of lamb or baby back ribs. Our staff is on hand to suggest a wine pairing for your meal selection.
THE CLUBHOUSE
The Clubhouse is where guests meet and mingle while sipping a coffee or drinking in the tropical landscape. There is no better place to enjoy a refreshing cocktail or a light lunch while soaking up the sun and cooling down in the infinity pool.
Teatime is 3.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m., and we welcome our in-house guests to tuck into our freshly baked cookies courtesy of our chef. Join us for Happy Hour daily except Monday.
