Set on a rocky edge at the northern cape of Chesterman Beach, the Wickaninnish Inn is an aspirational destination. A few minutes south of Tofino on the Esowista Peninsula, the Inn is central to exploring the rugged wilderness of Pacific Rim National Park and Clayoquot Sound.

Built out of the McDiarmid family’s vision, and now under guidance of our Innkeeper, Charles McDiarmid, the Wickaninnish Inn is a timeless retreat for any occasion.

Providing exceptional hospitality is simply how we do things here, and, since opening our doors in 1996, we have continuously raised the bar in our offerings.

With elegant accommodations, a fine dining restaurant, an award-winning spa and an abundance of modern comforts, new and returning guests are assured a memorable visit any time of year.

The Inn’s two neighbouring buildings house all of our accommodations and services just steps from the beach. Their architecture has helped define the archetypal North West Coast style, one which utilizes natural elements of local cedar, fir, driftwood and stone in its design.

With windows opening towards the surrounding landscape and seascape, guests are immersed in the beauty of our incredible surroundings from every room. Sculptures and artwork from local artisans feature prominently throughout the Inn and create the essence of its unique character.

In fact, any mention of the work here must begin with Henry Nolla and Maxwell Newhouse who have left no room untouched by one of their signature handmade pieces.

Drawing inspiration from the land and our community, we strive to support both by maintaining excellent standards of service and environmental responsibility.

Beach Building
In 2003, just a few years after opening, we built the Beach Building to expand our accommodation and amenities. Nested beside the Pointe, amongst ancient trees atop the northern cove of Chesterman Beach, the Beach Building faces the strand and morning to midday sun.

We integrated the same timeless elegance of the Pointe into the design of our “Wickaninnish-on-the-Beach,” which houses 12 suites and some larger Deluxe Rooms.

Beam and detailed woodwork weave throughout the building, and there’s a signature mantle carved by Henry Nolla adorning the fireplace in every room. From the Beach Building, guests move easily to and from the spa and restaurant in the neighbouring Pointe Building, or to explore the beach—just out the door!

Inside the building you’ll find our Lookout Library, a fully-equipped boardroom, the Fitness Centre [temporarily closed] and the cozy Driftwood Café for morning espressos or afternoon libations.

Pointe Building
Built on the rocky headland at the north end of Chesterman Beach, the Pointe Building has an expansive view of the coastline and the sea. The building’s sophisticated design brings in elements of the surrounding landscape to offer a harmonious immersion for your West Coast holiday.

Alongside the architecture of the Inn, we have incorporated furnishings, art and sculptures from local creators, in particular Henry Nolla and Maxwell Newhouse.

Their work is seen in small and large features—such as our carved yellow cedar welcoming doors by Henry—and is a noteworthy aspect in creating the Inn’s personal and unique character.

The Pointe Building houses the Inn’s fine dining restaurant, The Pointe Restaurant, our On the Rocks Bar, the newly-renovated Shoreline Terrace and Howard’s Wine Cellar—an aspirational wine collection and venue. Ancient Cedars Spa, with its superlative health and wellness offerings, is also found here.

With 42 Deluxe Rooms facing east, south and west, individually, and three corner Premier Rooms facing south and west, guests can choose between a variety of accommodations, all in neighbouring proximity to amenities and getting out-of-doors.

Premier Room
Always alive and changing, the Pacific seascape will keep you entranced for hours. These three corner rooms have views looking both west and south, offering a wide perspective of the waves rolling in.

Watch the sea lions and seabirds pass while you cozy in with your morning cuppa, enjoy the breeze billowing by on your personal balcony. The spacious bathroom with ocean views makes getting ready for a night out—or a night in!—part of the coastal experience.

These rooms feature a King bed, double-soaker bathtub with view (limited on the first floor) and a fireplace. The second and third floor rooms have connecting accommodation options to our south-facing Deluxe Rooms.

Third Floor East Deluxe
Immerse yourself in the comfort of coastal living. Every room at the Wickaninnish Inn reveals a new perspective of the Pacific Ocean—the Pointe East Deluxe rooms provide the perfect vantage point for watching the surf.

