Our unique location on the idyllic plateau of Meransen at the bottom of the Gitschberg, between Eisacktal and Pustertal, offers an incomparable view of the surrounding mountains and the Dolomites.

You stay with us in the heart of the ski and alpine region Gitschberg Jochtal, which has all possibilities that you could want as active vacationers only. Our wellness hotel in Meransen lays on the sun terrace of the Eisacktal- one of the most sunlit resorts in South Tyrol.

Our Panorama Hotel Huberhof is located at the entrance of the village Meransen, which belongs to the municipality of Mühlbach.

Here is where the eastwards withdrawing Pustertal begins – and as nearby also the Eisack flows into, Meransen, which lays at 1,414 m above sea level, is considered the sun terrace of the Eisacktal.

If you spend your holidays in Meransen, opt namely for a place blessed by 280 days of sunshine (3,000 hours of sunshine) and thus one of the most sunlit places in South Tyrol.

HISTORY
In 1950, Maria and Franz Oberhammer are looking for a suitable place to raise their family and decide to settle at the small rural farm Huberhof in Maranza. In Maranza, the Oberhammer family becomes bigger almost every year.

Peter, the senior boss, is born as the second son of a total of 10 children. Due to the early death of his father, he takes over the work at the farm at the young age of 19 and manages the Huberhof with diligence and effort together with his mother and siblings.

In 1979, Peter meets his future wife Paula from Val di Vizze, who passionately follows her career as a racing skier. Peter realizes his dream of a small pension with a great view in 1976. Paula, whom he takes to his wife in 1980, cooks with heart and soul for the guests at the Pension Huberhof.

Her passion for cooking transfers to Jonas, the only son of Paula and Peter. As the fifth and last-born child, he handles pots and pans already in his early childhood and gradually grows into his cooking shoes.

He completes his training as a cook in his teens at the renowned hotel management school “Emma Hellenstainer” in Bressanone. After several years of practical experience in Italy and South Tyrol, Jonas today cooks in his own kitchen.

In 2001, Peter expands the Pension Huberhof into a 3-star Panorama Hotel, welcoming more guests to enjoy sunny holidays with a panoramic view – not only from the rooms, but also from the new panoramic terrace, the spa area and the panoramic dining room.

Until the year 2010, his mother Maria supports him with help and advice. She was a proud 93 years old. In 2015, a qualitative and quantitative expansion of the Panorama Hotel takes place. Jonas takes over his parents’ business and manages the new and shiny four-star hotel.

After the renovation, the Huberhof has a total of 34 rooms and suites with a dream view. Further amenities, such as the new relaxation oases and the spacious sunbathing lawn, the new spa area and the extended dining room with panoramic views are added.

Besides these aesthetic changes, we now strive in the third generation, together with a motivated and friendly team of employees, to offer our guests a great and relaxing vacation.

Today, in 2019, the Huberhof features a wide-ranging extension of our wellness oasis. The indoor and outdoor areas are being redesigned. There are now three swimming pools – a modern action pool, an indoor & outdoor pool with a panoramic sunbathing terrace, a gym, a yoga room and additional relaxation rooms.

THE OBERHAMMER FAMILY
How the story continues? Already in his training days Jonas meets a young lady, who will shape his life. Early on, Verena expresses her wish for children. As young parents of two girls, Valentina and Carolin, the two get married in 2012.

Together with the “I do”, the young family Oberhammer is complemented by two boys, Noah and Moritz. This is how the new generation of our family grows. They will bring new ideas, new energy and new services for the well-being of our guests at the Huberhof.

Not new, but in the spirit of our family tradition, is our philosophy: An authentic and sustainable lifestyle, focusing on people, reviving the ancient farm culture and striving for personal happiness with many moments of well-being for the guest and our employees.

Our total of 34 rooms, including several brand new furnished suites, offer a wide range of variants. Enjoy first-class comfort and wonderful relaxation in our snug and sunny rooms.

