The history of Villa Eden began in 1982, when Angelika’s father, Karl Schmid, had the vision of transforming an elegant private villa in the wonderful setting of Merano into the first Italian “Beauty Farm”. The subsequent participation of Henri Chenot in the project confirmed the success of the innovative concept.

Since 1993, Angelika has been carrying out the development of Villa Eden, transforming it into one of the most exclusive Retreat Hotels in the world. Faithful to our “from the earth to the plate” philosophy, we source food directly from our own garden or from expert local growers. THE WINE ESTATE
The Castello Rametz wine estate, owned by our family for generations, is located a few steps from Villa Eden, near the famous botanical garden of Merano. Its privileged position means that the cultivation of Guyot grapes ripen with outstanding quality. We further enhance their characteristics during the winemaking process that takes place directly on the farm.

Our historic cellar is undoubtedly the most evocative in all of Merano. With its oak barrels and built entirely of stone, it is a remarkable example of historical architecture. Inside, you can step into a magical and romantic atmosphere.

In the Wine Museum, you can view tools used in the past for viticulture. These nearly forgotten instruments have been collected and restored with loving care. We organize guided tours and wine tastings for our guests weekly. We organize guided tours for our Guests to the wine estate, historical wine cellars and museum and complimentary wine and Speck tastings.

HIKES & WALKS
From the Tappeiner walks to the Sissi path, from the Lungo Passirio walk to the Gilf Promenade, to higher altitude excursions in the Merano 2000 area: so many beautiful itineraries wind their way around Villa Eden.

CYCLING
Three cycling paths start from Merano: one towards Malles in Val Venosta, one that reaches Bolzano and one up to San Leonardo in Val Passiria. Pedal through vineyards, apple orchards and alpine natural landscapes, enjoying the view as you go.

GOLF
The 18-hole Passiria.Merano Golf Club and the 9-hole Tenuta Brandis di Lana courses are located near Villa Eden. Thanks to the mild climate, the season runs from March to December.