These rooms have double-soaker tubs set against a picturesque window with a forested view overlooking Chesterman Beach. Take advantage of the modern conveniences and seasonal necessities, such as beach blankets and rain gear, supplied in your room.

With all details taken care of, the coast is yours to explore all day, and the Inn your sanctuary to come home to at night.

Second Floor East Deluxe
The second floor East Deluxe Rooms provide a partial forested view limited by building architecture and shoreline vegetation. The long windows by the cozy reading nook open to Chesterman Beach, allowing fresh ocean air into the guest room.

Take some extra time in your spacious shower to soothe those sore muscles from your day out fishing, surfing or winning a beach bocce marathon, then tuck into your plush King-size bed to wake up, refreshed.

These rooms have panoramic windows, pullout double sofabed, heated bathroom floors, a fireplace and all the modern conveniences and thoughtful details to complement your Tofino experience.

Beachcomber Suite
Encircled by old-growth forest through which you discover the beach-to-ocean views, our Beachcomber Suites have the peaceful serenity you’ve been craving—especially if you take a moment for a nourishing soak in the spacious bathtub.

These suites are in the Beach Building, nestled at the north end of Chesterman Beach, and incorporate all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay: a gas fireplace in the bedroom, a Queen sofa bed and an individual balcony are all part of the package.

Beachcomber Suites are similar to the Frank Island Suites, but in place of the reading bench, there is a full wet bar arrangement.

Frank Island Suite
Imagine waking up in a King-size bed with the sounds of the waves rolling in outside, enjoying a slow morning in your personal reading nook, spending the entire afternoon on the beach and exploring Tofino by bicycle, then coming home after dinner to draw yourself a bath and relax fireside before tucking in.

What a dream! Savour a time to connect and unwind in the Frank Island Suite. With the morning and early afternoon sun lighting a cozy living room area and pouring onto your individual balcony, these one-bedroom suites are the perfect homes to getaway to.

Canopy Suite
If you’re feeling positively romantic, consider the Canopy Suite—the Inn’s ultimate accommodation in our Wickaninnish-on-the-Beach Building. With floor-to-ceiling windows that stretch right across the room, you have a stunning panoramic view of Chesterman Beach all to yourselves.

Exit the living room area with a full wet bar and fireplace onto your private balcony and enjoy the salty wind sweeping in the fragrance of the beach from below.

Wake up refreshed in the canopy-adorned King-size bed, and enjoy the stately bathroom with heated tile flooring, double-soaker bathtub and a multi-jet shower for two.

Eat & Drink at the Inn
Nourish yourself in Wickaninnish style. Made from seasonal harvests and ingredients provided from local and sustainable sources, our food is fresh, flavourful and inspired. We merge rich culinary skills with the bounty and beauty of where we live to satisfy your appetite and cultivate tastes you never knew you craved.

The Pointe Restaurant
Savour excellence in every dish. A fine dining experience magnified by the outstanding panoramic view of the sea rolling onto the shore, the pleasure of sharing good food in good company reaches its zenith here.

The very waters The Pointe overlooks define the dining experience at The Wickaninnish Inn. Executive Chef Carmen Ingham takes special pride in working closely with coastal fishermen as well as the Tofino-Ucluelet Culinary Guild to stock our kitchens with the finest B.C.-based seafood, game and produce.

Alongside our commitment to farm-fresh, organic and local sources, our recipes employ techniques that emphasize the quality of the ingredients we use. The result is an inspiring spread that is handmade, creative and aspirational.

We are passionate about what we do and make every effort to provide you with the best experience possible. We have cultivated a unique way of showcasing the beauty and the bounty of Canada’s west coast and look forward to sharing it with you.

On The Rocks Bar
Whether you’re looking to warm up after an invigorating beach walk or cool down apres-surf, our On the Rocks Bar in the upper level of The Pointe Restaurant is the perfect place to kick back with friends and family.

Come early, or stay late. Relax. Let us mix you an original cocktail, select the perfect wine, or pour you a crisp, quality-crafted beer from the region.