The suites have “children bunks” – whereby the beds of children and parents are in separate sleeping areas. As a highlight the Huberhof suite is lined with massive stone pine and in addition to the shower there is a bathtub.

With an elevator that goes to all floors, our Hotel Huberhof is wheelchair-accessible and suitable for the elderly and disabled.

Especially families with several children like to stay in the Huberhof Suite, but also couples who need plenty of space, who love the pleasant scent of stone pine in their suite. The separate bedroom for two children allows you to enjoy moments of togetherness in the parents’ room.

The Suite Huberhof are located on the sunny side of the guest house on the first, second or third floor. They offer a south facing balcony with a beautiful view of the Eisack- and Puster Valley, as well as the surrounding Dolomites, the Peitler Kofel, Geisler Spitzen, Lang- and Plattkofel, Schlern, Plose,…

Ideal conditions for larger families: Possibility for a family room with two separate bedrooms.

Room facilities include wooden oak floors, stone pine wood furniture, sitting area, balcony with seating area, wardrobe, flat screen TV with satellite TV, telephone, safe, mini fridge, bathroom with shower, toilet, bidet, mirror, cosmetic mirror, hairdryer and underfloor heating.

Furthermore, you’ll find bathrobes (for adults) and a wellness bag with slippers and sauna towels. Plus: The bathroom is additionally equipped with a tub.

SUITE DOLOMITE VIEW
The Suite Dolomitenblick is particularly popular with couples who enjoy plenty of space and appreciate a large room, but also with guests with physical disabilities, as the room is well equipped for wheelchairs.

The Suite Dolomite View are located on the sunny side of the guest house on the first floor. They offer a south facing balcony with a beautiful view of the Eisack- and Puster Valley, as well as the surrounding Dolomites.

ROOM ALPS VIEW
Solo travellers and couples who wish to actively relax and unwind during their vacation in the holiday region Maranza love this room and rave about the cosiness and the comfort in the room and the unbelievable panoramic view into the Isarco Valley.

The friendly and lightly Alps View rooms are located on the sunny side of the guest house on the first or second floor and their south facing balcony offers a marvellous Panorama view of the Eisack Valley, as well as the surrounding Dolomites.

ROOM MEADOW VIEW
The double room Wiesenblick is very popular with solo travellers, couples and families with small children, who wish to actively relax and unwind during their vacation in the holiday region Maranza and enjoy an “economy” experience in a Wiesenblick room.

The friendly and lightly Meadow View rooms all have a north-facing balcony with a view of the fields and meadows of Meransen. These rooms invite you to enjoy the romantic sunset in summer.

For example, on our breakfast buffet, you will find vitamin-rich foods, delicious cold cuts, cereals and fruit, and above all many home-made products such as fresh eggs and milk. Many farm products and ingredients come from our own farm.

The delicious breakfast honey comes directly from the beekeeper. The safe origin and the authentic taste of regional ingredients are guaranteed. Furthermore, on our breakfast buffet you will find many other homemade delicacies that will enhance your morning, such as fruity jams.

Your senior landlady lovingly cultivates an exquisite herb garden with seasonally fresh spice plants to refine all dishes, as well as crunchy vegetables such as zucchini and cucumbers – the special extra for our natural ingredients in your gourmet menu.

Already in the morning, with every bite you will feel that you are on vacation: Our rich breakfast buffet is open for you from 7:30 am to 11:00 am. Every day, our breakfast theme corner offers a variety of alternatives and additions to your breakfast table.

Start your day with our vitamin-rich smoothies, with raw vegetables and sour cream dip, with a Bavarian breakfast including pretzels, white sausages and wheat beer, with smoked salmon and Prosecco or with our fruit buffet.

Sit comfortably in the sun and strengthen yourself for a new eventful day. With this hearty meal, our Huberhof guests will enjoy a happy start in the day and their planned hike, bike ride or ski tour will be twice as good. Upon request, we will even prepare a packed lunch for you (for a fee).

