With a deeply rooted sense of the extraordinary, of highest quality and of authentic hospitality, CERVO invites its guests to explore the impressive nature around us. And to discover themselves.

Nomad, Alpinist and Huntsman: three different facets from the same world. The lodges from these three categories are spread over the grounds of our Mountain Resort.

With the Overlook Lodge just a short walk from the CERVO we offer complete apartments. All accommodations have a unique view of the surrounding mountains.

OVERLOOK LODGE

PENTHOUSE APARTMENT
Stylish and spacious, this is the Penthouse Apartment with its high ceilings and modern design. The real star is the breathtaking view of the Matterhorn. But the unique feeling of space is in no way inferior. Free view of nature and mountains and pure relaxation in front of the fireplace in the living area.

NOMAD 4*

ALPINIST 5*S
Warm colors, elegant wooden surfaces, natural materials and distinct architecture – the Alpinist stands for peace and relaxation. The stylish sanctuaries combine modern zeitgeist and alpine feel-good factor.

The orientation to the south provides magnificent views of the mystical mountain world. After a long and exciting day in nature, the private bar in every room provides relaxed evenings with freshly mixed drinks.

HUNTSMAN 5*
Away from the bustle of the town, the most exclusive way to experience the magic of Zermatt is hidden. Slightly elevated, surrounded by nature, its impressive mountain world traveler find the Huntsman.

The exclusive chalet offers a unique experience of peace and seclusion. The CERVO’s alpine roots have shaped the design of the spacious Huntsman Lodge and suites and ensure a noble hunting ambience.

HUNTSMAN LODGE
The Huntsman Lodge is the home of all Huntsman suites. Whether you are looking for 4, 5 or 6 rooms, the lodge is becoming exactly what you need.

A private fitness, the possibility of private catering and an incomparable view to the Matterhorn, are only a few of the points which make the Huntsman Lodge your private luxury heaven away from home.

RESTAURANTS & BARS
Eat, drink, celebrate – the culinary part is essential for the CERVO spirit. Our bars and restaurants cover a wide variety of culinary traditions, while remaining true to one principle: sincere service and the pleasure of hosting guests and visitors.

BAZAAR
Inspired by the lively markets of the East, the Bazaar is the heart of CERVO. This is the place where everyone gets together: modern nomads, explorers and locals. The atmosphere is relaxed, people chat, drink, meet, dine. The delicious dishes are 100% vegetarian and are served throughout the day.

MADRE NOSTRA
The Madre Nostra celebrates Italy’s culinary tradition in all its deliciousness. Modern creations and refined classics with all the wonderful treasures Mother Earth has to offer. To make sure that they reach your table as fresh as possible, the ingredients come directly from local farms and fishermen.

From homemade pasta to delicious interpretations of grilled meat and fish, the Madre Nostra carries Italian cuisine in its heart and on its plate. At lunch time the rooms of Madre Nostra are open as the CERVO KITCHEN and provide you with the best dishes from all our restaurants combined.

FERDINAND
Fresh air for traditional Valais cuisine. At Ferdinand, only Swiss products are used – most of them even from the Valais itself. If you like cheese you will love the fondue and raclette.

And the many delicious Valais specialties never fail to surprise. The contemporary interior of the chalet shows the modern side of the Zermatt mountain aesthetics. Delight throughout.

CERVO KITCHEN
At lunch time the rooms of Madre Nostra are open as the CERVO KITCHEN and provide you with the best dishes from all three CERVO restaurants. Directly from the ski slope into our cosy restaurant or onto the large terrace – at CERVO KITCHEN everyone is welcome.

GRAPES & JUNIPER
So hidden, you almost miss it. The entrance to the Grapes & Juniper Bar is reserved for those who look closely. Once in, there are 40 different types of gin and wines from all over the world to discover. The atmosphere is relaxed and the cocktail masters behind the bar are happy to help if the choice is difficult.

DELIVERY & TAKE AWAY
Special times call for special measures. Unfortunately we are not allowed to welcome external guests in our restaurants for the time being, but you don’t have to do without our new and proven delicacies. At lunchtime and in the evening we offer you a selected menu for take away as well as three packages for on the slopes.

