The purest mountain that surrounds us and enchants us at every awakening. The bold and engaging geometries for which we longed to rethink our home. Hospitality, a family legacy. Three dimensions, three ways of being, three inspirations. Here at the Schgaguler, all this dialogues harmoniously in our personal triangulation of nature, architecture and humanity.

An intense white and the architectural peaks designed by architect Peter Pichler are the first to greet you. Then come the crystalline transparency of the high windows, which allow the eye to wander off and come back as it pleases. Finally, the natural colours of the outside world, reverberating with life in the essential design of the interiors.

There is so much to explore around here. There is so much to discover in here. The doors to our cosmopolitan retreat overlooking the Dolomites are open for you. You are here, at last. Come in, we have been waiting for you.

Crystal-clear light bursts in through the large windows. Wood is coloured by a thousand shades. The bathtub is ready to be filled. Duvets are plush. Furnishings are delicately and invitingly calming. Walls are immaculate. Make yourself comfortable in the rooms we have prepared for you. Simple, essential and restful, just like the mountain life you are about to enjoy.

At the Schgaguler, the jagged spires of the Dolomites show themselves, inside and out, in all their splendour. High glass windows designed by architect Peter Pichler. Acrobatic images by our Martin, leading your way along the corridors. Woods relive with pathos, in the aromatic local wood of the contemporary furnishings and in the deep green loden of our armchairs.

In front of the fireplace at the bar. On a lounger in the Wellness & Spa area. At a table in our restaurant. Every room here is designed for you to take part in the uninterrupted dialogue between nature and architecture, mountains and design, the freedom of the landscape and the intimacy of the home. For every moment of your stay, out there or in here, is precious.

TOWN SUITE
The two bedrooms of the 80m² Suite are self-standing. The master bedroom features a bathtub by the window. The 13-metre-long window offers an endless view onto the old town of Castelrotto.

All the furniture in this suite is custom made in local chestnut wood by artisans. All design fittings and furnishings have been selected with care to accrue the comfort and the hospitality of the environment, characterised by the same contemporary mountain style that distinguishes our whole hotel.

In the suite are also a free-standing bathtub, pocket springs mattresses, a chaise longue, a Samsung Smart TV, frameless windows, sun blinds, air conditioning, a hair dryer, sauna and steam bath towels, bathroom towels, bathrobes, bathroom slippers, a Wi-Fi connection and a safe.

GABLE SUITE
On the first floor of the suite is a large and bright bedroom-cum-wardrobe fitted with a private bar, a gorgeous free-standing bathtub and a rain shower. On the second floor are two single beds and a relaxing living area facing the Dolomites, framed by a five-metre-tall front window.

All the furniture in this suite is custom made in local chestnut wood by artisans. The flooring on the first floor is made from synthetic resin, whereas the one on the second floor is in chestnut wood.

GARDEN ROOM
The 36 m² ground floor room is provided with a big and essential living area, where a third or fourth bed can be added as needed. Made from local pinewood, the private terrace provides direct access to the garden and is a nice meeting point for indoor and outdoor areas.

DINING
Large windows broaden the horizon, lights are intimate and soft, tablecloths are white, walls smell of wood, furnishings and private nooks are only just waiting for you to take a seat: this is the environment we have created for you in our restaurant. Crockery gleams, cutlery clinks, glasses are raised. The delicious aroma of our courses fills the space, at last. Come on in, take a seat.

Reinvented traditional alpine recipes. Simple flavours that enhance every ingredient. Pairings with excellent local wines. At our table you will discover, rediscover and savour the most intense flavours of our land, where cultures and cuisine meet.

Our chef carefully selects top-quality local produce and transforms them every day into genuine and surprising meals. Our bond with local growers allows us to concoct ever-new flavours for you. The very best of seasonal firstlings.

Simply, straightforwardly, informally: this is how we welcome you to our restaurant. As befits the purity of a mountain holiday, here you will find your corner of peace and quiet.

