FUSHIFARU THILA
The population of mantas is migratory and reaches the Island (on Fushifaru Thila 3 minutes away from our house reef in Fushifaru Kandu) mainly between September and February when the end of the Monsoon season produce plankton for these marine creatures to feed on.

In particular Fushifaru Thila is well known for cleaner wrasse stations positioned between 10 and 15 meters of depth all over the reef making the place one of the ‘Must” dive sites.

It is common to spot manta rays during the dive. Big schools of hump back and blue striped snappers, close of fusiliers, giant trevally, oriental sweet lips and barracuda are frequent visitors of the Thila.

Let us take you to an exciting snorkeling trip in search of manta rays, found both on coral reefs and in the open ocean. Manta movements vary according to the season, tides and other factors but there is the best chance of spotting them during southwest monsoon between May and November.

Best Dives Maldives team in Fushifaru have initiated a coral propagation project by planting coral fragments in several frames and one distinctly manta-shaped frame in the lagoon.

The team continues to plant, monitor and clean frames to ensure the success of the project. Both certified divers and snorkelers can visit the site by joining a dive excursion or the coral restoration snorkeling tour.