VITALITY BUFFET IN THE AFTERNOON

At lunchtime, we offer á la carte dishes (surcharge) between noon and 2 pm. In the afternoon, from 2:30 pm to 5 pm, we invite you to the vitality buffet with antipasti, light soups, salads and healthy snacks. If you have just come back from a long hike or ski tour, you may reward yourself – after all, you’re on vacation!

VEGETARIAN CUISINE
More and more of our guests have chosen the vegetarian diet and want, of course, to eat well especially on vacation, renouncing to meat. This trend is growing and growing – and also here in South Tyrol there are more and more people, who give top priority to ethics and sustainability while eating.

Maybe do you feel the same way? That’s why, as a vegetarian hotel, we want to offer you delicious food, which does not lack any flavor sophistication – but misses only meat ingredients.

Our pride and joy is horse breeding – a passion that has a long tradition at the farm Huberhof. We breed Haflinger horses, which harmonize well with the alpine landscape and the climatic conditions of South Tyrol.

Besides the friendly, frugal Haflinger horses, we also keep ponies in our hotel with a farm. From May to November, your children are welcome to enjoy guided pony riding by on the playground – a great opportunity to make their first experiences in the saddle during the holidays!

MEET OUR FARM ANIMALS

It all happens in a very playful way. There are, for example, our free-range chickens, which enjoy plenty of space. As a thank you, they provide us with precious farm products, which we then process into delicious egg dishes and pasta.

A new way to experience the alpine world of South Tyrol: Get in the saddle on our friendly ponies and let them carry you through the magic of nature. Pony riding offers great fun not only for children, but for the entire family and is organised twice a week.

The alpine region Gitschberg Val Giovo offers a variety of family-friendly activities, such as Krixly Kraxly – the trial climbing course for children 5-9 years in Val Giovo; or Kletterhetz, as well as the Alpinpool Maranza or the fantastic sun park with a plethora of exciting adventure stations.

Maybe your kids feel like guided pony riding? Or want to do a rafting tour? In the surroundings of Maranza, there are also many theme hikes in the summer, such as the ‘Elfenweg’ or the ‘Milchsteig’, which are also very interesting for children.

Old castles, wild mountain streams and rock formations or other fantastic landscapes, as you may find them in our holiday region, fascinate children and parents alike. And a bike tour into the surrounding area is the perfect choice to guarantee family fun and shared experiences of lasting value.

During your carefree summer holiday at the Aktivhotel Huberhof you’ll live close to the South Tyrolean mountains. Look forward to wonderful hiking tours in the Pusteria Valley. Many of these trails are suitable also for Nordic Walking, if that’s what you care about.

Many of our guests come with their entire family and rent mountain bikes for free directly from the hotel. The area Gitschberg Val Giovo offers excellent trails.

Enjoy leisurely bike tours across the entire Pusteria Valley. The easy Pusteria Bike Route leads you over 105 km along the river Rienza to Lienz in East Tyrol. For the return trip to this beautiful bike tour, which you may also complete in stages, you could take the train. By the way, we also have a bike room for your bicycles.

Mountain lovers may enjoy alpine hikes and climbing tours, high-ropes courses, rafting or canyoning – and if you like to play tennis, go fishing or plan on horseback riding, then spend your summer holiday in Maranza.

Maybe there even will be some time for a helicopter tour or a tandem paragliding flight! However, during your active holidays you may also simply relax on our sunny lawn by the adventure playground or by the pool and admire the breath-taking panoramic views of the South Tyrolean mountains.

Meransen is a paradise for walkers. Not only the number of possible walking routes around our village is particularly great – but also the diversity of impressions which you are gifted with, left and right of the path.

Flowering meadows, scenic trails, tours to medieval churches and ancient farms, through larch forests and along gurgling mountain brooks are just a small foretaste of what awaits you on a walking holiday in Meransen.

With us on site and in the near Altfasstal you can find idyllic routes which you can walk on during your entire vacation.