You will be able to enjoy your meals surrounded by friends or in the solitary contemplation of nature. We shall never disturb you. Rather, we will accommodate your requests and make your experience even more delicious.

THE WINE LIST
South Tyrol tells beautiful stories of lush vineyards, crisp grapes and painstaking viticulture. We have selected several excellent local wines for you to enjoy the intense flavour of our land. The small distillery of the Plun farm, located at the feet of the Alpe di Siusi, produces fragrant and unexpected grappa. An enrichment to our already fulfilling and varied bar menu.

THE BAR
The view opens up through the glass windows. The soft loden of the armchairs gathers around the tables. The natural stone of the bar is reflected in the rocks. The lit fireplace lights up the atmosphere. The bar is our favourite place to sip a drink or herbal tea. To meet, to leaf through a magazine or simply to look out into the silence of the mountains.

Aromatic blends of organic and Fairtrade coffee stained by the best South Tyrolean alpine milk. This is the good morning or the break we wish for you. At all times, the call of cupped nectar shall be answered.

THE SPA
The larger pool awaits the strokes of the most experienced swimmers. The smaller pool warmly awaits those longing for peace and quiet with its massages. The Jacuzzi on the terrace is pure pleasure, especially in wintery Castelrotto. Loungers are comfortable. Lounging rooms are quiet, warm and peaceful.

Our Beauty staff is always available for revitalising treatments. Saunas are open and the gym is fully equipped. Any time of the day, our Wellness & Spa area is the right place to tend to your wellbeing and regain new energy. Sheer lung power to breathe in the fresh air. Lighter limbs. The body is reborn.

THE SUNDECK
The first sun peeking out in springtime. Heat at its peak in the summer. Clear mountain air flowing. Eyes on the Sciliar. Whether you are lying on a sun bed, protected by a parasol, or relaxing in the whirlpool, our terrace is the perfect place to breathe in the Dolomites.

THE SWIMMING POOL
Many possibilities, one goal: to fully enjoy the infinite pleasures of water. Indoors, those who love to relax will find a 14-meter-long pool heated to a pleasant temperature, where to unwind, stroke after stroke.

A healthy and energetic counter-current stream will add to the unique experience. Those who prefer peace and quiet can dive into the nestled, warm and enveloping pool with massage jets. Outdoors, the panoramic Jacuzzi is accessible from the wellness area and the hotel bar alike. The perfect place for refreshing dives with a view on the Dolomites.

THE MASSAGES
The Dolomites are a source of inspiration, even when it comes to the care of the body. Our massages make you feel good, also because of the cosmetics we employ, made entirely from mountain products.

THE TERRACE WITH WHIRLPOOL
The sunshine up here is extraordinary all year-round. We recommend that you take a seat on our scenic terrace made from local pine wood. For we do not want you to miss out even on a single ray of sunshine.

THE GYM
You should never renounce working out, even on vacation. In our gym, you will find a wide range of equipment to keep you fit and train your strength and endurance.

THE FINNISH SAUNA
Kelo wood, made from the ancient trunks of Arctic spruces, is the result of decades of natural dehydration, caused by the dry climate of Finnish forests. This is the extraordinary material that enshrines our original Kelo sauna.

Its high temperature (80-85°C) and low humidity make it extremely pleasant, stimulating for the circulation and well tolerated by the body. For deep cleansing sessions.

THE BIO SAUNA
Natural aromas have an immediate relaxing, soothing and purifying effect. The intensity of the temperature, combined with the benefits of mountain herbs, stimulates the metabolism and eliminates excess fluids and toxins, promoting cell renewal and strengthening the immune system.

A special selection of dried herbs and hay from the local Kräuterhof Pfleger farm makes our Bio Sauna a genuine wellness experience for body and mind.

THE TURKISH BATH
The moderate temperature combined with high humidity relaxes the muscles and has an immediate beneficial effect on blood circulation and breathing. The addition of precious essential oils of natural origin has relaxing and regenerating effects: stress is reduced, the skin is deeply purified, and the body is cleansed. Toxins and free radicals are purged.

