THE APERITIF
When the sun degrades and the intensity of its heat fades, the whole island slowly re-emerges from the afternoon torpor and the toponyms of the territory that echo during the day in the voices of tourists, Faraglioni, Blue Grotto, Arco Naturale, Parco Augusto … I move on to names like Margarita, Negroni, Mojito, Daiquiri

The barman shakes the shaker, the picket of the ice spreads its signal like a Morse code, the sinuous and discreet lounge fades into the rhythms more suited to the aperitif, the terrace of the Mamela is soul, as every evening at seven begins the unmissable ritual that kicks off the nightlife of the Capri summer.

CAPRI
Capri is synonymous with great occasions. Whether it’s a day at the beach, or an evening of pure fun, choosing the Hotel Mamela allows you to reach any desired destination.

From the first light of dawn, Capri presents itself with a heritage that looks to the individual customer, from the lover of the beaches to that of great adventures. One thing is certain: in Capri time passes really quickly.

THE BEACH
Hotel Mamela is located a few steps from the sea. It is the trademark of the entire island, thanks to a combination of colors ranging from bright blue to emerald green. The coastal areas are the first to benefit from this beauty.

They are small beaches made up of sand and rock, reachable only after having completed some mini natural paths. An effort that will be rewarded by the look, once hit by these wonders.

THE BLUE GROTTO
There are two sides of Capri. One emerged, illuminated by the sun; and a more nuanced one, gathered in hidden and mysterious places. The Blue Grotto is part of this second group. It is one of the reasons that leads it to be one of the most popular destinations for tourists who come to the island.

In addition to the charm of the unknown, it is as if for once he was putting himself in the shoes of Emperor Tiberius, who lived in Capri for five years of his life. The Roman Empire, established by his predecessor Octavian Augustus, was in full swing.

And all this resulted in large architectural complexes still standing today. Capri is not excluded, starting with the 12 Roman villas, of which only 3 have managed to maintain their own shape: Villa Jovis, Palazzo a Mare and Villa Damecuta.

The island in this respect has always been a source of attraction. This is demonstrated by an inestimable cultural heritage, from the historical artifacts discovered over the years to those that have remained hidden from the eyes of the population.

The island, due to its limestone rock, has allowed the creation of underground caves. The surprising fact of the Blue Grotto which until the 19th century remained protected by its natural conformation. No one was aware of its existence.

Until, in 1828, August Kopisch was struck by a ray of light coming from the cave. A call that wanted to reaffirm its existence to the whole world. What distinguishes this submerged area is the bright blue color generated by the sunlight.

This phenomenon is due to the refraction effect of light, which is reflected by the water at the entrance to the cave. The result is a spectacle that the eyes will appreciate. Yet it is not only this that makes it unique.

The Blue Grotto, 60 meters long and 25 meters wide, was used by the Romans as a nymphaeum, a sanctuary dedicated to the cult of sea divinities such as Neptune.

During its discovery, some sculptures were found that portrayed the God of the sea, who for the occasion have been kept inside the Museum of the Certosa di San Giacomo. To reach the place, it will be necessary to use a rowing boat, with the support and guidance of authorized personnel.

CAPRI & HIS PEOPLE MONUMENTS
True. When one thinks of Capri, one’s first thought is all about the sea, the town’s historic square, and the beaches that touch every corner of the island. But just change your point of view, and you will see another world.

Surrounded by a nature in its own right, by a constantly changing landscape, the impression is that once you have started this long journey, it is difficult to put a stop to your curiosity.

How is it possible? One wonders in front of the Faraglioni, which rather than being large rocks resemble natural towers told in fantasy novels. The highest (Il faraglione di terra) reaches an altitude of 109 meters.

Crazy, thinking that nature was the main architect of this wonder. Yet it is there, to keep the tourists and the local population company together with the other two stacks.

The middle one, 81 meters high, is distinguished by a completely natural tunnel that crosses it along its entire 60 meters in width. In the last one, called Scopolo, lives the famous blue lizard.

This animal species is what connects this last stack with the Mount Solaro, more than 500 meters high. The area is made up of the same limestone rock that has always characterized the island, and it is here that the town of Anacapri develops.

What emerges above all is this rich vegetation, thanks to a variety of plants that envelops the landscape in colors. It is ideal for those who want to take a short excursion to discover the island, perhaps stopping at the highest point of the mountain for a photo shoot to print.

But for those who just want to grasp every nuance, there is the Anacapri – Monte Solaro chairlift that allows you to scrutinize every corner of this mountain. Over the centuries, human intervention has brought new life to the island’s cultural heritage.

Particularly popular is the area of Villa Jovis, where one of the residences of the Emperor Tiberius is located. The house has had two different functions over the years.

In addition to being his home, for a brief moment it was even the imperial seat, where Tiberius ruled for 11 years, from 26 to 37 AD Still talking about houses, in the 40s of the twentieth century it was built Villa Malaparte.

It is a pearl of modern architecture, not only because of its structure. It is the position that puts it at the center of the scene, placed in the exact border of a promontory of Capri.

An example that underlines the importance and respect for the natural landscape when it comes to building something absolutely modern. A more beautiful scene from Godard’s Contempt will be shot in that central staircase, starring Michel Piccoli and Brigitte Bardot.

CAPRI BY NIGHT
Capri never goes out. Vitality and energy also spreads towards the evening, when sunlight gives way to the moon. After a day spent on the beach, or discovering the great attractions of the area, there are many places ready to attract guests to the island, offering the best of the area’s culinary tradition and local entertainment.

So where do we start from? The Hotel Mamela, in addition to being strategic during the day, is located near the Piazzetta of Capri (Piazza Umberto I). It is the center of the aperitif, the meeting place before dinner or the big evening.

You can really indulge yourself, given the quantity and quality offered by each place. To experience a summer atmosphere surrounded by the modern buildings of the square, Small Bar, Coffee Case, Gran Caffè Vuotto and Bar Tiberio are the fantastic four of this first evening in Capri.

Going up the steps of the clock tower, near Piazza Umberto I there is the From Pulalli Wine Bar & Restaurant, where, in addition to the part dedicated to cocktails, it is possible to stop for dinner. Moving from the central square, you will find the Jacky Bar, among the most popular in the area.

To the Funicular Bar you can drink your aperitif with a full gaze on the Gulf of Naples, while at Bar Faro you can take advantage of a suggestive sunset in the company of friends, and a good drink.

After the aperitif time, the nightlife finally comes alive with the best of the entertainment offered by the island. The advice is to pass at least once heart and soul. It is considered the place par excellence of Capri.

A historic area to experience an evening with the best of live music and entertainment. The host, the artist Guido Lembo, will welcome you. If, on the other hand, the interest shifts towards discos, in Capri there is the Number One and Number Two.

Both with hearts beating for music, but with different passions. The first focuses on live music; the second focuses on dance music.

A welcoming place with a great atmosphere is here green Lantern, a historical place of Anacapri which stands out from the others for being carved out of the rock, which makes it practically unique.

The VV Club Capri it is a very popular place where you can spend a pleasant evening in the company of local and international guests.

The Qubè Cafe is a pub where you can taste excellent craft beers, while for wine lovers, the advice is everything La Capannina Wine Bar e , a restaurant that in the evening becomes an intimate and peaceful meeting place.
