Masseria Salamina, agricultural centre and noble residence since the end of 1600. Once fortified to defend itself from the attacks of Saracen pirates, for over twenty years it has housed a farmhouse rich in history and charm, in which the ancient agricultural vocation is combined with an authentic hospitality.

The De Miccolis Angelini Family has been the owner since 1986, will take care of your hospitality and your well-being, leading you into the charm of the past and making you relive the simple life of the farm, full of wonderful environments, steeped in agricultural tradition and pure Mediterranean atmosphere.

The Masseria, framed by battlements and a small central tower, offers, among large and welcoming common areas and centuries-old olive trees of Puglia, twenty rooms equipped with every comfort of different types divided between standard with mezzanine, two-room apartments and master suites.

TWO ROOMS APARTMENT
Built in the north-east wing of the masseria, where once there was the sheep pen and the barn, there are 8 apartments of about 50 square metres each, equipped with heating and air conditioning, a TV, a safe and a kitchen complete with a large refrigerator, an induction hob, dishes.

Each two-room apartment has an independent entranceway and its own equipped outdoor area, it consists of a living room with a single bed, a double bedroom, a bathroom with a shower and a small kitchen.

Four two-room apartments on the ground floor, under the suggestive arches of the portico and four on the first floor, with an entrance from the terrace, sea view or centuries-old olive grove.

STANDARD WITH MEZZANINE 
In the north-west wing of the masseria, which once housed the stables, there are 6 rooms with mezzanine, equipped with air conditioning and heating, a television, a refrigerator, a safe.

All with an independent entranceway, with a table and chairs outside, which can overlook the internal courtyard of the masseria where dinner is served or in the citrus grove; on the ground floor consists a living room with 1 or 2 single beds and a bathroom with a shower, and on the mezzanine, there is a double bedroom created in the large barrel vault.

JUNIOR SUITE SUPERIOR
On the ground floor, large room located on the ground floor and with two entrances. It consists of a double bed (or twin), double entrance from the main door or from the internal courtyard, additional bed, a double shower or waterfall effect shower.

DINING
The restaurant of the masseria offers menus close to tradition, with dishes that enhance the taste of authentic flavours through genuine ingredients and organic raw materials, produced in our family-run business and in the agricultural and agri-food companies of our territory.

WEDDING IN SALENTO
Imagine an ancient Masseria from the 1600s, immersed in the Apulian countryside among rows of centuries-old almond and olive trees, wrapped in the Mediterranean scents of lavender and oregano. Imagine the party, the joy, the atmosphere of a day that will become eternal, the tables full of genuine and fresh products, prepared with wisdom and authenticity.

THE FARM
The main cultivation activity of the company, which has over 60 hectares, between the countryside of Monopoli, Putignano and Fasano, is that of the olive tree, including about 25 hectares located in the Parco delle Dune Costiere, aimed at the production of Superior category extra virgin olive.

We also produce jams, marmalade, vegetables, wheat, pasta, flour, almonds, wine grapes, fruit and a line of natural cosmetics with extra virgin olive oil.

EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
Thanks to the attention to every detail, from cultivation to harvesting and milling, extraordinary oils are obtained which, depending on the olives used, have different organoleptic characteristics.

Masseria Salamina extra virgin olive oil is obtained thanks to the milling, with mechanical means only, of varieties of olives typical of the Apulian territory – ogliarola, leccino, frantoio and coratina – grown mainly in the countryside of Fasano (Br), inside of the Regional Park of the Coastal Dunes.

Each of our oils expresses the soul of the Apulian territory and its unrivalled olive vocation: the almond of the orgiarola, the density of the leccino and its delicate tones, the strength of the coratina, hints of artichoke, carob, tomato and almond will become ingredients essential for making different combinations in the preparation of your dishes and an irreplaceable food in your diet.

Using a REAL extra virgin olive oil does not only mean choosing an unparalleled flavour, but it is a healthy habit to guarantee our body polyphenols and vitamins essential for our well-being.

The harvesting technique, aimed at avoiding injury to the olives and contact with the ground, allows to obtain very low levels of acidity and unique organoleptic properties. The olives are harvested in the optimum veraison period (colour change) to obtain the best polyphenolic, antioxidant and organoleptic qualities.

JAMS, MARMALADES & PRESERVES
The best of Apulian fruit, with artisan recipes, without thickeners or colourings. Respect for seasonality and enhancement of typical fruits are our main ingredients.

Along with the classic jams, such as apricots, strawberries and plums, some specialties: bitter orange marmalade, a rare, bitter and digestive fruit; Clingstone peach jam, a local quality of peach with an intense aroma; that of Pumpkin, suitable to accompany savoury cheeses and the quince jam, ‘Marmelo’, the oldest of all, from which the term Marmalade originates.

Preserves, an ancient tradition handed down from generation to generation, the most natural, genuine and immediate method to stock up on healthy and good foods to be consumed at any time of the year. We offer you the tomato sauce and typical product of the tradition that never fails on the Apulian table.