THE ICE ROOM
Benefits come from the cold as much as from the warm. “Broken ice” cools one down between sauna sessions. The contact of the body with the ice stimulates blood circulation and gives new energy and vitality.

THE MELMARIUM
Mud baths provide relaxing treatments for the skin and the body. The combined effect of heat, infrared and steam favours the complete absorption of active ingredients by the skin.

SUNRISE IN THE DOLOMITES
On this tour you will feel the icy mountain air drawing across your face even in high summer. Watch the frosty alpine pastures thaw and the morning fog creep through the forests. On the sunrise hike on the Seiser Alm, you will experience nature in its purest form. In summer, the sunrise hike takes place once a week and is led by Gottfried Schgaguler.

TORGGELEN
Törggelen is one of the nicest traditions in South Tyrol. In October, the mountain farms open their doors to guests. In the medieval rooms of the farm, you are served traditional South Tyrolean dishes.

The ingredients used in the preparation are sourced exclusively from the farm. This experience can be combined with a hike through the autumn forests on the Schlern Plateau to the farm. The Törggelen hike led by Gottfried Schgaguler runs from 20 September to 31 October.

BIKING
History has been written and legends made on the Dolomite passes. Traverse the passes through which icons such as Pantani, Coppi and Nibali are cheered on by the tifosi every year. The Sella Pass and Gardena Pass are in easy reach of the Schgaguler.

HIKING
On the Seiser Alm you can scale the Dolomites even with easy hikes. Climb over the Denti di Terrarossa to the Rifugio Alpe Di Tires. From between the rocks of the Schlern massif, enjoy the breath-taking views onto the Seiser Alm and the surrounding mountains.

For this high-alpine hiking experience, you will hike (approx. 2 hours) though the alpine pastures and mountain trails. We offer this and similar hikes weekly, led by Gottfried Schgaguler.

LAKE OF ANTERMOIA
On the hike to the Lake of Antermoia, you will hike through valleys and cross mountain passes. You will be rewarded with fantastic views and unique passages under the rock faces of the Dolomites.

On this hike, you experience the true size of the mountains and the beauty of the bizarre summit. A refreshing bathe in the Lake of Antermoia crowns off this hike and makes for an unforgettable experience.

SKI AREAS
The Schgaguler is situated in the skiing area Alpe di Siusi and in the immediate vicinity of the skiing area of Val Gardena. Three to four times a week Gottfried Schgaguler accompanies our guests on skis through the Dolomites.

GUIDED SKI SAFARIS
Three to four times a week our guests are accompanied by Gottfried Schgaguler on various ski safaris. We adapt the program of excursions to the wishes of our guests.

Among the organized ski safaris are the Sella Ronda and the mountain hunter’s round which cross the whole Dolomite area. On the various excursions you will be taken to the most beautiful and best ski huts to stop for refreshments. The retreat becomes a culinary experience.

ALPE DI SIUSI
The skiing area Alpe di Siusi can be reached from the hotel in only five minutes driving time. The ski bus, which starts in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, departs every 10 minutes to the lifts of the Alpe di Siusi. Characterized by the slightly flatter slopes, the sunny location and the extensive culinary offer the Seiser Alm is the ideal skiing area for families and pleasure skiers.

The Alpe di Siusi ski area also enjoys a legendary reputation among freestyle fans: the Alpe di Siusi Snowpark is one of the best snow parks in Italy and offers 1. 5 kilometers of variety for beginners and professionals.

VAL GARDENA
The ski area Val Gardena relates to the Alpe di Siusi and therefore easily accessible from the hotel. This ski area is characterized by its steeper slopes and is therefore the ideal destination for experienced skiers. Together, the two ski resorts have over 80 mountain railways and 175 km of slopes for every level of difficulty.

SKI SCHOOLS
The professional ski schools on the Alpe di Siusi offer daily group and individual courses for beginners and advanced skiers. There is also a wide range of courses for children. We will be happy to help you organize your courses and take them over for you.

