The Agriturismo Terre di Baccio is situated outside the historical centre of Greve in Chianti. A slow walk through the vineyards leads directly to the town centre, the heart of the town of Greve in Chianti.

Window shopping, visiting some of the animated stalls in the open market, delighting in the aromas of true Tuscan dishes, listening to the voices of children playing or those of the elders in the local bars, drinking a glass of wine: these are the simple and genuine ingredients of a holiday made in Tuscany.

With over 18 hectares, partly cultivated with vineyards and olive groves, Terre di Baccio produces five wine labels of DOCG Chianti Classico and Typical Geographical Indication (IGT) – Colli di Toscana, Vin Santo, Grappa and extra virgin olive oil.

Typical productions, carried out with traditional methods thanks to the ancient wisdom present in these areas. Guests of the Country House will be able to experience, taste and buy all products at the source and bring them back home to their loved ones.

Terre di Baccio also grows all the vegetables and produce that are used in the restaurant’s kitchen, as well as, the Saffron of the Florentine Hills, another typical product of Chianti area. Ilaria and Giampaolo have been managing the property of Terre di Baccio since 2007, and thus have become its soul and spirit.

It is with this open and international outlook that every year they welcome thousands of people from all over the world and from many cultures. Terre di Baccio is the result of their vision, a beautiful Relais in Chianti, farmhouse and restaurant.

THE HISTORY OF A NAME
The history of Terre di Baccio is rooted in its distant past which is however still visible today thanks to the careful restoration that has preserved the original architectural features of the farmhouse.

Documents dating back to the 1500s (the “Mappa dei Capitani di Parte” of the Popolo (or parish) of S. Andrea a Monte Gonzi, Florence State Archives) identify the Farmhouse as belonging to Baccio Zati, a gentleman from an ancient and noble Florentine family.

After passing through several owners, at the end of the 20th century, the Farmhouse and its land became part of the Farm of Vitigliano, one of the most important agricultural estates of the time, extending for hundreds of hectares from Greve in Chianti to Panzano.

The current owners have decided to highlight the ancient history of this stone building by giving it new life as an intimate Relais in Chianti, recovering its original structure, and bringing its farm land back to its full productivity. In honor of its first owner they decided to name the complex Terre di Baccio.

THE STYLE
The fusion of two different styles is easily visible in all of the Relais Terre di Baccio’s environs. Here stone, terracotta, old wooden beams and other original materials of the structure coexist with objects, furniture and textiles handmade by Central American craftsmen.

This mix of materials, colors and details make each room and apartment an original and unique environment. From this embrace between cultures and the passion for the art of welcoming, springs the Relais Terre di Baccio, set in the gentle Chianti countryside.

ROOMS & SUITES
Staying in Chianti at Terre di Baccio Country House means diving into an atmosphere of total relaxation and peace. The rustic rooms and suites are furnished with fabrics, furniture and accessories entirely hand made by Guatemalan artisans.

This combination of styles, Tuscan and South American, gives each room a unique and original character making your stay in Chianti special and out of the ordinary. Guests staying in our rooms and suites will also be able to enjoy our breakfast service.

LA STALLA
Originally this space was used as a stable for the farm’s oxen, today it is one of the most comfortable rooms of our Chianti Country House. The intimate and secluded atmosphere will allow you to enjoy a fresh and regenerating ambience enriched with fabrics and furnishings characterized by tones of blue.

This room is located on the ground floor of our Farmhouse, with easy access, no stairs, and two private bathrooms (one with shower). Possibility of separating the double bed into two single beds and of preparing a single sofa bed.

LA MANGIATOIA
This room was created from one of the old stables of the villa. In fact, the head of the bed, as well as the niches containing the bedside lights, originally functioned as the animal’s manger and water hole. The room is located on the ground floor with double access from the inside and outside of the house, overlooking the Farmhouse terrace and the Puttino fountain.