Back at On the Rocks, you’ll find classic fare like our West Coast Clam Chowder or the Fully Loaded Burger are best paired with—whatever your new favourite is! We will find it for you.

Wine Cellar
Howard’s Wine Cellar at The Pointe Restaurant is a haven for wine and those with the curiosity to appreciate it. Here you can gather around a stunning 20-foot-long yellow cedar table in our most intimate venue and enjoy incredible varietals from B.C. and around the world.

Recognized by Wine Spectator Magazine with a Best of Award of Excellence, our impressive wine list is meticulously selected and maintained by our Sommelier and Director of Food & Beverage, Ike Seaman.

Centred around impeccable wines from regional producers, our menu celebrates small growers and local offerings alongside internationally-renowned wineries from Italy to Australia.

We have over 700 labels housed in the Cellar’s three temperature-controlled rooms; divided by floor-to-ceiling glass, they are here for you to savour and admire. Our team of sommeliers are always on hand to guide you through a tasting or select the most balanced pairing with your meal.

Howard’s Wine Cellar itself not only transforms our ability to house and showcase our extensive collection of over 10,000 bottles, it is also available for private gatherings by reservation.

Driftwood Cafe
Warm and inviting, our beachside café offers specialty espresso, house-baked goods and lighter fare. Come by after your morning beach walk, or settle in by the fireplace for an aperitif later in the day.

Local Ingredients
We support local growers and pickers who harvest sustainably and provide incredible products. Knowing our ingredients are grown and managed with care is essential to trusting their excellence, and is a must, for our standards, for our guests and for the environment.

Room Service
Let us cater to you. Order ahead or from your room to indulge in a private feast or special treat. Starting with our in-room dining menu, room service options allow us to personalize your stay according to your preferences.

Certain occasions call for something a little more special. Whether it’s a Tofino wedding, corporate retreat, family reunion, group getaway or incentive trip, the Inn has all the amenities to celebrate wholeheartedly or integrate productive thinking.

Being exceptional hosts in every regard is simply the spirit of our hospitality, and choosing to gather at the Wickaninnish Inn will certainly make any event more memorable.

Inspire confidence and creativity from your team in a place that exudes those qualities. The Inn has smart workspaces for large or intimate groups and several opportunities for recreation and teambuilding.

Our inspiring location will help relax and reinvigorate the mind and body in order to maximize productivity and concentration, while all the necessary amenities are provided to ensure you can get down to business.

At 720ft, our Salal Room has generous space for workshops, seminars or larger gatherings. Bordering alongside the Shoreline Terrace, the room size can be adjusted to accommodate more people, or divide breakout groups, as needed.

The beautiful natural lighting and option to open the floor-to-ceiling windows on the Terrace invites fresh air in to stimulate the mind.

Relaxation & Wellness
Find sanctuary at our Ancient Cedars Spa. Nestled into the ocean level of the Pointe Building and sheltered by the forest fringe, the Spa is a haven of relaxation and rejuvenation.

With views cast out towards the Pacific, we integrate our idyllic natural surroundings into the healing treatments and exceptional care we offer for your body and mind.

Spa Treatments
Unwind, allow us to take care of you. There’s nothing like the sights and sounds of nature to help you relax and breathe deeper, and with our skilled spa practitioners you can achieve a better balance in order to thrive.

Choose to enliven the senses with an aromatic journey, relieve tension with a soothing massage, or refresh with a sublime facial. Simply be, and revel in your well-being.

Lomi Lomi
Temple-style Lomi Lomi is traditionally used by Hawaiian shamans and healers as an initiation into wholeness of mind, body and spirit. The weaving of passive movement, stretching, and rhythmic full-body massage strokes enhances relaxation and allows for the release of tension on many levels.

The deeper meaning of Lomi Lomi is “to remove that which does not belong”, thus to awaken the senses to harmony – a little bit of Hawaiian magic on the shores of our own “Big Island”.

Yoga
We offer daily Hatha yoga classes in our beautiful Rainforest Haven room. Our morning classes are designed to help you meet the day with greater vitality and ease, to provide an energizing and strengthening practice for your body, and a calming, restorative experience for your mind.

