Mexico’s Maya Tulum Retreat & Spa is a wellness retreat like no other—a sanctuary of natural energy and wonder.

Experience our rejuvenating yoga classes, indulge in healthy cuisine, be pampered by gifted healers and spend lazy afternoons basking in the azure waters of the Caribbean Sea only an hour and a half from Cancun.

Secluded and unique thatched-roof cabañas welcome the bright, fresh air and the refreshing sounds of nature on one of the longest stretches of beachfront in Tulum.

Maya Tulum Retreat & Spa has been Mexico’s premiere yoga and wellness destination for more than 30 years. The award-winning resort offers one of the largest stretches of beach in Tulum, along with a Wellness Center featuring a wide variety of therapeutic treatments.

Enjoy quiet moments of reflection in our oceanfront Meditation Labyrinth and be lulled to sleep by the sound of the lapping Caribbean Sea.

Cabañas and Villas
At Maya Tulum, guests don’t stay in mere rooms, they stay in simply elegant cabañas. Since this premier resort was established decades ago, our accommodations have been crafted and constantly updated by local Mayan artisans.

Each secluded and unique thatched-roof room has its own unique features, but all cabañas are designed to welcome the bright Mexican light, fresh air and the refreshing sounds of nature.

At every front door, a small stone bath to dip the sand off bare feet matches the hand-laid stonework found all over this expansive beachfront property. Well-appointed bathrooms, daily maid service and lovingly tended landscape make this a most comfortable escape very close to nature.

Ocean Front Tulum Suite
Our Ocean Front Tulum Suite is spectacular with 180 degree sweeping views of the Caribbean–truly a one-of-a-kind accommodation. It has one king bed, a large sofa in the living area, dining area and three private outdoor beach front seating areas.

Under the thatched roof, you’ll find an immaculate king bed with crisp white linens, draped with shimmering gossamer netting, ceiling fans, a fully-appointed tiled bathroom with open shower and walls hung with original art.

There’s a safe for your valuables, a generous supply of linens and drinking water but no television, phone or alarm clock.

Ocean Front Villa
Our Ocean Front Villa offers a crystal clear ocean view, just a few sandy steps to the warm Caribbean Sea. It is equipped with one king and one double bed with a privacy wall separating each bedroom area. Each bedroom has a seating area by the windows looking out to the sea.

Under the thatched roof, you’ll find immaculate beds with crisp white linens, draped with shimmering gossamer netting, ceiling fans, a fully-appointed tiled bathroom with open shower area and walls hung with original art.

Dining at Maya Tulum Retreat & Spa
Maya Tulum Retreat & Spa’s seaside restaurant is an exquisite split-level cabana featuring cool marble floors and white limestone walls. Enormous windows offer fantastic views of the coastline with the turquoise Caribbean Sea lapping on the white sand.

The restaurant serves a variety of authentic, fresh Mexican dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, including locally sourced seafood and flavorful vegetarian meals, along with Americano coffee, a wide selection of house teas and an extensive menu of freshly squeezed juices.

Great focus is placed on nutrition and meals are designed to accommodate a wide range of dietary preferences. A full bar offering delicious handcrafted cocktails is also available, the perfect place to unwind after another rejuvenating day exploring the Riviera Maya.

The dining staff at Maya Tulum is happy to accommodate special dietary restrictions for guests with at least 2 weeks advanced notice.

Healing Bodywork
At Maya Tulum Retreat & Spa, we honor the ancient Mayan culture that draws us to this magic place on the Yucatan Peninsula. Healing was an important part of the Mayan culture and that tradition lives on today in many of our therapeutic treatments rooted in ancient inspiration.

From facials, wraps, and bodywork to specialty Mayan treatments, we offer spectacular spa services to fit every guest’s needs.

Hot Stone Therapy
Warm, oiled stones are expertly applied to align and harmonize the chakras (energy centers) of the body.

The heat from the stones works in conjunction with traditional massage strokes and helps the essential oils (carefully selected to correspond with each chakra) penetrate deep into the body and induce a profound state of relaxation and well-being.

The heat from the stones requires less pressure from the masseuse, so a meditative state is often reached early in the session.

Temazcal Ceremony
Maya Tulum Resort offers an on-site Temazcal (Sweat Lodge), where local healers perform body & soul-cleansing Indigenous ceremonies. This universal ritual benefits the body and the soul, balancing your mind and emotions for inner peace and harmony.

This traditional temazcal (teh-mahz-cal) ceremony was designed to promote physical, emotional and spiritual well-being through a purging of physical and emotional toxins. You will be within the actual temazcal (clay steam dome) for about 70 minutes.

A spiritual guide will help you to open your heart to ancestral visions, while releasing stress and detoxifying the body through series of four guided meditations accompanied by chanting and ancient music.

During this time, a tea made by soaking fresh herbs is splashed over heated volcanic rocks to produce powerful, fragrant steam.