APRES SKI TAKE AWAY
Get your Glühwein and a delicious Momo before walking home at the end of the slope on the Ferdinand Terrace.

LUNCH ON THE SLOPES
The restaurants are not allowed to serve guests at the moment. But you do not have to go through the day hungry. Our three lunch packages offer you superlative meals on the slopes. Of course you can also enjoy the CERVO delicacies on a hike.

MOUNTAIN ASHRAM SPA
Peace, relaxation and mindfulness: The Mountain Ashram Flow is inspired by Japanese onsen, Bhutanese hot stone baths and the Northern European art of sauna.

Precious local herbs and fresh spring water bring centuries-old traditions from all over the world to the Zermatt mountain landscape. Off to a journey to your inner self.

TREATMENTS & RITUALS
Over centuries, different cultures have refined to use the power of nature. This knowledge serves us as the basis for the holistic program of treatments and rituals that we offer our CERVO guests.

FOR BODY AND SOUL
Our approach is comprehensive and includes the care of the body as well as the power of meditation and sound spheres. Massages with valuable local herbs have a detoxifying and harmonizing effect.

Treatments from far and near illuminate the physical and mental well-being holistically. Young and old will find in our spa menu the perfect treatment that provides balance.

YOGA & MEDITATION
True care sees body and mind in harmony. The balance of relaxation and activity is central to a holistic sense of well-being. Yoga, Meditation, Pilates – balance from within and outside.

Regular sound meditations and yoga sessions provide balance. In addition to the holistic program of individual treatments, the self-guided care of body and mind should not be neglected. Whether it is in a group or privately, our yoga and meditation offerings are tailored to the wishes of the guest.

Every week a new program is put together, at which hotel guests can participate free of charge. From sound meditations to yoga flows to more demanding Pilates sessions, everyone will find what they are looking for.

RITUAL ROOM
The ritual room reflects the infinite width of the landscape.

THE ROOM
The reduced architecture of the ritual room provides a calming influence on the flow and promotes awareness of the moment. Its acoustic quality intensifies the effect of the singing bowl meditations.

Also, the flexible interior allows the room to be used in a variety of ways. If not outside on the yoga deck under the open sky, meditations and yoga classes take place here.

THE ACCESSORIES
The material for the group as well as private classes can be borrowed from the hotel. With the mats and tools from Jade Yoga, the environment is protected and the yoga and meditation practice is twice as fun.

THE OCCASSIONS
The relaxed atmosphere is also the ideal setting for get togethers with friends or work colleagues. Movie nights or readings also take place in the ritual room – lying in a beanbag it is much easier to listen attentively.

HOLISTIC SPA
Different bathing spots are distributed over the grounds of the Mountain Ashram. You reach them via different paths, choose your route each time and discover something new every time.

The flow begins in a steam bath that starts with moderate temperatures for acclimatization. From there, our guests move at their own pace through the spa, landing at the great Onsen, which is inspired by Japan’s centuries-old bathing tradition.

It offers an unobstructed view of the Matterhorn. The large infinity pool feeds the small waterfall. Defined by the rushing water in summer and the iced current in winter its impression is different each time.

The next stop is the sauna, where well-being, health and relaxation get a boost by the alternating baths in the hot wooden room and cooling pools. Regularly, infusions with essential oils from local herbs take place allowing Zermatt’s nature to flow in. The same herbs can then be enjoyed in the tea yurt.

Another highlight is the slightly secluded wooden hut, surrounded by trees, where an exclusive Bhutanese bath can be booked. The perfect place to enjoy peace and quiet.

MINDFULNESS
Being constantly reachable, a world that never sleeps and an everyday life that passes by us in a flash. Life has become so fast that it has become difficult to take time for oneself and to perceive and appreciate the little moments and things. Mindfulness wants to help here.

“You can’t stop the waves but you can learn to surf.” – Jon Kabat-Zinn, the founder of the MBSR method (mindfulness based stress reduction) has put it in a nutshell. Fighting against the passage of time is useless, but you can learn to eliminate stress and take small breaks in your daily life.

When we are mindful, we accept all sensations, thoughts and feelings, whether pleasant or not, as they are. We experience every moment in its full development. We do not judge and we do not classify – we are.