Classes are arranged for all skill levels and are semi-private (maximum of three participants) to guarantee individual attention. Our experienced instructors are registered yoga teachers in accordance with Yoga Alliance standards.

Individual classes are $28.00 per person plus taxes – please reserve in advance with the spa; eco-responsible Manduka mats and all necessary equipment are provided for you to use during your class.

Private instruction can be arranged based on practitioner availability. Private classes can be tailored to your individual experience and exact needs—a great way to try yoga for the first time or deepen an already existing practice. Inquire directly with Ancient Cedars Spa for more information and booking opportunities.

Fitness Room
If you need an indoor alternative to burn extra energy, you’re invited to use our Fitness Centre. A selection of free weights and a Paramount MP Series universal station are available for building strength and muscle tone.

For a cardio workout, jump on a treadmill, stationary bike, elliptical machine or the stair climber. Yoga mats and pilates balls also provided.

Bikes
The most fun you can have on two wheels! From May long weekend until Labour Day, guests are encouraged to take our complimentary Priority Cycle bikes out for a ride along the Multi-Use Path and into town (available on a first come, first served basis).

You’ll notice it’s the most popular way for locals to get around, too. Stop for an ice cream or fish and chips en route and simply drop the bike back with us when you’re home.

Lookout Library
This home to a selection of historic artifacts and business centre is perched overlooking Chesterman Beach. Watch surfers braving winter storm waves or get up early to enjoy the sunrise from this quiet corner.

Henry Nolla Art Gallery
Tofino is a haven for artistic talent. Take a moment to look into the Henry Nolla Art Gallery by our Driftwood Café. Here we feature three to four artists at a time—painters, woodworkers, stoneworkers and photographers—rotating work in every four to six months.

Henry Nolla’s Carving Shed
In the late 70’s, with the help of a local Tofino contractor Don McGinnis and carver Henry Nolla, the McDiarmid family began construction on their cabin at the north end of Shell Beach.

Over the building phase, Dr. McDiarmid developed a deep respect and trust for Henry, and invited him to build his own place on the McDiarmid property in exchange for playing a part as custodian and protector of the cabin.

Over the years, Henry became a mentor to a community of West Coast wood carvers. In fact, his work can be seen throughout Tofino at the Common Loaf Bake Shop, the Village Green and most prominently, as the face of Roy Henry Vickers’ Eagle Aerie Gallery.

In his Carving Shed and on Chesterman Beach, using tools he designed and forged himself, he completed much of the adze work found throughout the Wickaninnish Inn, from our yellow cedar welcoming doors, to post and beam and detail work in all public spaces, and the signature fireplace mantles found in each guest room.

Though Henry passed in 2004, his legacy continues in the hub of activity at his carving shed right by the Inn’s Beach Building as well as the small Henry Nolla Art Gallery off the Driftwood Café.

On your next walk down Chesterman Beach, if you see the yellow “Welcome” sign or door open in front of the shed, pop in and see the latest works from those who learned from and worked alongside Henry, such as “Feather” George Yearsley, and new artists such as Christen Dokk Smith.

Trails & Beach
Surrounded by ancient forest that ends at piled driftwood on the shoreline, you can simply walk out the Inn’s doors to find yourself amongst the ferns and salal or on the sand. Our trail network winds through the old growth trees on the property with plenty of special corners and plants to identify.

Join us on a complimentary Saturday morning nature walk with Long Beach Nature Tours – sign up early to reserve your spot! Don’t worry, if your visit lands on a stormy day, we supply the rain gear to keep you dry.

Winter Storm Watching
Gale force winds, giant waves and lively skies—the great energy of the winter storms shapes our coastline, making it an exhilarating season to experience the West Coast. As the seas come alive during the colder months, our favourite time to observe the power of the elements begins.

While storm watching at the Wickaninnish Inn was named a Canadian Signature Experience by the Canadian Tourism Commission in 2011, it was a memorable destination long before the Inn was even built.

Back in the day, the McDiarmid family would visit the Inn’s eventual site during a storm. Running to the rocks from their nearby cabin, they would watch to see where the waves broke, how high they came up onto the rocks and into the forest and where the most spectacular views of the crashing waves could be seen.

