Situated in the heart of upper midtown Manhattan on West 56th Street at 5th Avenue, The Whitby Hotel is a celebration of contemporary art and design. It’s just two blocks from Central Park and on the doorstep of some of New York’s leading restaurants, galleries and museums, including MoMA.

There are 86 individually designed bedrooms and suites, each with floor to ceiling windows, many with a private terrace and stunning views of the Manhattan skyline. Interiors have been designed by Kit Kemp in her award-winning modern British style.

ROOMS & SUITES
The Whitby Hotel has 86 bedrooms and suites over 16 floors, each designed by Firmdale Hotels’ Creative Director and Owner Kit Kemp, in her award-winning contemporary English style. Each room has its own bold colour scheme, floor-to-ceiling windows, some with a private terrace.

Bathrooms are beautifully designed in granite or marble, complete with double basins, walk-in shower and RikRak luxury bath products. All suites have a free standing bath. The hotel’s top floor is dedicated to the spectacular Whitby Suite, with two master bedrooms, spacious drawing room and two furnished terraces.

THE WHITBY SUITE
Occupying the entire top floor, The Whitby Suite is a spacious two bedroom suite with floor to ceiling windows, two king size bedrooms, a large living room, guest powder room and kitchen.

Doors lead onto two sweeping terraces with stunning views of New York, spanning both sides of the hotel. The oversized white marble bathrooms are beautifully designed with two basins, a deep bath tub and separate shower.

THE WHITBY BAR & RESTAURANT
The Whitby Bar & Restaurant is a rich, colourful, airy room with high ceilings, an impressive 30 foot pewter bar and beautifully upholstered banquettes. Tall warehouse-style windows and doors lead through to a sunny orangery with vaulted ceilings and skylight, bathing it in natural light.

THE AFTERNOON TEA 
Join us at The Whitby Bar for a delicious Afternoon Tea served in the colourful restaurant or the elegant Orangery.

Served on Kit Kemp’s beautiful Sailor’s Farewell Wedgwood china, enjoy delectable finger sandwiches, including smoked salmon and lemon crème fraîche, a selection of mouthwatering cakes including red velvet macarons and wild berry opera cake, as well as homemade scones with clotted cream and preserves.

TERRACE DINING
Host a special celebration in a stunning setting. The Orangery courtyard at The Whitby Hotel is now available to hire exclusively for up to ten guests.

Choose from seasonal dishes and expertly matched wines, while you enjoy this beautiful heated outdoor space all to yourself. Alternatively, stay in one of the hotel’s individually designed suites with a private terrace and dine with spectacular Manhattan skyscraper views.

The Whitby Hotel has three individually designed private rooms which are flexible in format and are ideal for a wide range of events. There is also a state-of-the-art screening theater seating 130 people.

ANREP PRIVATE ROOM
The Anrep Room is located on the lower ground floor. The walls are decorated with beautiful Anrep mosaic prints, the originals of which can be found in the flooring of the National Gallery.

It is flexible in format and can be transformed from a luxurious drawing room to a corporate boardroom, sumptuous private dining room or venue for a cocktail party or product launch. Why not celebrate Thanksgiving in the gorgeous surroundings of the Anrep Room.

Choose from a selection of seasonal classics, including Winter green salad with delicata squash, lentils and Capri cheese to start, followed by roasted turkey with all the trimmings for mains, ending with a classic pumpkin pie with crème fraîche for dessert.

ARAMINTA PRIVATE ROOM
The Araminta Room is located on the lower ground floor and features walling specifically designed by English artist Melissa White. It is flexible in format and can be transformed from a luxurious drawing room to a corporate boardroom, sumptuous private dining table or venue for a cocktail party or product launch.

THE READING ROOM
The book-lined Reading Room, located on the lower ground floor, features a curated collection of hundreds of books from a variety of genres. It is flexible in format and can be transformed from a luxurious reading room to a corporate boardroom, sumptuous private dining room or venue for a cocktail party or product launch.

THE ORANGERY
The Orangery is individually designed using sumptuous fabrics, interesting artwork and unique furniture. It can be hired for exclusive hire and offers the perfect setting for intimate dinners and Champagne receptions to business lunches and product launches.

GUEST AREAS
The hotel has a light and airy lobby which leads through to a sumptuous guest drawing room with original art, bespoke library collection, elegant fireplace, deep comfortable sofas and honesty bar.

THE LOBBY
The hotel lobby is light and bright with soaring glass windows and striking artwork. Dominated by three stunning marble sculptures by Stephen Cox, the hotel lobby is also home to other impressive art works such as the iconic loom by Hermione Skye O’Hea and a mixed media grandfather clock by Dutch designer Marten Baas.

THE DRAWING ROOM
The Drawing Room is a sumptuous and colourful residents lounge with an elegant fireplace, bespoke library collection, original art and honesty bar. The fireplace is Greek, mid 18th century style and features garlands of leaves and acorns tied by ribbon, representing peace, prosperity and longevity. It is an ideal space for hotel guests to take afternoon tea or relax with a drink.

THE WHITBY GYM
The Whitby Hotel has a private, fully equipped gym comprising various cardiovascular machines, free weights and exercise mats. The gym is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Personal trainers can be arranged on request.

WEDDINGS IN NEW YORK
The Whitby Hotel is a beautiful venue for a wedding. It has several stylish spaces for a variety of wedding celebrations ranging from small and intimate ceremonies to larger, more spectacular parties for up to 100 people for a reception or buffet dinner. We will work with you to create the wedding of your dreams.

The Whitby Hotel is licensed to hold wedding and civil ceremonies. We have three private spaces which can be beautifully transformed into an exquisite setting in which to hold a special marriage or commitment ceremony for up to 40 guests.