Mindfulness exercises can be easily integrated into everyday life and do not require much time. 5-15 minutes a day can already have a great effect. Whether it is a classical meditation with guidance or small breathing exercises in between, mindfulness has many different forms.

OCCASIONS
The Matterhorn is said to have a magical aura. So it can’t hurt to welcome this unique mountain as a guest of honor at an event. No matter if private or business. The CERVO restaurants, bars and lodges can be rented in flexible combinations. An extraordinary backdrop that gives every occasion the special setting it deserves.

ACTIVITIES
Zermatt is a playground for sport enthusiasts and nature lovers. Those who have been here once will come back and not only because of the Matterhorn.

CLIMBING WALL
The mountains around us invite you to do so. Our climbing wall offers it to you. Refine your climbing skills in the safe environment of your hotel.

For climbing fans and those who want to become one there is a special opportunity to prove their skills: The staircase to the Nomad lodge is fully equipped with four climbing routes and a boulder area and offers mountaineering training on different floors.

Both beginners as well as advanced climbers will find their place by choosing the right “tour” based on the color-coded routes. Experienced mountain guides from Zermatt have set up the routes and are available for private and group lessons.

GYM
True care means body and mind in harmony. Selected fitness and private training offers at CERVO provide year-round exercise away from the slopes and hiking trails.

The absolute dream setting for sports and activities in Zermatt is clearly the breathtaking nature. But as a supplement, our guests can use the fitness area for training. It is equipped with various machines and is located in Chalet VII, where the Huntsman rooms are situated.

Slightly elevated and a little away from our mountain resort, it offers the best view of the Matterhorn. Training in the gym can be done alone or with a private trainer. Our coach adapts his training to each individual guest – this way you too can achieve your next fitness goal. For more information our team will be happy to help you.

NEIGHBORHOOD
Every season, the beauty of the nature of the Swiss Alps shows itself in its different facets. Activities around the Matterhorn invite you to discover the surrounding area in an individual way.

High up on the peaks that mean the world to many. In the region around Zermatt there are mountain panoramas galore. Over thirty four-thousand-metre peaks can be reached from here, and the Matterhorn is the most striking of them.

Due to the impressive mountain world and the connection to Italy, winter sports in Zermatt are legendary. Along the 360 kilometers of slopes there are countless excellent restaurants, which invite you to have a break – no matter if you are skiing, snowboarding or on foot.

But what many people do not know is that the area also offers skiing fun in summer. The child-friendly Matterhorn glacier paradise is the highest summer ski area in Europe. Besides skiing, snowtubing is also offered at almost 4’000m above sea level.

But you can also enjoy the magic of the winter in Zermatt next to the ski slopes: dog sleigh rides, ice skating, tobogganing, cross-country skiing or a large network of winter hiking trails offer activities for everyone.

Another spot which is worth a visit in any season: The Gornergrat is also a destination for inexperienced alpinists: the viewing platform offers a breathtaking view of the Matterhorn and the entire mountain scenery. It can be reached on foot or with the Gornergrat railroad, which is only 10 minutes away from CERVO.

Anyone who has had enough of the impressive nature will learn everything about the history of the place in the Matterhorn Museum. From the adventurous first ascent of the Matterhorn to its development into a vacation resort, there is a lot to discover.

But also without snow there is a lot to do in Zermatt. In addition to 400km of hiking trails, there is a forest fun park, via ferratas, countless mountains to conquer and in Täsch a golf course and our Schali Lago.

MATTERHORN
Triangular. A rock tooth that soars into the sky. Standing alone on the horizon. Attraction for alpinists, aesthetic emblem, mountain with ideal proportions. With rugged terrain, with enchanting light. With cloud plays and horizon discolorations. Getting fed up with the Matterhorn? Impossible.

At 4,478 meters above sea level, the majestic Matterhorn – probably the most famous mountain in Europe – extends in a breathtaking Alpine panorama.

The free-standing landmark of Switzerland is located on the border of the western Swiss canton of Valais – between Zermatt and the Italian Breuil-Cervinia – and offers a paradise for all nature lovers with the romantic view of the surroundings.

