The Schlosshotel Chastè is a charming Engadine house with modern comfort in a very quiet and sunny location. During 500 years enchanted by the Castle of Tarasp – evolution and tradition of a farmhouse. The transformation of the farm into a hotel started in 1912 by installing a modest inn and grocery store during the restoration of the castle.
In 75 years the hotel established its international reputation for its syntheses of nostalgic ambiance, exquisite courtesy and top-level cuisine in paradisiacal environment. Noblesse oblige: four stars since 1985 and our distinctions in respect of our guests and history.
After an active day outside our guests can relax in our comfortable Swiss pine rooms or in the wellness area with different saunas, a steam bath or whilst enjoying a massage. At the end of the day, our master chef Andreas Heidenreich will pamper you with a delicious meal made out of products from the region.
Castle Suite
Our castle suite has two rooms. The living area is separated by a connecting door to the cozy Swiss pine wood room. The bathroom is equipped with shower, bath and a separate toilet closomat. The castle suite does not have any private terrace, but a unique view of the historic castle Tarasp on the village square and the Southern Alps .
Panorama Suite
Our Panorama Suite< provides our guests with their size literally, a second home. It has a very large living room with fireplace, flat screen TV, several seating areas and a balcony overlooking the castle Tarasp, two double bedrooms with walk-in closet and two bathrooms with shower and bathtub. It is ideal for a family.

Schlosshotel Chastè
A PORTRAIT
The Schlosshotel Chasté, situated under the Tarasp Castle, originally used to be a farm. It has belonged to the Pazeller family for more than 500 years, i. e. 21 generations.
It took several stages to complete the transformation from a farmhouse to a modern, luxurious hotel. During that transformation, it didn’t lose the charm of a traditional Engadin house; it still manages to offer high standards of comfort and luxury.
These were the infrastructural requirements to turn the small restaurant, opened in 1912, into a refuge for todays guests from all over the world. You can feel the spirit of broad-minded hosts in the rooms, as well as an untiring consent to our guests’ highest expectations and desires.
My wife, Daniela, and I are a good hotelier team, completing each other perfectly. Everything we do is done with a great dedication and with very much love.
We do our best “in our natural and informal way” so that our guests feel at home while staying at the Schlosshotel Chastè. We do our best to pamper them with luxurious rooms, our pleasant bathing facilities, exquisite meals and a grand wine cellar.
The natural beauties you can admire, just by one step outdoor, makes our hotel a small paradise – for such people who like to enjoy an environment presenting itself in its genuine appearance.

It is never boring in and around our house. There are a lot of things to discover in the beautiful Lower Engadine.
Starting with the visit of the castle Tarasp to smaller and bigger hiking tours in the summer and ski and snowboard experiences on long slopes in winter. After all the activities, we offer you some relaxing hours in our SPA area. Enjoy it!