The yellow color of fabrics, bedspreads and curtains make the space bright and lively. The master bedroom has an easy access, no stairs, and a private bathroom with shower. Possibility of separating the double bed into two single beds.

LA FONTE
Double room with disability access and facilities. Located on the ground floor of Farmhouse and accessed from the outside. The room’s position allows you to easily reach the breakfast room and the Farmhouse terrace where you can stop for a coffee or enjoy reading at one of our tables.

Door openings, as well as the shower and toilet facilities meet disability standards. The name of the room comes from the proximity to the Puttino fountain, located in a quiet and reserved corner of our Country House in Chianti. Possibility to separate the double bed into two single beds.

FARMHOUSE APARTMENTS
These apartments are located in the main building of our Country House. Our apartments in Chianti, equipped with every comfort and designed to assure you a relaxing and pleasant stay, will allow you to be immersed in the tranquility of the Tuscan countryside.

The crisp morning air, the scent of dew, the color of the flowers and the shy swallows’ song will frame your vacation in Chianti. The rustic Tuscan style of the apartments, combined with the Guatemalan furnishings and accessories, will give you a unique experience, where the roughness of wood and stone alternate with the softness of the South American warm colors.

THE VINEYARDS APARTMENT
This apartment is located in the hayloft attached to the Farmhouse, originally built in the 1700s and now completely restored. The structure has maintained its typical features, such as the large brick windows that once served as the ventilation system for the grain storage rooms. Today these openings give the apartment plenty of light and a privileged view of the valley of Greve in Chianti.

Antigua’s guests will find on the ground floor a large living room with fireplace, kitchen and guest bathroom, as well as a covered loggia, and a large private terrace with a table and garden. On the first floor there are two adjacent bedrooms, both with bathroom. One of them also has a terrace overlooking the vineyards.

TUSCAN IGT WINE DON PAOLO
This wine combines the Tuscan grape par excellence, the Sangiovese, with two international vines, Cabernet and Merlot, all grown locally on the farm. This wine is aged for 13/14 months in wooden barrels (barriques) and then for another 4 months in the bottle. The color, aroma, palate and its persistence make it a wine for “great occasions”.

TUSCAN WINE IGT LA POIANA
The poiana (common buzzard) is a medium size bird of pray of the Buteo-Buteo species, quite common in Italy. A pair of Poiane regularly nest in the woods of the Terre di Baccio and can often be seen soaring over the vineyards. Produced by the single-variety of merlot grapes, it is aged in wooden barrels (barriques) for 20 months followed by a refinement aging in the bottle.

SPUMANTE
Selected by our company and produced in Trentino from Chardonnay grapes, with the “Metodo Classico” (official Italian term for the Champagne method of producing sparkling wines).

GRAPPA
Grappa is distilled in the typical copper stills from the grape marc of the Chianti Classico wine grapes. The bottle ageing period of at least three months gives this product its softness.

VIN SANTO
Produced in a limited number of bottles using the traditional Tuscan method.

EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
This olive oil, which contains extraordinary organoleptic and beneficial qualities, is obtained by pressing the handpicked olives of the typical Chianti varieties: mainly “frantoio”, “moraiolo” and “leccino”.

It is preferable to taste it “raw” either dribbled on the typical slice of toasted bread (fettunta), or by dipping raw vegetables in it (fennel, celery, artichokes etc.), or seasoning field salads and drizzling it over traditional peasant soups: ribollita and pappa al pomodoro.

CHIANTI SAFFRON
The cultivation of saffron on our hills once flourished during the late Middle Ages. The flowers are handpicked early in the morning, on dry days, from the second half of October throughout November.

Then begins the most delicate stage of extracting the stigmas and their subsequent light toasting, to maintain the extraordinary characteristics of perfume and color. Great for seasoning all kinds of pasta and classic risottos, omelets and also for cakes, biscuits or to be added into ice cream for extraordinary and original recipes.