The symmetrical pyramid shape, the rock tooth protruding into the sky and the light reflections in the surrounding mountain lakes make the landscape of the mountain region a unique natural spectacle.

Just as spectacular as the mountain itself is the story of the first ascent. On July 14, 1865, Edward Whymper, together with a group of Englishmen and two mountain guides from Zermatt, managed the ascent to the summit from Zermatt.

The tragedy then occurred on the descent. A part of the rope party fell and only the two Zermatters, father and son Peter Taugwalder, and Edward Whymper himself survived.

For this reason, the first ascent has been accompanied by rumors to this day. You can find more background information on this exciting story on this page or in the Matterhorn Museum next to the church in Zermatt.

SCHALI LAGO
In the middle of the mountains and yet so close to the beach! Only a few minutes away from Zermatt lies the small village of Täsch with the Schali Lake. On its shores, Schali Lago offers summer atmosphere with cool drinks, Mediterranean food and guaranteed beach feeling.

From the popular classic, the CERVO fries with truffle oil and parmesan, to the vegetarian pita bread and gelato, there is everything that makes for a cosy summer afternoon – including a unique alpine panorama with picturesque turquoise shimmering lake water.

APRÉS-SKI
Direct ski-in to end a day on the slopes in style. On two terraces, located directly at the end of the slope, our curated program promises special evenings. Highlights from live sessions to exclusive DJ sets and delicious drinks.

With a stunning view of the Matterhorn and surrounded by warm hospitality, guests and locals alike celebrate the unique CERVO feeling. As a member of our Democratic Mountain Community you can reserve a table at après-ski.

COMMUNITY
The CERVO is an awareness of life. Every guest is a part of the experience. The community and the companionship characterize us – together is better than alone!

With the different club options the community idea is combined with the CERVO pleasures. Simplified reservations, exclusive advantages and a relaxed visit – for a carefree time out in the CERVO world.

DEMOCRATIC MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY
Après ski, restaurant visits and special events – with the Democratic Mountain Community you are right in the middle of it instead of just nearby. Exclusive reservation rights and promotions are just two of the benefits of a DMC membership.

BEYOND EXPLORING CLUB
Living at home but enjoying the CERVO life? Yes, this is possible! As a Beyond Exploring Club member the CERVO doors are wide open for you, no matter if you are staying with us or not.

CERVO HISTORY
Daniel F. Lauber and Seraina Lauber had a dream: a boutique hotel at the base of the Matterhorn, where the whole world could come together and enjoy a break.

THE DREAM BECOMES REALITY
At the end of 2009 the CERVO Mountain Boutique Resort opened its doors. In two phases of construction, five chalets and a restaurant were initially built, giving Zermatt a new highlight.

A good ten years later, the “new” CERVO Mountain Resort reopens its doors in December 2020 and presents itself with a new concept and expanded lodges. As the son of a passionate hunter, the original concept for the CERVO Mountain Boutique Resort was inherited by Daniel F. Lauber.

The charm of the Alps and the style of the hunting lodges were to be incorporated into the design in a modern way. A combination of rough, natural materials and elegant elements should present a mix of simplicity and exclusivity.

CERVO has remained true to this style in the extensions that followed in the years to come. In 2013 and 2014 chalet number six and the new restaurant Ferdinand were added. The location above the village, the view of the Matterhorn: Some things have changed but a lot has stayed the same.

At CERVO the whole world meets, you eat together, you drink together, you have fun together, and yet you can easily find peace and quiet in the individual lodges. Those who come to CERVO value personal service and high quality, then and now.

BEYOND EXPLORING
At the end of 2020, the CERVO Mountain Resort is expanding its services to include a seventh lodge, a third restaurant and the exclusive Mountain Ashram Spa, which will replace the small spas previously located in the individual lodges.

The concept evolves with time and the hunter becomes an explorer and gatherer. At CERVO, the philosophy moves on: BEYOND EXPLORING is the new guiding principle. BEYOND SUSTAINABILITY and BEYOND CULTURE complete the concept.

CERVO FAMILY
The CERVO Mountain Resort is an awareness of life. Our team is a family and that’s how we work with each other.

