Verno is a sanctuary where you can recharge before the next day’s explorations.

With 50 rooms, the hotel is located on the corner of Szabadság Street and October 6th Street, rooted in the heart of the city. Its central location provides quick acces to all the city has to offer and there is always something happening nearby.

THE HISTORY
In Hungary the turn of the century brought important changes: in 1873, Buda, Óbuda and Pest were united and became the buzzing city that is Budapest today. This era was vibrant and prosperous, characterized by modernization and urbanization. Due to the central location, the building was popular amongst famous artists, politicians, scientists and philanthropists of the era, who resided and bonded here.

With an increasing population a growing need for trees and promenades in Pest appeared, as sand and dust on the streets was a really serious problem at the time. Also, István Széchenyi, a prominent Hungarian politician lobbied for the creation of a promenade near the building, where there was a still quite empty square. He said that the city needed a place where people could casually meet, talk, and bond, and by consequence, can “become a nation”.

The hotel functions as an oasis within the chaos of the city, a green spot to escape to from the “dust”. Just as oases are meeting places for passing caravans, local city adventurers blend in and bond with hotel residents from afar, recharge and thus, “bloom”, exactly as Széchenyi intended 150 years ago.