These memories were incorporated into the design of the Inn, making it the best storm watching destination on the coast since its inception.

Storm Watching Amenities
We provide full rain gear in every guest room, and rubber boots are available for cruising the beach and braving the whistling wind and rain. Take a moment to warm up by the fireplace in the Shoreline Terrace or Driftwood Café where you can pop your gear into our drying unit while you enjoy a hot cocoa.

For many guests the ultimate yin to the yang of storm watching is time spent in Ancient Cedars Spa. The Cedar Sanctuary (a free-standing double treatment room) offers unobstructed views of the rolling waves to accompany your relaxing treatment.

Whether you bundle up to join the seabirds dancing in the wind or watch it all from the comfort of your perch here at the Inn, winter storm watching is an awe-inspiring experience that invigorates the soul.

Stormy weather is most reliable between the beginning of November until the end of February, although it’s not unusual to have an early storm or two arriving in late October or even a late storm arriving in early March. Enjoy the season with us à la carte, or with our Storm Watching Package.

Concierge
The role of the hotel concierge is guest benefactor and ambassador. A concierge anticipates needs and fulfills requests—as long as they are ethical and legally possible—with professionalism, care and discretion.

Their services have extraordinary breadth, from securing the perfect wedding proposal spot to organizing the delivery of a piece of art, from arranging dinner reservations to scheduling the right guide for a private nature hike.

We believe a fulsome experience of Tofino, Clayoquot Sound and the Esowista Peninsula includes exploring beyond our immediate property.

We have an array of accomplished entrepreneurs in our community with incredible offerings, and we would love to help you to seek out their unique services; it’s one of the reasons we don’t include all activities on site at the Inn.

We see our role as providing the opportunity for you to discover the most authentic experiences with local suppliers, and help you navigate what feels best for you.

Sustainability
Being green was never a fringe movement for us. Inspired by the towering trees and pristine coastline here, eco-friendliness is simply a way of appreciating and caring for where we live; this mindfulness is something you may sense during your time here, too.

Becoming a Green Hotel
When the McDiarmid family was preparing to build the Inn on over 100 acres of oceanfront property, their wish was to preserve the beauty and natural integrity of this amazing site as much as possible.

On-site trees were surveyed to assist in the placement of the structures and much of the natural underbrush was hand-cleared by Charles and his brother Bruce to ensure all vegetation outside the building envelope would be left in its pristine state.

The Western Red Cedars and Sitka Spruce trees that had to be removed now form the textured walls of the Wickaninnish-on-the-Beach lobby, Driftwood Café and Lookout Library.

Douglas Fir reclaimed from St. Ann’s Academy in Victoria was used to construct guest room furniture and the liners and trim at every door and window. On your next visit, just look for the tiny nail marks and occasional bolt hole which reveal the character and history of this special wood.

Even the Inn’s unassuming exterior colour was envisioned to replicate the tone of weathered cedar—integrating itself as seamlessly as possible into the surrounding natural setting.

West Coast Wanderings
Here, a rich heritage lives, an inspired culture thrives, and the primal nature of the surrounding wilderness renders an awareness of living in the now.

Whether your idea of an activity is unwinding on the balcony and listening to the waves or getting amongst them, Vancouver Island’s west coast is yours to discover. From extreme to extremely laid back, there are activities here for everyone during any season, simply bring your curiosity and sense of adventure.

The Journey
Your journey to Tofino starts… now! Whether you arrive by land, air or water, getting to the West Coast is part of the adventure. From rainforest walks and river swims to heritage sites along the way, take a peek at the map and plan ahead to make sure you get the most out of your travel days.

When driving from the mainland, you’ll board a ferry to cross the Strait of Georgia. If it’s sunny, take the time to sit on the outside deck as you sail—you might even catch a sight of some whales!

Once you arrive in Nanaimo, stop for a bite at The Vault or grab a coffee at White Rabbit Coffee Co. to fuel your drive. There are plenty of spots to take breaks along the way, like a swim in Cameron Lake or a walk under the towering trees of Cathedral Grove.

