Location
If you are dreaming of an exotic and sunny break, avoiding a long journey, Senegal is the perfect destination for you. With less than 6 hour lasting flights between Europe and Dakar, short time lag (one or two hours according to the season) you’ll avoid jet lag and enjoy, as soon as landed, the country’s smooth way of life.

Senegal is situated in the westernmost part of Africa, along the Atlantic Ocean, with 700 km (435 miles) of sandy beach.

All the country is an outstanding experience with its different regions: the Small Coast (“Petite Côte”) and its sunny beaches, the charm of Saint-Louis city, the bolongs and rock island maze in Siné-Saloum delta, Tambacounda opening the way to oriental Senegal, or the sumptuous and green Casamance.

At 80km (50 miles) south from Dakar, Tama Lodge is anchored on the Small Coast (“Petite Côte”), on a sandy beach, in a greenery nest.

Rooms

The Lodge’s 9 rooms are distributed on the property, with 8 traditional cabins stood on sand, 4 of them on the waterfront, 3 in the garden, and the imposing Chief’s cabin, full- rounded with its 8m (5 feet) diameter length, its terrace facing the ocean, and its two bathrooms made of Tadelakt.

In the Malian building, the sumptuous Royal Room, with its 80 m² (50 sq feet), the bedroom and the living room open on a large terrace with a diving view on the coconut trees and the beach.

All rooms are made of traditional and natural materials : wood, daub, straw and Tadelakt. Beds are chiselled into tree trunks, curtains are sewn in kuba fabric from Congo.

The splendid Touareg camel leather and straw carpets were bought in Mauritania, the bed covers are made of Malian bogolan, the genuine lamps are made of Touareg tent sticks and antique calabashes…

The Restaurant
Tama Lodge’s bar and restaurant are now only opened to the hotel’s guests, offering a personalized and close service, in a genuine and authentic environment, exclusively.

According to deliveries, our chef offers a daily menu with a skilful combination of fresh market fruits and vegetables, fish, local meats and garden herbs. Senegalese dishes with grilled fresh fish, zebu kebabs and, of course, wonderful exotic fruits…

The Beach
The Tama Lodge is a colourful dream, dropped somewhere on one of the most beautiful beaches of the Petite Côte (Small Coast), with its shades of blue sea, coconut tree green, white sand and red African land. The hotel’s beach is a permanent spectacle living on Senegalese pace.

Peaceful, quiet and voluptuous until the end of the afternoon, just disturbed by the swinging pirogues on the sea, then, slowly awaked by the first traditional Senegalese wrestling practices, football games, and children bathing in the quiet water.

From Tama Lodge’s hammocks, the beach is a true celebration, where you can watch Senegalese heart beating. When the sun sets on the ocean, the moon comes in and bathes the place in a strange light.

Relaxing in Tama Lodge
Thanks to its central location, most points of interest of Senegal are at your reach from Tama Lodge for a one-day trip. Don’t miss the town of Mbour, with its colourful market and pirogues coming back to the fishing port.

If you like sailing, the hotel organises motored pirogue fishing excursions or trips along the “Petite Côte”. You can also attend Mbour’s tradional mass, where prayers are sang to the rhythm of African tom-toms, or discover Peul or Serere bush villages.

Bandia’s Game Reserve is only at 20 minutes drive from the hotel, Joal-Fadiouth shell island and its millet granary on stilts only at half an hour.

For a on-day trip, you can visit Gorée Island, UNESCO world heritage, the captivating Sine-Saloum, or the « Lac Rose » (Pink Lake), unique ecosystem where you can admire villager’s hard work extracting heavy salt plates.