WINTER HIKING
The snow-covered expanses of the Alpe di Siusi provide the perfect setting for unique winter hikes. Numerous groomed paths and marked snowshoe trails lead below the Dolomites to breathtaking and often hidden places.

The excellent marking of the trails on the Alpe di Siusi also makes it possible to set off on individual hikes without accompaniment. In our immediate vicinity are winter hiking trails for all levels of difficulty, including some family-friendly.

On the Alpe di Siusi there are a total of 60 km of groomed winter hiking trails for which no snowshoes are required and 50 km of marked snowshoe trails. We are happy to advise you in choosing the right route for you. Snowshoes are provided free of charge to our guests during their stay.

Families with children of adolescent age can easily walk most of the marked snowshoe hikes. For families with small children there are 80km groomed winter hiking trails which can be committed with the stroller. Special experiences for families are those hiking trails, which end after stopping in a mountain hut with the sled run on groomed sled slopes into the valley.

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING
On the Alpe di Siusi, 80 km of groomed trails of varying degrees of difficulty pass through the unique mountain landscape of the Dolomites. The cross-country skiing area Alpe di Siusi is connected to the cross-country ski network of Val Gardena by a 7.5 km long trail.

Both are therefore part of the cross-country carousel Dolomiti Nordicski, which is the largest cross-country ski area in Europe with 1,300 km of trails. All trails on the Seiser Alm are groomed three or four times and prepared for skating. Overall, the Alpe di Siusi has 11 trails and three connecting trails.

In addition to the trails on the Alpe di Siusi, there is a 3 km long trail directly in Castelrotto. This leads above the village over the snowy meadows towards San Valentino. This is especially suitable for shorter training sessions.

Various courses are offered on the Alpe di Siusi for beginners and advanced skiers. It is possible to participate in group courses lasting several days or to take individual lessons with a teacher. Lessons take place on the cross-country ski runs of the Alpe di Siusi.

Once a year the Moonlight Classic, a nocturnal cross-country ski race, takes place on the Seiser Alm. For the participants there are two alternatives to choose from, the challenging 30km long course or the slightly easier 15km long course.

SKI MOUNTAINEERING
Considering the respective avalanche situation, it is possible to undertake ski tours on the Alpe di Siusi and in the entire Dolomite region. In the ski area Val Gardena – Alpe di Siusi there is a large selection of tours with different levels of difficulty available.

The crowning glory of all tours begins in Saltria on the Seiser Alm with the ascent up to the 2964m high Sasso Piatto, whose steep but even flank represents a challenge for every ski tourer.

In the neighboring Val Gardena, you can go around the Sella massif during a six-hour ski tour on the Sella Ronda. This particularly demanding ski tour experience includes a total of 26 km of ski runs.

SELLARONDA
Go around the Sella massif on skis and traverse the Ladin valleys of the Dolomites. Enjoy the breath-taking views and the perfectly prepared slopes. The Sella Ronda tour is offered once a week led by Gottfried Schgaguler as part of our ski and hiking tours programme.

MOUNTAIN INFANTRY CIRCUIT
On this tour you will make it all the way to Veneto on skis and in doing so traverse the whole area of the Dolomites. The highlights of this tour are the Falzarego Pass, the Cinque Torri and Cortina. On this circuit you will experience the Dolomites in all their glory. This ski tour is offered once a week and is led by Gottfried Schgaguler.

SNOWSHOEING
Experience physical exertion and the complete stillness of nature. Hike over the snow-covered alpine pastures, through snow-topped pinewood forests and discover untouched areas. This hike is on offer once a week and is led by Gottfried Schgaguler.

SOUTH TYROL CHRISTMAS MARKET
Discover the local craftsmanship and traditions at the Christmas markets in South Tyrol. In addition to the big, well-known markets, such as Bolzano, Merano and Bressanone, there are small Christmas markets in the small mountain villages, such as Kastelruth. You can expect to find masterpieces made by local craftsmen and South Tyrolean specialities on the stands of these idyllic markets.