Next up is a stop in Port Alberni where you may take a moment to download a podcast, as you’ll be out of cell range on Highway 4, the Pacific Rim Highway, the road to Tofino.

There’s less opportunities to stop en route if you’re flying into Tofino, but the views from above give their own incredible perspective. Bring a map on board, on clear days you’ll be able to spot towns with spidery roads threading between them, the busy-ness of life fading from you below.

Notice how the waters between the mainland and Vancouver Island are speckled with smaller islands sprouting from the ocean’s surface, and the contours of the mountain ranges in Strathcona Park give way to smaller forest-covered slopes before tumbling out to the rugged coast.

This landscape is what inspires many of the artists who live and work in our coastal community—and you’ll get to see why!

Adventure at The Inn
Waves roll in, cormorants dive into the sea, sea lions play offshore and, further out, islands carry forest-covered mountains on their backs—this is Canada’s West Coast, beckoning to your inner explorer. Get out there and live in the elements! From sea to sky, the West Coast is a natural playground.

With sea kayaking, surfing, biking or fishing just steps out the door, you can divide your days into a rotation of active adventure or focus your time perfecting one.

The sandy beaches of the Esowista Peninsula are optimal for learning how to surf. There are several local outfitters who provide lessons and gear—even for the tiniest age groups—to get you safely into the waves and help you polish your style.

Beginners and expert paddlers alike can enjoy a kayak trip out in Clayoquot Sound; go for a four-hour excursion or a multi-day trip to island hop. If you’re hooked on getting further out to sea, highly-skilled fishing guides will take you to catch halibut, salmon and lingcod.

Culture & Artisanship
Starting with the artistry of the Nuu-chah-nulth people, the West Coast has long sparked a creative fire in those who live and visit here. From painters to musicians, woodworkers to food artists—talent is in abundance!

This ingenuity extends to other crafts, as well: our local brewery is a popular community hub and purveyor of small-batch brews, our annual film festival a much-anticipated event and local florists, photographers and jewellery-makers use their mediums to define unique interpretations of appreciating this region.

You won’t have to go far to see the handiwork of local artisans. From our hand-carved doors by Henry Nolla to the signature driftwood chairs, the Inn proudly features the incredible skills of our neighbours in every room.

Some of the pieces were made in the Carving Shed right next door, where local carvers welcome visitors to watch them at work.

The town of Tofino is small, but bustles with vibrant businesses. Stylish shops and gift boutiques offer locally-made goods, and dining venues leave nothing to be desired with their house-made sweet and savoury menus.

Cultural tours guided by the Nuu-chah-nulth nation are a marvellous offering to consider; their insight into the land and seas bring together centuries of history with present-day traditions.

Tofino’s variety of festivals and events throughout the year may incite a specific interest—keep an eye out for annual happenings, or ask ahead to ensure attendance.

Nature of Clayoquot Sound
The nature here is predictably unpredictable, that’s what makes it wild! Discover sun-dappled trails winding through the rainforest, identify flowers and berries along the Shorepine Bog, feel the expansive reach of Long Beach stretching towards a fiery sunset.

As you watch sea lions playing in the crashing waves of storm season, you may find an innate sense of play bubble up. The spirit of exploration is alive and well on the West Coast.

Plan for some time to wander, and wonder. Starting from the trails surrounding the Wickaninnish Inn to a hike up Lone Cone, the awesome perspectives of nature are endless.

With Pacific Rim National Park, a jewel of Canada, as our neighbour, day trips to explore the dunes at Wickaninnish Beach or the power of water blasting at the Blowhole at Halfmoon Bay are easy and accessible.

While you’ll likely see the majesty of eagles from the comfort of your room, daily whale and bear watching trips with onboard naturalists are available for wildlife sightings of a larger variety.

The history of the land has shaped our knowledge and use of it. The Nuu-chah-nulth people have been here for centuries; learning their stories will give you a better appreciation of the spirit underneath the mountains and trees.