Sometimes it’s chaotic, sometimes it gets loud, sometimes we’re quiet but we always put our heart and soul into it. T he values self-responsibility, sustainability, mindfulness, respect and team spirit accompany us in our daily work and shape our actions.

ZERMATT UNPLUGGED
CERVO and Zermatt Unplugged share a long-standing love story. The common passion for the the mountains in combination with the unplugged music looks back on many successful years.

HOW EVERYTHING STARTED
Simultaneously with the birth of CERVO in 2010, the collaboration with Zermatt Unplugged was born. In 2010 Richard Baker was the first musician who played on the terrace of CERVO during the festival. With about 50 people it was a small but beautiful concert in a stunning scenery.

In the following years, the festival grew and with it the size of the concerts. At times up to 1000 people were spread out on the terraces of the CERVO and danced at the foot of the Matterhorn to the legendary concerts of Zermatt Unplugged. During the festival week 5 concerts took place on the CERVO terrace plus special show cases.

For many years, CERVO has also looked after the entire food & beverage section of the festival. And in 2016, the CERVO mobile drove from Zermatt to Zurich as part of the festival promo with the Swiss TV program “Glanz & Gloria”.

HIGHLIGHTS
A highlight was certainly 2013 the concert of the Swiss band Hecht. Due to the fantastic concert, the band then also visited CERVO in 2019 for the 10th anniversary of the mountain resort.

Pablo Nouvelle offered 2014 another concert highlight. A guest wanted an encore and finally booked Pablo again for a whole set. So he played almost three hours non-stop!

A special show case of excellence took place 2018 with James Walsh. The plan was a short concert of 40 minutes for the Friends of Zermatt Unplugged. But since many après ski musicians from CERVO were also there, the whole thing developed into a jam session, which lasted until 4 o’clock in the morning.

Not to forget the Chalet Ferdinand, which was already nine months before the actual opening of the restaurant for the first time for the Unplugged Festival in action. The unofficial parties on the Monday before the festival have reached a legendary status.

FONDUE GONDOLA
Anyone who has ever been to Zermatt Unplugged knows it: The old Stockhorn gondola, which served as a bar in the middle of the festival area! Currently it stands next to the Restaurant Ferdinand and received a second (or third) life as a fondue gondola. Four people can enjoy fondue fun in an exclusive atmosphere.

SUSTAINABILITY
Being based in a mountain region like Zermatt requires a close exchange with nature. The CERVO is dedicated to a type of travel that is close to nature, authentic and conscious. Sustainability is the central factor underlying all decisions. On a large scale as well as on a small scale.

PHILOSOPHY
As part of the tourism in the Alpine region and in harmony with the nature of Zermatt, all our actions are based on a strong environmental awareness. Since the CERVO was founded in 2009, ecological and social responsibility has been a central principle.

The ethical treatment of people and the environment is part of all processes and permeates all areas: A sustainable energy supply and the natural production of hot water and heating energy are just as much a part of this as the commitment to various projects at local and international level.

CERVO is the manifestation of a mindful awareness of life, which is carried out every day through interaction with visitors, employees and, in the long term, in projects around the world.

The vision of an awareness of a life is also reflected in the core principles of the CERVO mission:

  • CERVO creates a gathering point for pleasure, inspiration and relaxation.
  • CERVO is committed to regenerative use of resources and a holistic employee culture.
  • CERVO signifies cordiality and high quality.

Thanks to the holistic sustainable commitment, CERVO was classified by hotelleriesuisse with the “Sustainable Living” category.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Sustainability not only involves the conscious handling of nature but also the thoughtful interactions with each other and the careful dealing with objects and installations. Therefore we have partnered up with several labels and organizations to become a better version of ourselves.

MYCLIMATE
For several projects in the area of climate protection we work together with myClimate. Among other things our guests can book a CO2 compensated stay. Each contribution of our guests gets doubled by CERVO.

IBEX FAIRSTAY
To become fully involved in the process of all-round sustainability we have become certified with the ibex fairstay label and we keep up our effort to become even better.