As your body begins to relax and detoxify, you will begin to experience a connection with Mother Earth through a series of four guided meditations accompanied by chanting and ancient music, each oriented to a different cardinal point.

At the end of each guided meditation, the door of the temazcal is opened to welcome in the energy of the next cardinal point.

Yoga at Maya Tulum
Itzamna is a smaller hall named for the Mayan god of medicine and creativity. Ixchel is a larger hall named for the Mayan jaguar goddess of healing and nurturing.

Nature informs and enriches everything at Maya Tulum – particularly the practice of yoga. Take a deep breath and imagine the sound of ocean waves and rustling palm fronds.

At Maya Tulum, our expert resident yoga instructors lead all-levels classes in a variety of styles in spiritually sensitive, nature-centric spaces.

Oceanfront Meditation Labyrinth
Maya Tulum Retreat & Spa offers an oceanfront Meditation Labyrinth for quiet moments of reflection.

A labyrinth is a walking meditation, a tool that enables us in the midst of the stress of modern life to let go of our challenges and to allow the deeper peace and wisdom within us to emerge.

Unlike a maze, a labyrinth has only one path which leads into the center and back out again. Labyrinths are for quieting the mind while looking inward for clarity, renewal, peace and balance.

In a maze, you can get lost; in a labyrinth you can find yourself. Labyrinths can be walked by individuals or groups for the purposes of contemplation, insight, healing, creative inspiration, meditation or ceremony.

Host A Retreat
Maya Tulum Retreat & Spa has developed a reputation of being able to create exceptional events regardless of size. Our reputation has been created by our focus on service, attention to detail, wonderful food offerings, and the ability to offer very diverse style retreats.

We can accommodate groups up to 75 in our 2,800 square foot Ixchel Yoga Hall (named for the Mayan jaguar goddess of healing and nurturing) or groups as small as 10 that need the ultimate in intimacy in our 1,200 square foot Itzamna Yoga Hall (named for the Mayan god of medicine and creativity).

Tulum Ruins
Tulum, the only Mayan coastal city, was considered to be a trading center. The Tulum ruins perch atop fortress-like limestone cliffs overlooking the white, sandy beaches and turquoise waters of the Caribbean coast. Price includes entrance fees to the ruins, guide and bottled water.

Yal-Ku Lagoon
The calm, clear Yal-Ku Lagoon is perfect for beginner snorkelers. Multi-colored tropical fish are everywhere – if you’re lucky you might catch a glimpse of the huge king-parrot fish – along with interesting coral formations.

The lagoon’s mixture of fresh and salt water is wonderfully refreshing after a long day at the beach. Yal-Ku is a very special ecosystem, so please help to protect it by not wearing sunscreen or feeding any of the fish. Round trip transport, guides, snorkeling gear and entrance fees included where applicable.

Sian Ka’an Muyil Experience
This full day adventure includes a guided tour of the coastal ruins of the ancient Mayan trading post of Muyil (where Ixchel, the moon goddess was worshiped), a 2-hour boat trip across wetlands, a visit to a secret Maya temple, and a dip in an ancient canal built by the Maya.

Cost includes bilingual guide (English, Spanish, or French) air conditioned transportation, entrance fees, boat trip and appetizer.

Coba Ruins
Once a prosperous, bustling Mayan city of about 50,000, Coba is located among five lakes in the middle of the jungle. One of the most outstanding features of Coba is the incredible number of sacbe (elevated roads) that connect parts of Coba with other Mayan cities.

Aktun Chen Caverns and Xunaan-Ha Cenote
Marvel at thousands of stalactites, stalagmites and natural sculptures as you wander through the 5 million year old Aktun Chen Caverns. This tour starts with an introduction to local flora and fauna, followed by a short hike to the entrance of the caves.

Once inside, you’ll learn the fascinating story of their formation. Later, enjoy a refreshing dip in the Xunaan-Ha Cenote. (A cenote is a fresh water sink-hole or cavern pool). Cost includes guided tour at Aktun Chen, entrance fee at Xunaan-Ha Cenote, and roundtrip transportation.

Sustainability at Maya Tulum Retreat & Spa
Maya Tulum Retreat & Spa strives to reduce its environmental footprint and minimize the property’s impact on our pristine Mexican coastline

Water & Energy Conservation
All Maya Tulum guest rooms are cleaned daily. If you choose to re-use your towels, please leave them hanging on the towel rack. If you require new towels you may place your used towels on the floor to indicate so. The fresh bed linens in your room are not changed daily unless you request it.

Sky Ha’ Rainwater
Maya Tulum offers a specialty bottled water product – Sky Ha’ Rainwater. Locally bottled and packaged in 100% biodegradable and 100% recyclable bottles, Sky Ha’ Rainwater collects local rain falling in Mexico’s Caribbean tropical jungles before it ever touches the ground, then purifies the water through a rigorous filtration process.
