Northern Colorado’s historic Rawah Guest Ranch is an authentic western dude ranch located in one of the most scenic and unspoiled valleys in North America.

Experience thrilling Colorado fly fishing casting for trout on our private stretch of the Big Laramie River; bring out your inner cowboy on a back-country horseback ride along alpine ridges or through groves of aspen; relax on a spectacular hike along our 15+ trails through the surrounding Rawah Wilderness Area; or, simply kick back in a rocking chair on the front porch or curl up by a crackling fire in the rustic Rawah Lodge.

To the mountain tribe of Ute Indians, Rawah was the word for “abundance.” Resting at 8,400 feet just south of the Colorado-Wyoming border, Rawah Ranch occupies a beautiful spot in the still practically undiscovered Laramie River Valley.

The railroad companies set our ranch legacy in motion when President Theodore Roosevelt signed the deed of trust for the land Rawah Ranch occupies as part of a land acquisition. Soon after, our valley was added to what would eventually become the Roosevelt National Forest.

With the passage of the Wilderness Act in 1964, our Rawah Wilderness Area was preserved indefinitely. Earlier – in 1948 – a man by the name of Ralph Jordan had the great foresight to establish Rawah Ranch, not as a cattle ranch, but as a place for guests to simply visit – to stay in comfortable accommodations, enjoy hearty meals, and take in the beauty of the surrounding wilderness.

Today, Rawah Ranch seeks to capture the same original vision by welcoming guests from across the country and around the world to our historic mountain escape. We believe the ranch’s legacy continues with each new visitor that makes this place their own – we can’t wait to welcome you home to Rawah.

MEET RON & LUCIA
There’s something almost magical about untouched woodlands, something that can be very difficult to find in most developed parts of the world these days. Still, some patches of natural beauty still exist. Rawah Ranch is one such place, and it was something both Ron and Lucia Hatfield hoped to preserve.

They’ve always been clear that they view themselves as custodians of the wilderness, here to help maintain and protect it so that it will always be available for generations down the line. Their passion and commitment to the wilderness the ranch resides upon is what drives them to ensure that everyone who visits walks away satisfied with being there.

Running the luxury guest ranch is their way of sharing the land they’ve come to love with guests from around the world. It’s their wish that by building a cozy spot to host folk in comfort, they will get a chance to experience for themselves everything from the river that cuts through the ranch to the peaks of the mountains that overlook the whole of the valley.

At Rawah Ranch, one of the things we do best is food—and returning guests will tell you it’s undoubtedly a highlight of their stays. Those with dietary restrictions don’t have to worry.

With some advance notice, we can accommodate nearly anything. We prepare all our Colorado Ranch Cuisine in-house, from scratch, every day and, when possible, use ingredients from our small garden. Our talented chef and kitchen staff take pride in crafting exceptional meals that satisfy and delight.

THE BREAKFAST
Each morning our main lodge is turned into a delightful breakfast cafe. Breakfast is run restaurant style – Order anything from our menu and enjoy as much food as you’d like!

With everything from fresh fruit, yogurt, and homemade granola, to pancakes, waffles, and eggs. We are sure to have something you’ll love, not to mention freshly baked pastries served with coffee or tea each morning.

If you don’t see it on the menu, ask! Our chef is happy to accommodate special diets as much as possible with advance notice! After all, you’ll certainly not set out for your day of adventures hungry!

THE LUNCH
After mornings spent in the saddle or wading through our waters, breathing in the refreshing mountain air, you’ll come home to a buffet-style lunch.

Here we serve different hot entrees daily, such as delicious soups and salads, homemade pizza, beef and turkey burgers on the grill, or pasta with homemade sauces. Our “Colorado Mountain” inspired cuisine will leave you waiting anxiously for the next meal. BBQ ribs cooking on an outdoor chef’s grill

After relaxing for a few hours after your day on the ranch, the dinner bell will ring in our cocktail hour, where carefully crafted appetizers and specialty cocktails are served in our lodges’ living room and bar area before dinner.

After, all our guests will be invited to our family-style dining room, where you can expect to be treated to a meal with all the charms of a fine restaurant yet none of the pretensions. Our chefs strive to create creative, satisfying, wholesome, and elegant dishes using the finest ingredients, sustainably and locally sourced whenever possible.

We believe food is meant to nourish the body and the soul— a cherished element of every culture and a universal language with the power to turn strangers into family and fast friends across the table. It’s here that all the stories and adventures of the day are shared, and memories continue to be made. We can’t wait to welcome you home to Rawah.