GREEN PEARLS
True to the motto “Do good and talk about it”, we have joined Green Pearls. Green Pearls® Unique Places is the leading data source for sustainable places worldwide. We were critically reviewed and selected based on our sustainable expertise and green projects.

SLOWFOOD
With the organization SlowFood, we raise awareness for good, regional food. In addition, the commitment to the community and the environment is central. Our headchef Markus Kössler is part of the alliance of the chefs of SlowFood.

MITMÄNSCH
The foundation and institution MitMänsch Oberwallis provides a wide range of regional services for people with disabilities, which we support with our old candle remains.

LOCAL ENGAGEMENT
No hotel is an island. Being anchored in Zermatt and the alpine region comes with a social and ecological responsibility. CERVO takes this into account by focusing on the local.

PARTNERS & SUPPLIERS
The mostly long-term cooperations with our suppliers and partners are based on the relationship of trust that arises from direct, personal exchange. We have known our partners and suppliers for years. Their social or ecological commitment leaves a positive impact on the environment.

ZERMATT COMMUNITY
Community is what makes the CERVO special and the connection to the community in Zermatt is important to us.

In addition to supporting local initiatives, we also set up our own projects: once a month a soup table and regularly a vegetable market take place, as well as our annual Sustainability Day. In this way we bring CERVO’s nature-oriented way of thinking to the people and get in touch with those who share this spirit.

LEISURE
By sponsoring local sports clubs, we support local youth work and the promotion of healthy leisure activities. In addition, we underline our own philosophy with our commitment. Especially in our small mountain paradise it is true: Go out and live!

ENERGY CONCEPT
If you look at it closely, ‘sustainable’ does not go far enough. Regenerative energy use draws on sources that are not exhausted. The CERVO counts on them. Almost 95% of CERVO’s energy requirements are covered by geothermal energy.

For the remaining 5% natural gas is used and in the next few years the switch to biogas is planned – and it will be expanded even further. The long-term goal is to achieve a 100% CO2 neutral energy production for heating and hot water.

All waste heat is already being reused in hotel operations. By merging the hotel’s sewerage system, we achieve an efficient waste water heat recovery. The waste heat of the commercial refrigeration is directly used for hot water preparation. The heat recovery of thermal energy and a comprehensive water management system conserve resources.

With drillings in the entire resort, earth probes could be laid, which serve as energy sources, energy storage and to increase efficiency. As a further energy source, solar energy is captured with collectors on the balconies of the new lodge VI. This energy is fed exclusively into the geothermal probes to increase efficiency.

To save heating energy, a demand-dependent ventilation system was installed in the new Lodge VI. Air pollution is measured and then only so much ventilation is provided that fresh air is always available.

The guests can also make their contribution to the efficient use and saving of energy. The hotel rooms are like at home: Don’t let water run unnecessarily, take a shower once instead of filling a whole bathtub, and let fresh air in the room by shortly opening the window completely instead of keeping it only a little open for a long time. These things are nowadays essential in the field of energy efficiency.

SUPPLY CHAIN
Where do the things come from that are used daily? CERVO has organized its supply chains regionally in all areas or works with selected partners. Why stray into the distance? The surroundings of Zermatt have incredibly much to offer.

That is why CERVO has set itself the goal of sharing and supporting the regional characteristics with its guests. This not only ensures an authentic experience of the region, but also avoids long transport routes and the waste of resources. T

he rule of thumb is a distance of 150 kilometers from where we source our products for kitchen, equipment or services. For all products outside this framework, we have chosen sustainable companies.

Here a selection of our valued suppliers from nearby with purely regional products:

  • Honey from family Biner from Zermatt
  • Cheese and dairy products from the Horu Käserei from Zermatt and cheese shavings from the Binderalp
  • Meat from the Matterhorn butcher from Zermatt and Naturabeef from Edgar Imhoff from Raron
  • Bread from La cave à levain from Sion
  • Flour and grain products from the Altbachmühle from Wittnau
  • Grains and seeds from the Biofarm from Kleindietwill
  • Ecconomat from Walker from Brig

Sustainable use of natural resources also includes a well thought-out value chain. The CERVO environment is therefore designed as a permaculture, producing energy, food and leaning on established structures. Like a small system in a larger network.