If you’re visiting during storm watching season, be prepared for some excitement as the untamed wilderness exhibits its unbridled power. Join our complimentary weekly Saturday nature walk with a Long Beach Nature Tours naturalist. Being awash in the elements invites feelings of being united with it.

West Coast Culinary
With a buttery, hot-from-the-oven croissant in one hand, and a locally-roasted coffee in the other, breakfast is just the beginning of your day, and the culinary delights that await you here.

While we love hosting you at The Pointe Restaurant, Driftwood Café and On the Rocks Bar, we also encourage you to seek out some of the fantastic establishments in our community.

Fantastic charcuterie spreads, lemon-baked halibut, pulled-pork tacos, spicy ramen bowls and the best seafood chowder you’ve ever had are just some of the options for your forest feasts and seaside dinners.

From fresh-caught prawns to house-baked breads, Tofino’s culinary scene is a not-so-secret enigma that punches far above expectations. Here, talented chefs mix with local harvesters to showcase the bounty of the land and sea at its finest and most delicious.

There’s plenty of variety to satiate your appetite. Start your day at Tofino Coffee Co. for a specialty espresso, Rhino Coffee House for an offbeat or classic donut, or join us at The Pointe Restaurant for a decadent weekend brunch.

If you’re lucky to be here during the Tofino Public Market season (late spring to early autumn), the Village Green hosts a variety of local vendors on Saturday mornings.

Lunch to go? Depending on your tastes du jour, stop by Picnic Charcuterie, Lil’ Ronnie’s BBQ, Tacofino, Wildside Grill or grab a healthy smoothie from Gaia Grocery.

Looking for a seat? Drop in to SoBo, with their incredible key lime pie and infamous margaritas, or dine at Wolf in the Fog, Schooner or Shelter for stylish and excellent fare.

A spirited adventure may lead you to Tofino’s Craft Distillery, or down the winding road to Pluvio in Ucluelet, but always save room for dessert with a scoop of house-made gelato at Chocolate Tofino.

Connective Experiences
If romance has swept you off your feet, so should your holiday. Bask in a shared West Coast experience catered to invite celebration and reconnection.

Moments shared over intimate dinners, through electric outdoors adventures or relaxing by the seaside will buoy the sweetness of spending uninterrupted quality time together.

Grand experiences speak volumes, but so can small, thoughtful gestures; choose days filled with both. Discover diverse activities together, reminisce in annual traditions or create new ones. Surprise your loved one with a couples massage or a Spa Package made for two.

Get a private surf lesson, then take romance to new heights on a scenic float plane tour. Enjoy a candlelit dinner at The Pointe Restaurant, or order room service to your suite and accompany the sunset view from your private balcony with a bottle of B.C.’s finest wine.

Book in advance for a Champagne welcome or a romantic turndown with orchids and truffles. For those looking to tie the knot, Tofino and the Wickaninnish Inn host all the services and amenities to create festivities styled to your needs and desires—not to mention, the incredible locations for the ceremony and reception.

All Inn the Family
With their insatiable curiosity, kids are among the best sidekicks to have when exploring the West Coast. From piling sand into creative beach art to wondering at the simple, otherworldly beauty of sea urchins, they have a keen eye for wonder.

Of course, an inquisitive nature doesn’t have an age limit, and the young at heart also thrive here! Kids to centenarians will find common ground on a West Coast vacation.

Spend the days exploring tide pool ecosystems, building towering sandcastles, enjoying beachside picnics and discovering the wonderful link between learning and playing. Surf shops offer equipment for all sizes of wave enthusiasts, as do daily fishing charters.

Wildlife excursions—whale and bear watching—can take large groups out on the water; and park tours, guided by naturalists, are available for fewer people. Get hands-on at the touch tank in the Ucluelet Aquarium, a catch-and-release facility showcasing the biodiversity of Barkley and Clayoquot Sounds.

Create memories to take home and treasure for years to come. Learn surf etiquette and how to read the waves from a certified instructor. Take a SUP out to explore the coastline, or bikes to coast along the multi-use path into town.

If the wind picks up, the skatepark in town is always head-high and glassy, or you can bring a kite to fly along your sunset beach walk.