In addition to educational themed trails such as the Bienenweg in Rodeneck or the Almen Kneippweg, you can hike the most beautiful views: on the plateau of Rodeneck for example, the observation deck on the Gitschberg, from which you can admire 500 mountain peaks, and to the Seefeld lakes, or with enough fitness condition on the Astjoch and in the Pfunderer mountains.

An alpine hike offers in addition to the fantastic farsightedness also repeatedly traditional huts in which you put the walking stick in the corner for a while and can feast on fresh drinks and Tyrolean specialties. By the way: You may venture out to beautiful excursions starting right from the hotel!

MOUNTAIN BIKE HOLIDAY IN SOUTH TYROL
Between Vals and Rodeneck mountain bike tours for all levels of difficulty cross the country. It goes over gently undulating hills, through fragrant forests, over meadows in fresh green and along bizarre rock formations, on whose other side rapid downhill trails are waiting for you.

ON THE PUSTER VALLEY CYCLE PATH TO LIENZ
Alternatively you discover your desire to wander and embark on the Puster valley cycle track. This leads to the East Tyrolean Puster valley and to Lienz. In the opposite direction this route ranges to Brixen, from there up to the burner or to the South to Lake Garda.

The track has almost no upgrade and leads you from one place to the extent you want. To return to Meransen, just get on the train with your bike at the next station and come back. The railway line actually runs parallel to the bike path.

During the Törggele season, this charming path from Bolzano to Bressanone is a must for every pleasure vacationer. It takes you past wineries, to picturesque Baroque buildings and continues under the canopy of mighty chestnut trees, which gave this tour the name.

Moreover, we also offer guided walks starting from the house, where you can enjoy the autumnal splendour of colour around Maranza. Easy hikes across mountain pastures such as the ‘Almhüttenrundweg’, but also tours through the Altafossa Valley or to the Seefeld Lakes are perfect in this season.

A SKI TOUR
If you wish to go even higher, idyllic ski tours are your best option – for example, to the summit of Mount Gitschberg. There, mostly off the slopes, a varied trail leads to the promising destination.

Another ski tour of medium difficulty takes you to the summit cross on the Cima Lasta. And of course, depending on the weather and avalanche situation, even more peaks around Maranza await you with alpine highlights.

WINTER HOLIDAYS IN THE DOLOMITES
Are you one of those who are only really active in winter, who cannot stay any longer indoor already by the very first snow, but draws on the ski slope, toboggan run, or the cross-country ski?

SNOWSHOEING
Some people prefer to spend the winter away from the ski slopes and would like to enjoy the silence and grandeur of the mountains on solitary tours. You can do that during your winter holiday in Maranza on many cleared hiking trails, where you may discover our beautiful snow-covered mountain landscape.

If you want to reach higher altitudes on panoramic trails and during summit tours, you will find many excellent routes for snowshoeing in the immediate vicinity.

The winter hiking trails are mostly well groomed and lead you all around Maranza, to various alpine lodges, where you may take a break, or up to the fairy-tale Fane Alm. And the Alpe di Rodengo / Luson is not only a highlight for every hiking friend in the summer but shows off its most attractive side in the winter.

ICE SKATING
A vibrant contrast program to the fun on the slopes is offered by the natural ice rinks in our ski and winter sports region. During ice skating, you may relax and have fun with the entire family. Right in the village of Valles there is a natural ice rink – and the skating rink of Rio di Pusteria is highly recommended.

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING
By cross-country skiing, you are one with nature and do a lot for your body without falling into extremes. You will glide on well-groomed trails, strengthen circulation and stamina – but always have enough leisure, admiring the surrounding mountains.

So cross-country skiing in Meransen is an ideal balance to the hustle and bustle, at the same time a beautiful sport to dive deep into our untouched countryside.

You can have a drink on your ski trip at any time in one of the rustic cabins along the way, to strengthen, enjoy a hot drink and break out again in the snow paradise.