SOAP & CREMES COSMETICS 
Already in ancient times, olive oil was considered precious for body care and today its properties are scientifically recognized. This is why we have created a complete line of cosmetics based on our extra virgin olive oil, enriched with natural ingredients and made in an artisanal way, because we believe that nature, in its perfect balance, has given us everything we need.

OUR CROPS: ALMONDS, VEGETABLES & FRUIT 
Here every season offers variety and flavour. Cime di rapa, broccoli, chicory of different varieties, fennel, winter cabbage are gathered under the rows of centuries-old olive trees; peppers, courgettes, aubergines, courgette flowers, lettuce and summer tomatoes. Even the orchard among the 46 varieties present, guarantees healthy, genuine and high-quality products all year round.

To preserve our biodiversity, ancient varieties are cultivated that have risked extinction, such as the mandarin ‘Profumato di Monopoli’, the tomato ‘of the queen’ and, in the land located in the Parco delle Dune Costiere, organic durum wheat of ancient variety, with excellent nutritional characteristics and a unique and authentic taste.

ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
The reconversion of the places for the accommodation business was subject to careful renovations, with the aim of improving the usability of guests and the quality of the services offered, while respecting and enhancing the existing and the historical and cultural background it represented. We therefore tried to follow the development of the accommodation business in an eco-sustainable way.

For example, by creating a biomass heating system, integrated with solar panels and district heating, which allowed us to obtain greater efficiency and effectiveness compared to other energy sources, using the wood chips produced by the pruning of our centuries-old olive trees, a of the most expensive processing stages.

In 2009, thanks to this choice, we won the Oscar green, energy for the future. Another example is the system that was chosen for the swimming pool, with natural purification, which uses sea salt to produce chlorine, thus avoiding the intense use of the chemical one.

Among the projects there is the construction of a photovoltaic system to achieve energy autonomy and we are promoters of an eco-sustainable mobility initiative, through the use by our guests of electric vehicles and charging points located throughout the territory.

HANDMADE NOODLES: FROM WHEAT.. TO PASTA AND FOCACCIA
Wheat, one of the basic foods of the Mediterranean diet, will be the main player in this activity. You will be able to practice the typical art of creating fresh noodles and focaccia according to the traditions of our region.

GARDEN IN THE MASSERIA
With the visit of the ancient Masseria from 1600, we will accompany you on the discovery of the organic agritourism. In this way you will be able to understand the importance of the biodiversity and seasonal availability of vegetables and you will do the shopping with this awareness.

We will finish the excursion with a practical activity in the garden dedicating ourselves to the theme of the local wild plants.

TREKKING IN THE REGIONAL PARK OF THE COASTAL DUNES
Walk with a duration of 1,5 hours on our fields in the Regional park of the coastal dunes of Torre Canne and San Leonardo to explore the unique habitat that is rich in the millennia-old tradition of agriculture and agricultural innovations in accordance with the biodiversity.

Explore here in the midst of the azure sea blue, dunes, Lame (natural karstic springs) and ancient olive trees the heart of Apulia!

TREKKING ATOP THE HILLS
Embark on a wonderful walk on the Murgia dei Trulli to enjoy a breathtaking view of the plain of the centuries-old olive trees and the beautiful sea. Discover ancient “Tratturi” and the Mediterranean macchia.

Puglia, the ideal destination for those who wish to discover an extraordinary land where history, art and nature mix. A place where the past echoes in the sumptuous monuments, in the churches, in the alleys of the historic centres and through ancient popular and religious traditions.

FASANO
The town of Fasano can be found surrounded by oaks and chestnut trees. Its ancient walls preserve the old town center with its squares, whitewashed walls, arches and alleyways.

ZOOSAFARI
On a hillside with Mediterranean macchie (maquis schrubs) among centuries-­old olive trees, you can allow yourself to completely surrender to nature and allow imagination and reality to blend together.

CISTERNINO
The city of Cisternino rises up in the unspoiled nature of the Mediterranean Macchia, overlooking the Valle d’Itria, and is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

EGNATHIA
A few kilometers from the sea, near Fasano, is the archaeological park of Egnazia, which rises on the ancient ruins of the city of Egnathia.

LOCOROTONDO
In the heart of the Valle d’Itria, nestled in a high plateau is Locorotondo, which owes its name to the characteristic circular shape (loco = place, rotondo = round). This particular shape characterizes the old town center of the town.

OSTUNI
Ostuni, known as “white city”, rises in the Valle d’Itria at 218 m asl. In panoramic position with breathtaking views in the midst of Mediterranean macchia and ancient monuments.

MARTINA FRANCA
Between stone walls, trellis and fields, Martina Franca can be found, a perfect unity between art and history. The townscape of the old town center of Martina Franca is characterized by apartments.

MONOPOLI
Ancient walls that surround the remains of the Spanish era castle and reflect in the Adriatic Sea. Also called “the city of the 100 Contrade”.

PUTIGNANO
Putignano, known for its traditional carnival, which has now taken place 62 times is an event of international renown among tourists. There is a carnival parade, which takes place every Sunday during the carnival season and is created by the experienced hands of local craftsmen.

The characteristic mask of the events is called Farinella and owes its name to Putignano. Since 2006 a summer carnival has also been taking place.