THE RODENECKER-LÜSNER-ALP TRAIL
The Rodeneck Alp is also very attractive for cross-country skiers. You should definitely mark the local Alp trail at 1,930 m. It begins at the Zumis parking area and leads you over 15 kilometers on a panoramic tour, whose beauty will impress you with unforgettable memories.

Also it is ideal for families and presents no special challenges. And once you have pleasantly cross-country skied these trails in Meransen, in Eisack valley many more are waiting for you with a total length of 240 km – and really each of them has its own charm!

SKIING IN GITSCHBERG-JOCHTAL
Snow-covered treetops, peak hours with impressive panoramic view, a bright blue sky and South Tyrolean mountains white sprinkled with powdered sugar! So it’s how a normal winter day in sunny Meransen starts, this place has got an average of over 3000 hours of sunshine a year.

If you want to spend your ski holiday with us, you can feel like being in paradise: Just 1 km away from the Panorama Hotel Huberhof is the Meransner Hausberg Gitsch with its wide slopes and groomed slopes.

SLOPES OF ALL HUES
Our winter sports area starts right at the doorstep at Gitsch at an altitude between 1400-2500 meters above Meransen. The slopes there are suitable for both beginners and advanced skiers.

Families have the same fun as anyone who wants to master our black run Sergerweise. No wonder that we accommodate always prominent guests in Meransen who want to try their superior skills in the ski resort Gitschberg Jochtal.

From early December to Easter, the ski area Gitschberg / Val Giovo offers pure fun on the slopes. For beginners, there are 18.5 kilometres of easy slopes. For the advanced skiers, 27.2 kilometres of red slopes. And for experienced skiers, the ski region even offers 9.3 kilometres of black slopes.

SKI SCHOOL
Are you looking for professional ski instructors for yourself or your children? Or a place where your kids are in good hands while you’re racing down the slopes? Here, you may find your offers for your individual learning needs in the immediate vicinity.

The specialized children’s ski school Gitschberg features gold, silver and bronze awards, which are given only to ski schools that offer, for example, professional childcare in a ski kindergarten, lunch or a final race with award ceremony.

Especially in winter families find what they are looking for here. Gitschberg-Jochtal is regarded as one of the most family-friendly ski resorts in Italy. FAMILY TOBOGGANING
Racing down the valley on a fast track? That’s not only fun for children – but also for parents are enthusiastic tobogganers. Tobogganing in Maranza is a great experience for the entire family. We have 6 natural toboggan runs in the village and in the immediate vicinity.

To make it even more convenient, you may rent a toboggan right on the slopes and leave it there after the ride down. This allows you to fully dive into the fun of tobogganing.

Tobogganing in Maranza is best done on the new natural toboggan run Brimi-Winter-Run, which leads from the mountain station Gitschberg Nesselhütte down to Maranza. With 6.75 km, it is one of the longest toboggan runs in South Tyrol.

There are two sections: From the Nesselhütte to the middle station of the Nesselbahn and from there to Maranza.

Furthermore, there is an artificial ice sledding course suitable for beginners and professionals right next to our tennis hall, which is even used by the national toboggan team as a training station. You certainly won’t be bored if you are looking for the ultimate tobogganing experience.

CHRISTMAS MARKETS
Bright children’s eyes, the smell of roasted almonds and freshly baked biscuits, hot steaming Glühwein and many festively decorated stalls turn a visit to one of our Christmas markets into the romantic highlight of the Advent holidays in South Tyrol.

Christmas carols and festive songs are in the air. In the streets there is a hustle and bustle, where you can experience the soul of South Tyrol.

CHRISTKINDLMARKT IN BRIXEN
The nearest and most beautiful Christmas market is the Christkindlmarkt in Brixen. In the solemn atmosphere of the cathedral square traditional wooden houses are built, which are spanned by many lights.

At the same time an exhibition of nativity scenes will be held in the Bishop’s Palace. The Christmas market will be accompanied by numerous events and Christmas concerts – a must in every Advent holiday in South Tyrol!
